SuperLuigi64 -- your marquee looks funny on my screen. All you can see is the top of Luigi's hat. What did you develop the layout for? (ie, Internet Explorer?)

Earth Luigi-San -- Is it supposed to not have a background down the bottom? Otherwise it's okay, but perhaps a little plain.

It is. It showed up on my board. I checked the code, and it's the same.

Well, as long as the lack of bottom border is deliberate

Incidentally, if I were you I would consider using CSS for the layout.

I never got the appeal of being able to buy groceries online.

I'd rather go to a market / supermarket and get things there. Particularly anything that is fresh or needs to be refrigerated.

Of course, online things might be good for speciality items that are unavailable at regular markets / supermarkets / convenience stores. Like that I can't get certain flavours of Pocky around here

I caught the wrong train home today.

I didn't do it on purpose -- the sign at the train station said "Tonsley" line, but it went on the Belair line.

When I realised it was going the wrong way, I got off, and then walked 7.5km (4.66 miles) home. It took me an hour and 15 minutes. And now I have a sore foot and a little bit of a blister. I was not wearing shoes that are good for walking (Converse One Star -- bad, evil foot-torture device)

I'm not sure the stupid part is when I caught the wrong train, or if the stupid part is where I walked so far.

Oh well, it's good exercise anyway. I usually only walk 3km (1.86 miles) home.

you do anything dumb today?

Earth Luigi-San I agree with what fabio has said above. The regular and hover colours are good though. I tend to never really define a seperate colour for links that are already visited (I just make them the same as regular links) though so I'm not sure what to suggest.

The hover colour is good though.

SuperLuigi64 -- the Luigi marquee is fixed now

Setz -- sometimes I wonder if we should have some little pixel arty thread icons for different types of art, just to make it easier to see at a glance from the thread what things are Little notes for music, a page (which is already a standard) for written work; uh... not sure what for sprite comics something for pixel art and for other art... a paintbrush for drawings and paintings??

Maybe we could have a pixel art competition for some icons Course, using them would be optional....

Posted on 08-30-06 12:46 AM, in Pixel Art Competition: Modern Art Thread Icons! CLOSED Link
Just an idea I thought of.

Sometimes when you look at threads in Modern Art, it's not obvious from looking at thread titles what kind of art might be contained within? Is it a drawing? pixel art? A short story, or a song?

Sometimes you can guess from the person who has posted it what it might be, but a lot of the time you can't.

So I thought what might be a cute and fun idea would be to have little thread icons that give a clue as to what kind of art it is

The current thread icons are all 15x15, but I think we can stand to have it 1 pixel each way bigger, making it 16x16. There are no limits with the amount of colours used but all entries MUST be no larger than 16x16!

The more common types of art we have here (and the ones I'd like to see icons for) are:
  • Paintings and Drawings
  • Pixel Art
  • Creative Writing
  • Sprite Comics
  • Music
  • 3D Art
  • Photoshop Work

Any other suggestions are fine as well, cause I've doubtless missed something... And given the flexible rules on Post Layouts (majority in the sticky; unless you've done something unique and special) perhaps a Post Layout icon too (which will of course be applied to the sticky)

How you choose to represent these is up to you; but it must give a basic idea of what it is -- ie, a pencil or paintbrush might depict "paintings" or "drawings".

I'm not sure what fabulous prizes there will be (if any... you could just be doing it for the GLORY of having your pixel icons used by millions!*) but I'll have a think about it.

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your pixel art tools!

* "millions" may in fact really be less than 1,000,000 people. Or even less than 10.

Hello there!

There is currently a competition in Modern Art. We are looking for some Thread Icons to be used in Modern Art to show what type of art threads are about.

Details of the Competition here.

All icons must be 16x16, but you're free to use whatever colours you wish.

I know we have a lot of people here who are clever with Pixel Art, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys can come up with

Hope to see your entries

I'm finding it hard to come up with ideas for how to do Pixel Art; Sprite Comics and Photoshop Without stealing Adobe Photoshop's icon

Took me a while to come up with one for Post Layout too...

Well, yes. Although yesterday my time averages out slower; and I did walk slower yesterday / stop at more traffic lights.

Today I got a good run with traffic lights and walked faster. 5.4km, 43minutes.. that's a velocity of 7.53kmph. Which is probably quick I guess considering it's over a reasonable distance, and I can keep up a fairly constant speed.

I also walked the 5.4km on purpose this time.

EDIT: For all you mph people, I walked 3.72mph yesterday, and 4.68mph today.

Deadline is uh... when the thread dies. I haven't come up with one yet.

But yeah, each icon individually... although that will be messy for a while... vote system to win...

I still can't think of anything for a Photoshop icon, and I don't think I can make a "photochop" of somebody's head on something else's body in 16x16

And are these going to be remixes that you have made, all by yourself?

Because if they are not, then please... naff off.

In future, could I please request that you post your original work in the thread to start with, also?

My mother loves Spider Solitaire. But then she likes all the Windows' card games. She was playing all the FreeCell games in order a few years back too

I've beaten Solitaire a few times, it doesn't interest me. A more interesting game is Minesweeper, on the hardest setting. I've beaten that too, but it isn't often.

Today I overslept, because when I had woken up earlier I was too asleep to tell time properly... and thought I had plenty of sleep time left.

Oh well, I still made it to work on time, but I'm tired and I need coffee.

I do that every day. It's just I manage to wake up at the last minute every time, somehow.

My alarm isn't so much a "demand" for me to wake up, it's a "suggestion". Which is usually not-so-cheerfully noted and then ignored.

I'm pissed off today, cause my TV tuner at home hasn't been getting good reception again (it's not the TV tuner's fault, it's my lack of a good antenna's fault) and I missed Boston Legal.

It's occurred to me that I seem to like "quirky" TV shows at the moment. Spicks and Specks is a quirky music quiz show. Scrubs and Boston Legal are both pretty quirky too.

I was wondering if anybody could recommend any other "quirky" shows I might enjoy? Do you guys like quirky TV too?

I replayed the image of Danielle running into a wall to make myself feel better.

Hey hey hey! Just cause I'm stupid, doesn't mean you have to copy me.

Now don't lie and say it was a "jinx". That's crap. You just wanted to be as unabashedly cool as I am.
