Elmo -- watch yourself with the drinks! I'm gonna be a killjoy and tell you to not drink very much cordial. Water, water water! Always drink water in preference to cordial. Have the cordial when you need a little treat though And yes, 2 litres / 8 glasses a day. More if you're drinking anything caffeinated like tea or coffee. Try to drink the majority of it in the morning, so you're not up all night going to the bathroom |

That said, you certainly don't seem to have to jump through as many hoops to install something on OS X (with the exception of some installations such as Microsoft Office).
Often, an install of a program on OS X may consist of dragging the application to your Applications folder, being prompted for an Administrator password, and waiting for the little progress bar to complete. No reboot required afterwards either. That said, OS X annoys me too in its own ways. The Finder is stupid. At least, MY Finder is. It changes view on me. I don't like column view, but it KEEPS COMING BACK TO HAUNT ME and for the life of me I can't work out how to make it go away!! |

Well, what are you trying to cut it out for? Because at that resolution, it's gonna look craptacular.
If you actually have the picture at high resolution you have a chance though. Go around with the lasso tool VERY carefully at high res Extraction shouldn't be too difficult, it's just fiddly and time consuming to do it well. And high resolution is a must unless you are going for some kind of thrown-together rush job thing. |

Yeah, softbans were an emergency/minor offense thing that could be used if necessary.
So, say a spammer turned up and just started crapflooding, they could be softbanned in the interim till an admin came with a real banstick |

I dunno, a song I heard today by Ben Folds disappointed me...
Never heard it before today, not sure if it's something new but it really wasn't one of his better tracks... |

Originally posted by FreeDOS + Yes, but not everybody is a "tinkerer", which you have to be to a large extent to enjoy using Linux. That's one of my annoyances with Linux. Some things work fine "out-of-the-box" so to speak, and for the things that don't, there's some tinkering to do. Tinkering is fine, if you're one of those people that is that way inclined. Hell, I find it fun from time to time. But Linux made me put on my tinkering hat too often and too frequently; and it's nice sometimes if something just plain works with minimal effort on my behalf. But then, that's why I'm on a Mac now. Windows pissed me off. Linux pissed me off too. OS X so far.... has not pissed me off. Except for the thing with the Finder. |

In regards to using it for relaxation, I know somebody who does it just for that purpose.
He runs his own business, and so his thoughts are almost always on work. With the exception of when he's smoked some pot, in which case his thoughts are given a chance to wander to things such as TV, cars, computer games, etc. For some reason (stress, I'd guess) he's currently incapable of really relaxing. The pot helps him with that a bit. And back to MY usage (medicinal/pain relief) some of you might be relieved to know I'm not doing that often at the moment. The pain's come good for a bit (ie, there isn't so much of it, and what there is is tolerable). But you know something -- even when I'm a little sore, I often still don't take it -- the biggest comfort of all is knowing that it's there anyways, just in case |

Well, I've read the following:
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn And yes, it's Where's Wally. It's only Waldo for the US (and probably Canadian) version; the original was made in the UK under the name Where's Wally, and so UK and Australian children grew up with Wally not Waldo Judy Blume gets as bad a rep as Dahl... |

Right.
Vyper -- you did attach a negative connotation to the word. You made a complaint about the program Adobe Photoshop, and you used the word "gay" in making that complaint. What is NOT negative about that. Don't do it again. I'm closing this thread. It's served its original purpose (you got your photoshop work done), and there's no point keeping it open for the point of arguing this. As far as I'm concerned, your thread title's intention WAS offensive and derogatory. |

I adore Scrubs. I sit glued to the TV every time it's on. I love all the characters, I really really love the show.
It's one of the few shows on TV that I've really enjoyed in recent times. That alone is enough to make it special. |

Hmm... but there's a big difference with alcohol and pot -- for me at least.
I can have a glass of red wine, and I don't get a buzz, I don't get much at all except for the taste of the red wine, and the benefits of antioxidants and such. In fact, I very much enjoy a glass on occasion (the flavour is simply wonderful) I take a puff of weed, and I DO get a buzz (and pain relief which is my desired outcome; the buzz is actually a bit undesirable for me) I don't know if it's as simple as saying that they're as "dangerous" as the other -- I guess they're potentially troublesome, but this comes back to what I said before about it depending on the user (and how they're using it). I tend to be of the opinion that a person intoxicated from alcohol is likely to act in a more dangerous manner than a person intoxicated from marijuana. |

Originally posted by Silvershield Yes, maybe he shouldn't. He clearly is not yet capable of understanding when to stop drinking or moderate himself in any way. Incidentally, this is not something that tends to happen with stoners. They just tend to eat everything in sight and leave crumbs and food spillages in the kitchen. Like giant rats. |

This is getting pretty off topic now, but on regards to underaged binge drinking.... it happens a lot because it's "new" and a "novelty" for a lot of young people.
Kids aren't taught (as kids) to understand alcohol, or to respect it. On the other hand, kids in countries such as Italy grow up with alcohol. They have red wine with dinners; they are taught not to abuse it, and to respect alcohol. And from what I've researched, it seems that a lot of Italian teenagers are appalled at the idea of binge drinking.... they learned to respect alcohol. That said, I'm not sure that not being *taught* to respect alcohol is necessarily an excuse.... I'm with Arwon in that I think if you're not capable of drinking responsibly, that's not the fault of alcohol, that's YOUR fault. Thankfully, most people grow out of their teenaged binge drinking phase. |

Originally posted by Arwon Indeed. I binged for a while. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I was taught that "alcohol is bad". But nobody told me WHY it was bad when I was a kid, and frankly it's hard to really take that message seriously when the sources that tell you that alcohol is bad.. well, tend to drink from time to time. The mixed messages don't exactly help. Sometimes I'd get given a glass of champagne at special occasions as a kid, but at the same time I'd be told it was "naughty". Is it really any wonder I went through a silly phase in my late teens thanks to these mixed messages and lack of alcohol knowledge or experience? But guys, this is really really off topic. I would recommend it gets moved to another thread in here. This topic is about weed, remember.... |
