The Grunge scene had a lot of depression themes too, when I was in High School. And then there was the Goth scene when I left school... I don't know what it was before I started high school...

Can't speak for everyone, but I'd say a lot of kids would feel drawn to depressing, emotional material at a certain age. And then other kids join in cause it's a "scene" or whatever.

Wii doesn't sound so bad now. I've put some thought into things, put things into perspective.

It's not so bad. There are worse product names..

I burn reasonably easy, but I try to spend some time in the daylight every day, as it's a good way to get your seratonin and such up.

It's fairly apparent that my depression is linked to the seasons and not enough daylight, and it's now becoming wintery.... I might need to find other sources of light.

I shake my head wildly up and down / side to side. It scruffs up my hair a bit. Then with my fingers I sort out any bits that are TOO scruffed up.

Well, install NetNanny or something like that, cause as long as you're on the internet, you're likely to stumble across all kinds of things you might not want to see.

I'm surprised a little hentai worries you. Clearly you've never been Goatsed.

I don't know why "left" has to be bought into the discussion.

I'm wary of Microsoft because of their past actions. I am aware of their past anti-competetive behaviours and am a little wary that they might seek to repeat some of this. I also see a lot of stories about them being a bit of a bully and whatnot.

I don't think it has to do with anything about being "left" or such. I'm the same with companies from whom I've recieved poor customer service, or such. *shrugs* At the end of the day, I'm a just a consumer, and Microsoft is just a business that hasn't got my consumer confidence.

Well, unfortunately for you, it's not going to go away.

You are going to have to learn to simply leave when you stumble across websites you don't like, and be more accepting of the fact that the internet caters to a broad range of tastes, some of which might not to be your liking

Check your browser history for it?

If you only visited it a few days ago, it should be in there somewhere.

I agree that the missiling thing is a bit extreme.

Microsoft might participate in anticompetetive behaviour, but to go from that to... well there... is a bit much.

What I forsee as becoming a major inconvenience will be the DRM stuff, depending on how companies implement it.

From what I've heard from Steve Ballmer in a number of interviews, Microsoft are / may be taking a fairly hard stance in regards to DRM, perhaps erring more on the side of Record Labels' demands than on consumer fair use. They also wish to extend DRM to documents created by you in Word and such as far as I remember....

Apple have tried to strike a balance with their FairPlay system, which is considered to be one of the better DRM systems and not overly-restrictive.

DRM though is not a Microsoft-only issue, but I have my concerns (particularly thanks to Ballmer's ranting) on how they in particular will implement these things and how much of a PITA it's going to be....

Then it might be a matter of working out whether it's more of an inconvenience to try to get applications to work on Linux, or to deal with Windows in regards to DRM....

Meh, I used to get much more annoyed at the usage of hack instead of crack, but I think I've given up trying to argue the point now, as people still get it wrong.

It still bothers me, but then I do identify a bit as a hacker. I'm certainly no cracker.

As for searching for Google Hacks, that should be funny. He might get better at searching with Google

I don't think it's nice for any charitable organisation to ask for more money, in any situation. Yes, $5,000 may not be all that much compared to what she could potentially offer, but that's no reason to ask / demand / milk her for more money.

There may be all kinds of reasons why a person may not wish to donate such a large amount to a charity or organisation. They might have a lot of other charities they need to donate it to. They might be holding off while they work out how best to invest and spend their money (and are therefore giving a token in the meantime till they have their head around things better) etc.

That said, it's not anything more than simple rudeness that they asked for more.

Well, it's a beta, so you have to expect bugs, and the closer you are to the announcement date (really close right now) the more bugs you're going to run into.

I don't tend to like these kinds of things myself, but I can see their usefulness for some people. This kind of thing allows the non-technical to create a webpage. I'm fine with that.

I hope that Google improve theirs so that it's one of the easier ones around. Even easy web page creators seem to confuse end-users, so I hope they put a lot of effort into their usability.
