lololol Victory

Interesting. Considering that Microsoft had said that they were going to design their own RSS icon and there was a bunch of (rather silly, pointless and amusing) arguing going on about it, it's kinda funny that IE would adopt lololol's RSS icon.

I'm fairly happy with the decision. Most the users I support at work use IE, so it's nice for me that there will be a "standard" that will show in their browsers and my browser (lololol) the same.

I was just talking to Elmo about how I used to fight with my brother, and I get the impression that my brother and I were pretty damned nasty to one another as kids (although I don't think we realised it at the time).

So I was wondering, when you had fights with your siblings, how bad did they get?

When I think of my brother and I fighting, I'm reminded of Bart and Lisa Simpson fighting once.....

Lisa: Bart, just get outta here.
Bart: Hey, it's a free country. You get out.
Lisa: That doesn't make sense.
Bart: I know you are, but what am I?
Lisa: Get out, get out!
Bart: OK, but on my way, I'm going to be doing this. (windmills arms) If you get hit, it's your own fault.
Lisa: OK, then I'm going to start kicking air like this. (kicks) And if any part of you should fill that air, (kicks) it's your own fault.

Except neither of us were that creative, and we were probably slightly more violent.

Both my brother and I have scars that we each inflicted upon each other He started it!!!

You guys? o.o

Funny, both of my sisters say that after they fighted...

Oh you soooooo started it. You mean boy!

And to this day, my brother deliberately still tries to provoke me to smack him one. (He is rather proud of his sheer annoyingness) So what if I hit him first... he still started it

I already saw this on another forum, and I already know them all. However I'd just like to comment on how cool this whole piece of artwork is. I printed it out as a present for Mum (in addition to her real present) on her birthday and she had hours of fun with it too.

Oh, and an easy one... at the front... "Sex Pistols" -- the dildo guns

YAY I worked out how to use the espresso machine at home!! And I can froth milk and it goes properly *frothy*, so I can make myself a cappuccino Or a latte!!

Yes, I am aware that an espresso machine is NOT difficult to use, neither is it difficult to froth milk. But I had trouble with it, and all I could make was a "flat white", or wait till my housemate made me a coffee.

I can make my OWN coffee!! YAY!!!

I was wondering, what "simple" tasks have you had trouble with? Isn't it great when you finally work the stupid thing out?

Yeah, when I was little I couldn't tie my shoelaces.
Turns out nobody else could either, but we all had each other fooled what with our parents doing it for us.

And yay, I'm still stoked that I've sussed out the damn espresso machine. I used to help at a cafe and use a real espresso machine, but for some reason the little one at home was completely unfathomable till I had the button configuration and timing explained to me.

What I find funny about simple tasks is...

Before you work them out, they're completely and utterly confusing and impenetrable.
Once you work them out, you wonder what the big deal was.

Just that little bit of understanding and it all makes perfect sense.

Here's another one that I had trouble with -- although it was demystified for me a long time ago.

HTML.

Completely confusing for a while, and then one day I just "got it", and it all made perfect absolute sense.

Now I'm just too lazy to bother using it to make myself another layout

Some kind of actual work.

I don't believe that stupidity is something that should be rewarded, but hard work should be.

None of them then.

There are easier ways for me to get a grand without having to risk myself, embarass myself or otherwise degrade myself.

And yet you made this poll.

That said, I'm sure people would do some of the above stuff for a price, but I don't think $1,000 is a good price for a lot of people. Especially as I said, there are much better and easier ways to get that kind of money.

Where it might get interesting is when the amount of money is such that it's *not* easily and honestly attainable through means such as hard work, selling goods and services, etc.

What the hell are you talking about?

You can't shorten a URL. If the URL is long, it has to be exact -- and long.

You can change what shows up in a link as the link text though, is that what you mean? If that's what you mean, I suggest you look for a HTML tutorial on the web. I could tell you how it's done, but I think if you're that unfamiliar with HTML you are best to learn properly, not bits and pieces.

They don't do that in Australia, at least not around here. It'd be awesome if they did. Instead you do it yourself, and if you DARE to try to clean your windscreen quickly, the arsehat behind you gets mad.

Yeah, well done to crispy. Not too crisp.

I hate undercooked bacon. At least brown the bacon a little There is little worse than bacon that isn't brown anywhere, still pink all over, limp, and dripping in oil or fat.

Posted on 12-20-05 04:06 AM, in Smells Link
Yeah, I know I've been making a few threads these last couple of days. Spending the day home, sick is kinda dull.

Well, right at the moment, I'm cooking some rice for dinner. It must be getting ready, cause I can smell it now.

Got me thinking about smells. Smell is one of those things that I find REALLY helps set a mood, or bring back a memory or such. The smell of the rice cooking right now is somehow calming on this hot, hot December evening.

Other smells I like, besides food smells are the smell of one of my electronic applicances. It's this strange, sweet smell, and my mother's old electric beater used to make the same smell when used. Every time I smell it, I'm reminded of being a little kid in the kitchen helping Mum bake a cake, and we got to lick the beaters.

Another smell I like is the smell of rain. Again, another moody, calm smell.

What smells do you like? What do they remind you of?

A lot of you have already covered bands and albums that I liked in 2005. So I'm going to mention my two favorites that you guys haven't mentioned.

Ben Folds -- Songs for Silverman.
Much more mellow than Ben Folds / Ben Folds Five's previous albums, this is more a reflection of Ben Folds as a family man. Beautiful soaring melodies and heartfelt emotion. Recommended tracks: Jesusland, Time, Landed and Bastard.

Death Cab for Cutie -- Plans
Another beautiful, emotional album. Unlike Death Cab's previous album Transatlanticism, which dealt with the distance between two people, this album has themes of aging, love and death, of living in the moment, sung so sweetly. Recommended tracks: Soul Meets Body, Marching Bands of Manhattan, I Will Follow You into the Dark and What Sarah Said.

Both are lovely, rich melodic albums. A little sad though.

Ah, in that case, have you ever tried beef bacon? I know a lot of people who don't eat pig's bacon for whatever reasons (usually cultural/religious), substitute it for beef bacon.

My ex had a whole lot of it when he was in Malaysia, for example, as pigs' bacon is very hard to find there.
