In high school I harboured a vague belief in Aliens, but I guess that was more in an X-Files sense than REALLY considering the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe.

Now, I don't believe in much of anything, besides science. And looking at this from as logical a stance as I can, I believe that the universe is too vast to not have other forms of life in it somewhere, and that it may be arrogant of us to think otherwise (or of course you may believe otherwise for religious reasons, which I'm not touching).

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is cool though. Not for the silliness of it all.... look up the FSM and you'll see why I like him

And Arwon, no, it's the decline in Pirate numbers that have led to Global Warming... We don't currently have a surplus of Pirates. Or Ninjas. Sheesh you two! Go look up Flying Spaghetti Monster, now!

I keep thinking I need to go to a dentist and find out if I need mine removed. After all, I'm 25, I'd assume I'd need to do something about them by now.

Not particularly worried about it all though. I'd rather have a general anaesthetic in the hospital when it's done, maybe I need to check my insurance so I can do so.

You know, I do so love it when two people turn a thread into their own private pissing match.

Ooo I like the second one but I think it's slightly TOO dark as some of your fabulous detail got eaten

If you can find a way to get a similar effect without losing as much detail, it would be awesome

I like it, but it too loses something. This time it's not detail though.

The pic we said was too dark IS too dark, but it's also more menacing. The new pic retains the detail but isn't as menacing or ominous in appearance.

I wonder if you can find a way to compromise between the two?

Hmm.... not sure, but try doing the dark gradienty thing to the background and *lighter* over the top?

I dunno...

maybe it could help create depth that way too... as if the character is rising out of shadow?

Not quite, cause it appears to me the gradienty thing is over the top of it all; and too dark.

I meant more for the background to be dark and the foreground to be lighter. Giving it a distinction between character and background, for one, but still retaining a similar effect

ROFL - the "rhythm method" is near useless. I know I certainly wouldn't trust it as far as I could throw it (which isn't far considering it's not a physical thing)

Besides, a woman can release an ovum at any time of the cycle, triggered by sexual activity.

EDIT: Gah! What is it with me and ovaries

I tend to agree a lot with what Jomb has said already. That humans have to be at least in-part responsible for changes to our environment (including those relating to climate), but not necessarily entirely responsible.

What I believe is then important is that we don't just ignore it and hope it goes away -- but that we try to understand and minimise our impact.

Unfortunately with such a complex issue, "understanding" is probably a whole lot easier said than done.

You know, I would have really appreciated it if you could have elaborated more on what you were on about rather than expecting us to follow a link. Particularly when you have not formally made it a link....

Could you please be more specific about what you wish to discuss?

Ah... overclocking... the source of many a weird error....

If you're going to do that kind of thing, I've found it helpful to make sure that every little thing you have is up to date. BIOS, Drivers, Chipset, EVERYTHING.

Uh.... well, you could have just said, geez

I've worked in the industry for 10 years, and I've learned never to assume that the "client" has already done something -- and therefore to ask what may be later called "stupid questions"

If you clock things back to their regular settings, does stability return? It could simply be that you cannot overclock your stuff -- or at least cannot clock it so high.

Also, in future to stop us from asking redundant questions, it would be great if you provided us with as much information as possible. For instance, the overclocking was not even mentioned in the first post.

Or just use openCanvas

Meh, I never got the hang of the pen tool myself, it never flowed "smoothly" enough for me. Your lines seem smooth enough though, so props to you.

My most obvious critique is that your eyes seem too large and therefore then too close together. Make them smaller, but I suspect by keeping them centered to their pupils you'll then achieve the correct spacing too....

It could be possible that what tRO is asking of your system is too much for it in its current overclocked state.

There are tools you can test this with -- artifact testers are one example, but will only pick up videocard related bugs.

Remember -- not all systems CAN be effectively overclocked. You may need to set things back.

It looks good, but seems somehow slightly... unfinished to me.

Thing is, I think all it needs to look "finished" is a dropshadow or something at the bottom-right of your text field, to give your text area slightly more distinction from the background.

Otherwise very good.

Not sure why there's a big gap to the left of the text either though.

Congratulations, you found a porn star on the IMDB.

How do you know it is her "real" last name? Do you mean "real" as in she changed it by deed poll?
