I just thought it was some kind of wacky drugs. Maybe he's been into the E. That makes people unusually... cuddly...

Ah... it's a helmet. I get it now. I couldn't tell what it was; I thought it was some kind of flat disc or something (again, I haven't played Metroid). That explains it... if it were a disc it would be backwards; but given the shape that's ok then

she's twisted the same way in official art, just look at those:

Not quite. I can only see one breast, not two clearly defined in both of those. While there MAY be a slight shadow of a second breast in the second one, it's given nowhere near the definition or prominence that it is in Clockworkz' drawing.

My critique stands that it's an awkward -- but possible -- position to have TWO buttcheeks and TWO breasts clearly defined. Trying to do so I've noted causes me to drop the shoulder on the side I'm twisting to down dramatically, but overall results in mid-upper back discomfort. If I don't drop down the shoulder, I have pain across my shoulder and neck.

I agree that it's about time this occurred.

The attitude was the biggest problem with me -- when the staff attempted to try to tell him something, or his layout was locked or such -- he seemed to have an attitude of that it was not his fault and that he was being unfairly victimised.

Given that he was never going to admit fault; there's pretty well no chance of him learning a damned thing from his actions and their consequences.

All in all, it was only a matter of time.

Still, this thread's prolly a bit much

The benefits of light therapy seem to be fairly well known; and I can find lots of information about it. What I can't seem to find is either light box equipment or practitioners of light therapy around here.

I'll keep looking, but at the moment it's not looking good. I can find light therapists for dermatological purposes around; but the light used for mood purposes is different.

In the meantime, while the weather holds out I'll try to go outside and get some natural sunlight. I don't expect it's going to last much longer -- tomorrow seems like it may be the last of it this week....

Posted on 08-07-06 09:12 PM, in So I'm chatting with a so called Computer Tech... Link
Hmm... I work on a Help Desk, and I'd be suspicious if a client called me asking me for a driver. However -- this isn't a public Help Desk, it's a work one -- everybody who calls me works in the same government department I do. And generally, they shouldn't be installing drivers (or anything) on their computers without going through the appropriate channels anyway. We're all bound by certain IT policies here...

So yes... I'd likely come across as an "incompetent tech", because I will ask a lot of "dumb" questions trying to work out exactly what the client is trying to do. Usually either they're installing a device like a new scanner (in which case I can tell them they already have the drivers on CD, and if they don't... why not??) or they're doing something they shouldn't be.

Ugh... the whole "she put out so everyone's a winner" thing really disgusts me. The fact that Vyper has mentioned he's "heartbroken" seems to say to me that he had a deeper connection with this girl than just that. Sure, sex is enjoyable, but I really dislike the way people cheapen more meaningful experiences with "at least she put out". It was probably worth more than that.

But yeah, as for experiences that have been bad that I have "bounced back" from and that have I guess made me a better person...or at least who I am today...
  • Lost my father when I was 14, when he passed away due to septaemia
  • Lost my grandfather that same year; to lymphoma
  • Was raped by somebody I trusted when I was 16
  • Was suspended from high school for smoking weed later that same year
  • Lost my other grandfather to a stroke on New Year's Day 1998
  • Got into an abusive relationship
  • Got out of the abusive relationship and was stalked
  • Developed Clinical Depression (2002)
  • Got into another abusive relationship
  • Left abusive relationship and again was stalked
  • Discovered that my ex has racked up $37,000 of debt under my name and have had legal procedings against me for it
  • Lost my right ovary due to a very large, septated cyst
  • Got into an awkward "relationship" and had my heart broken when I realised he wasn't really interested in me
  • Was blackmailed by my ex in relation to the debt (ongoing)
  • Relapsed into Clinical Depression (ongoing)

And a bunch of other things I'm sure. Without all that I wouldn't be who I am, but I dunno if it's all for the "better" or the worse.... you can't really tell....

How do you guys know I haven't gone insane?

But yeah, I guess no matter what happens, you CAN bounce back from it. I dunno.... things like a lot the stuff I've mentioned leave you forever changed, but you can always move on with life. It's amazing actually... how things can change you, but you're also still the same person.

But yeah, this whole experience will change you too, Vyper, in its own little way. Maybe you'll be more cautious with laying things on the line, or maybe not. Only time will tell

Well, if you're concerned about being labelled a "n00b", make a point of proving that you are not. And hopefully in doing so, try to bring up the general post quality of the forum.

Of course, this advice can be applied to the forum in general / posting behaviour in general.

There's a whole bunch of things that I can't be bothered doing around here. Unfortunately I don't think you can come here and do my dishes for me, fill in bullshit on my Census form, and generally tidy up the place.

When I'm bored, I tend to read Wikipedia articles and learn utterly useless (and potentially inaccurate) things. You could do that.

I doubt it's "evilness" anyways, sounds more like confusion. Sounds like she's really not sure what she wants / is a bit scared of the whole "relationship" thing, but still likes and respects you.

Racoon Sam -- now if you can center it and have it on an OS X blue-ish background, it'd be great

Maybe a Dock and a Menu Bar too ?

It's been a good 5 years since i've used an Apple computer, but back then I had a class in the Mac lab at my school. Those computers in there were constantly crashing, practically every day at least one would crash, usually in the middle of something important. This was far more often than the Windows computers crashed. I cant remember a single time that I had a Unix computer crash on me, but that operating system was not very user friendly. Anyway though, I dont know anything about the very latest Mac OS, but I dont buy Apple computers due to bad memories of the past ones, and the fact that just about every program I'd want to use is unavailable on that OS.

A lot has changed since then though. OS 8 and OS 9 were known for this; and early OS X was a little neurotic itself; but a vast improvement over the Classic Mac OS.

It seems that now a lot of the general bias about Apple computers seems to come from either inaccurate information or very, very out-of-date information.

Mac OS X is based on the Mach microkernel and the BSD implementation of Unix. It is very stable, on both PowerPC and Intel. Because it is essentially a variant of Unix, there are a lot of open-source projects that have OS X versions, or can be used via Fink or DarwinPorts.

If there is Windows software you can't run natively in OS X, you may be able to run it via the virtualisation program Parallels. If it's a game or graphics intensive though, it's best to use Boot Camp to dual-boot the machine with Windows, which runs very nicely on the Intel based Macintoshes

I'm not denying that the old OS 8, OS 9 and early OS X days sucked -- they did, and even a lot of Macintosh users will refer to them as the "dark days". But a lot has changed since then.

I have no real problem with people who dislike Macintoshes -- but I do get annoyed when they dislike them because of out-of-date information, rumours or other misconceptions. Course, it seems to me that a lot of people who bash Macintoshes haven't used one recently...

The sloth and gluttony comments freak me out.

Generally I put a fair bit of effort into my cooking. I go to the Markets and buy fresh, quality ingredients, which in itself isn't me being slothful -- I walk down there, I walk around the markets looking for the right things, and walk back with heavy bags -- the shopping alone is exercise. Then I tend to take my time and be careful when I cook -- it's seldom something I just "threw together", there's effort put in, it's far from me being slothful.

And then I don't even eat six ton of it either when it is cooked. I serve myself a reasonable portion and then generally freeze the rest (if it's something I can freeze of course, if it isn't it goes in the fridge), so that's hardly gluttony either. I don't eat till I'm uncomfortable, I don't even eat till I'm "full". I eat till I am satisfied.

And yet I love food, so apparently this makes me slothful and gluttonous.

Note that since I started putting more effort into food -- buying quality ingredients, cooking, etc, learning to love GOOD food -- I've lost 23kg (50.6lbs). So it's not like devoting time and effort to good food is BAD for you or anything

The only time I overindulge seems to be when the Depression kicks up a bit, and that's actually been given a chemical explanation now -- I crave carbohydrates because they assist in seratonin production.
