Well, I've never had amnesia, which is what this thread is about -- although it's now been turned into a "what's your earliest memory" thread.

I've never suffered even a mild concussion as far as head injury goes. I have suffered memory loss due to drinking though.

I ate a bread roll. It didn't make me feel violently ill or anything, so I think I'm coming good and can eat again. In fact, I'm now starting to actually feel *hungry* for the first time in several days

Yeah, I'm surprised at all the sugary cereal too. We have some sugary cereals here, but nothing to the apparent extent I hear of in this and the other cereal thread.

Besides, if I want to eat something unhealthy for breakfast, I'll make myself buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chips in them

I love ice cream. But in an effort to look after myself and not eat too much junk, I don't tend to eat very much of it.

We don't have places like Baskin Robbins and stuff here... there are very few ice creameries actually. The one I like is Royal Copenhagen. My favorite flavour happens to be the Royal Copenhagen flavour... it's delicious... caramelly.

I adore caramel things.

Yesterday, I bought new shoes. I needed something to replace my aging, trashed Colorados. So, I went and bought myself some new shoes. I hate buying new shoes so I eventually settled on a pair that I'd previously found comfortable -- a pair of Converse One Star.

Anyways, I bought them home and I had to lace them. And I decided that I didn't want to do the regular boring kind that I usually do, so I did something different.

Just wondering, how do you guys lace your shoes? Do you do anything fancy or special with yours?

I like Invader Zim. I watched it when I was recovering from surgery last year, it was good I really like some of the very dark humour.... course, said dark humour is also why it doesn't surprise me at all that that show is no longer on the air...

I like cartoons, when I get to watch them, but I don't have "cable" or satellite TV so I don't get to watch them. It's not worth me investing money in Foxtel either considering.

They have been noticed.... (because I was limping though... breaking in new shoes sometimes hurts)

And I dunno, I was just bored. Considering there's probably millions of potential combinations of lacing shoes, might as well try something different

Well, you could look into hyposensitisation immunotherapy as a possible solution -- they vaccinate you against progressively larger doses of your allergen -- either reducing or (practically) eliminating the problem (depending on the problem / your body / etc). They don't cure the allergy, but they dramatically improve things.

I've also noted with my own allergies that you can build up a "tolerance" to things through exposure -- ie, when I live with my mother and her dogs, I become more tolerant with regards to my allergy to pet dander. My asthma doesn't get triggered by it, I don't break out in itchiness or sneezing so much, etc. If however I don't see any dogs or cats for months, it will revert to normal again.

I think I'm moderately unfit at the moment. At least, I certainly feel that way, but then I've just had the flu and that can make you feel crappy for weeks...

About the most exercise I do is walking. I walk / catch public transport pretty much everywhere, which means I walk a fair bit. I also try to take the stairs at lunchtime at work (although have not done recently due to flu). And I play a dancing game (not DDR unfortunately... can't seem to get that anywhere....) too from time to time.

In the past 15 months, I've lost 24kg (52.91 lbs). Mostly through changing my diet from one less saturated in chocolate to a more balanced diet, and more exercise. I currently weigh 64kg (141 lbs). This is not however my goal weight -- I want to get down to around 57kg (125 lbs), but I'll see when I get closer....

I'm moderately short, at 163cm high (5' 4"), and I think according to BMI, 57kg is about right smack dab in the middle of the healthy weight range, which is why I'm aiming for that...

I know BMI doesn't mean a whole lot -- but it's not too bad as a rough guide, and at the very least it gives me a loose goal. The number though I suspect won't mean much as I get closer to it -- the real goal is actually to eliminate my acid reflux symptoms and hopefully also the pain from my nonexistent ovary. Both problems have been pointed out to me as possibly caused by my weight. However, as a "goal" goes -- something to work towards -- this is kinda hazy, so I've gone with a number for now and I'll see how things go.

The skinniest that BMI thing reckons I can go is 49kg (108 lbs) I don't think I've weighed that little outside of high school!! It's ridiculous!

Luigi-San -- given the description, I would say so... why the though?

Meh... honestly, finding love for another person isn't exactly an easy thing to do. You need to get them to find it themselves.

The best thing you can do in the meantime is make sure your friend goes out and stuff - invite him to parties or social gatherings with other friends of yours who might be his type. Just don't try to "set him up" or anything, just see what happens.

Nah, I don't think you can do anything in the "finding" category for him across countries and such.

You CAN encourage him to go out. He might not listen to you, but if he's really depressed, it's important that he doesn't stop any real-life social activities / give up going out / etc, as it will only make it easier for him to get all wrapped up in the depressive feelings.

Even if he doesn't find love right off the bat, going out is better for his mental state than staying in all the time in any kind of isolation.

Maybe he might not be ready to find love right away anyway -- generally after a very rough and emotionally traumatic breakup people might not be willing to even think about "dating" as such in any way. If that's the case, then they need help and support while they get back on their feet just being "them" again instead of being "them + partner".

This is freaking me out.

For the second night in a row, I cannot feel the top of my left big toe. At all. I can vaguely feel pressure when I touch it, but I half wonder if that's cause I know that something's touching it (ie me) and I wonder if I'd know if someone or something else were to touch it.

It did this last night too, and I don't remember the sensation coming back before I went to sleep.

My toe doesn't look funny or anything, and changing position / wiggling my toe / etc doesn't bring sensation back at all either. It feels like a local anaesthetic has been applied to it.

Quick research on paraesthesia suggests if it continues to do it, I'll need to see a doctor. And I don't wanna, I'm sick of doctors.

Any of you guys ever just... lost.. sensation in an extremity? For no apparent reason?

Though, I guessing in Tarale's case it's due to a combination of poor bloodflow and sleep deprivation - you did say it occurs at night, correct?

I am not sure it so much occurs at night, as rather that's when I've been noticing it. It could have been numb all of yesterday without me noticing.

It's certainly still numb today. Absolutely dead sensation-wise on the top of my toe. I'm sure I could stab myself with a pair of scissors and only feel the pressure, not the pain.

So yeah, I think this is one of those doctor things. Fun fun.

Well, my toe is still completely numb.

I've booked a doctor's appointment today at 2.15pm. Hopefully I'll find out what's wrong, and hopefully it won't be in any way related to Diabetes.

Yes, but that's quite often symptomatic of a larger problem. I'm just hoping for some kind of spazzy bloodclot or something, but if it isn't, then the most common cause for toe paraesthesia is.... diabetes...

Which I don't want to know about frankly. I guess I better check with Mum the specific family history of diabetes...

Well, I went to the doctor today, because of my toe and the lack of sensation and all.

When I go to the doctor, he makes sure to ask a lot of questions about other things, and my Depression came up. I mentioned that I haven't been on antidepressants for nearly two years, and he asked how I was going. That's when I mentioned that I think I'm mostly okay, but slipping into a bit of a thing where I keep oversleeping and overeating a little.

Long story short, I apparently need to be back on the medication again.

This... really drives me nuts.

I know I haven't been doing so great lately... but the idea that a doctor believes I need to be back on medication really really shits me. It took me a bit to work out why I'm really upset about this -- at first it was just that I'd been given antidepressants that pissed me off... just the thought of the medication was enough to trigger a bunch of shit.

But what really gets me is -- It means that I have to admit that the Depression's back again. It means that my attempts to stay on top of it without medication are failing.

It means that I have to admit that I really don't cope living by myself too. Which is something I feared... I knew that living with other people was one of the things that really helped me, and I was really hoping that things wouldn't fall apart now I'm stuck by myself.

Dammit, I'm so.... grr... right now. blah hell damn fart

Oh well, I hope I get over this lot of shit quickly this time.

Well, unfortunately there isn't a whole lot you can do then, honestly.

The best thing for somebody to do when they're down is to go out -- doesn't have to be out clubbing or anything, but out for a quiet night with some friends, or having friends over or such, just for a movie or something.

If this friend of yours doesn't have much of a social life, it's going to be very hard for you to help out with that. And online, I'm really not sure how you can go about social stuff frankly... sure you can introduce people to other people online, but it's a bit... weird.

That really leaves the best thing you can do... as... well, being a supportive friend. When your friend's down and needs somebody to talk to, just make sure to be there.

Other than that, I really got no ideas, sorry.
