Well, having seen the first movie, the events of Standalone Complex HAVE to exist in a different universe. The date of the series is set later than that of the movie; yet if the events of the movie occurred in the SAC universe, the Major wouldn't be... the Major... | |||

That's great.
I have no pets, but at least if you're going to discuss pets, maybe you should provide more information. Personalities, habits, etc? Ways in which they enrich your lives? (edited by Tarale on 03-13-06 08:30 PM) (edited by Tarale on 03-13-06 08:31 PM) |

I have some pets. Well, at least they're the closest I have to pets right now.
I have some mint, thyme, parsley, italian parsley, hot mint and rosemary. I also have some flowers. I'm considering buying a rat or a ferret. Something I can keep indoors, not too smelly or messy... |

Different to the pet-chat thing, I would like some people's opinions on a pet to get. I've been considering getting a pet at my little home.
It's a 2 bedroom flat on a busy road. I have almost no back yard, so an outdoor pet is pretty well out of the question. Any pets must be indoor pets or at least able to be caged outdoor.... I want something small and furry. Something I can play with and cuddle, preferably, which means a fishy is out. Something that hopefully is not too high maintenance... Thoughts? |

Just for everybody with the cat thing -- I can't, because I'm horribly allergic to cats. I tried to have one once, it resulted in a six-month-long asthma attack.
I prefer to breathe than to have a cat. Oh, and for you guys suggesting snakes, I'm not fond of snakes and they're not cuddly so As for hamsters, I don't think we see many of those for sale in Aus, but lots of Guinea Pigs. |

For the record, I agree 100% with JDavis.

Koalas are not pets, and I don't think they'd adapt to that well either. :-/ Same for echidnas and such, and wallabies. I think there are laws also saying I can't have any of those as pets anyways. Particularly the koala, as it's hard to get the particular leaves they eat...
Hedgehogs aren't common here in Australia, I doubt I'd be able to find one easily. |

Windows Messenger Service.
See Parasyte's link. Also, I've seen that exact "error" recently on a friend's machine, and yes, disabling the Messenger Service made it go away. There was also another one where it proclaimed loudly at the end that YOUR ERRORS WILL GO AWAY FOREVER!!!!! Oh yeah, and that one said that there were (ha) "registry errors" too. Relax, you don't need to reinstall anything, you don't have any spyware or viruses. You have a messenger service enabled that allows people to spam you with popups like that one. |

All we're doing where I work is wearing green, and even then I seem to be the only one who remembered.
I know that one of my friends in the District Office has been drinking Guinness already... in addition to wearing green. Bleh |

Meh, I have no qualms with my actions frankly. If you were silly enough to not read the FAQ and you posted something which this board is quite obviously opposed to, then I think it's the duty of all members to inform you of that (whether they are nice about it or not).
I could not actually close or delete your thread, as I am a Local Moderator of a select forums (and do not have any power in the forums I am not the local moderator of), but I don't think that mod status should mean that I have rights or do not have rights to point out something that I see is wrong. I think any user, regardless of position in staff, would have been well within their rights to have pointed out your folly. In my opinion, a person's position on the board is irrelevant. |

Hi! I remember you You likely don't remember me, but then I've never been all that much of a heavy poster or anything (ChibiTaryn), and so it would surprise me if you DID remember me

I worry a lot about what other people think of me, but then this seems to come hand-in-hand with having an anxiety disorder, so meh.
However, I think it probably is a lot healthier if you can disregard a lot of what others think. It's important to be confident within yourself, not have your confidence bolstered by other people. Part of that will mean that you shouldn't worry too much about what other people say or think about you. Some people's opinions -- as already stated -- also just aren't worth bothering with. If people are baselessly trying to bring you down, don't let them. It's not worth your time, it's not worth the hassle, or the worry. This more or less goes for anything that is wholly negative (ie, stressful situations where there is no sizable benefit to you, etc). If it's going to be more damaging to you in the long run, don't bother with it. Of course, it's good to worry about what others think to a point -- common courtesy and consideration for others is important -- but don't do so at the cost of your own sanity, confidence or self-esteem. |

Call centers are fine, although a bit stressful. I work in a Help Desk call centre myself, for the Education department in my state of Australia.
I actually have a lot of time and patience concerning clients, although it gets a bit taxed when the system is overloaded and I take more calls than I'm comfortably able to do. If I'm overworked, my patience will wear thin -- and I'm not fond of that because then I don't think I'm offering quality customer service anymore. I do get a bit annoyed though with some users. Not all of them, but a particular "subset" of users -- the ones who don't care that they know jack shit about computers, are proud of that they don't care, and that refuse to learn anything. To be perfectly honest, these users wind up being a drain on our resources, as they ask the same questions over and over again and tie up the phone line so that users who ARE making an effort have to wait longer or cannot get through. Personally, I think it's a little bit unfair of them, and I think that in this day and age -- if you are required to use a computer as part of your job -- you MUST take the time and effort to learn. In general, I have "all the time in the world" for a client who is willing to learn. Oh, and some clients are funny, but then you have to be able to laugh in this job (and yes, sometimes that means at clients, take that for what you will) or you'll go around the twist. |

Well, first off, good luck with it
Secondly, you've done the right thing by publically "outing" yourself when it comes to weight -- I did it and it's been a good motivator for me too. As I'm sure I've told you, I've been concentrating on losing weight for a year now, and have lost a bit of weight Part of the motivation has come from having posted that big rant on my blog a while ago too Thirdly, what are you planning on doing in regards to exercise? And fourthly, drink lots of water Water is your best friend, trust me *huggles* |

It also keeps your liver happy. And a happy liver is able to metabolise things more effectively. I don't know if water actively helps your metabolism as such, but not drinking enough water is certainly detrimental to your metabolism.
Water good....... *drinks the last of a big glass before heading home* It's also good for making your skin all lovely and soft |
