I think everybody has irrational fear from time to time, based on lots of different things.

I too have a fear of failing at life; or at least that I'm being overcome by it all. I've had my own fairly rough time growing up, and am still going through a lot of bad stuff, and I guess I have a bunch of irrational fears that I'll "fail" Failure to me of course means a lot of different things. I might "fail" to find love, settle down and raise a family. I might "fail" to simply pay bills on time or overcome my current debt problems. I might "fail" as a careerwoman. I might "fail" as a person and a friend. There are a gazillion ways I can "fail" and I'm pretty worried about a lot of them. The best thing I find for it is to keep yourself busy. There are lots of things that need to be done generally, even if it's little things like remembering to mail an important letter and stuff. It helps me feel busy, it helps me feel like I'm working towards not failing. I dunno if it'd work for you, but work and other distractions certainly work for me. Mostly.

I think I know why the foot looks twisted; I'm having trouble with the placement of the toes so they overlap properly but still look right. o.o I think that one's just a matter of fine tuning as is the hand resting on her thigh. (I tend to go over things multiple times till I'm happy with it, and I think that's one of those things that will improve each time I go over it and over it) I need to know more specifically what's wrong with the shoulder as it looks fine to me. The way she's sitting she would be in a contrapposto pose; so I've made sure to align the shoulders and hips thusly... is it the angle or is it something else? And yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the head's still too small. I have problems with that I guess -- I used to draw them FAR too big and now I've been trying to correct that with... mixed results. :-/ I've already made a few corrections to head-size but the beauty of digital artwork is I can play silly-buggers in Photoshop and correct it some more fairly easily

They're right when they say that "some people" will bash you for having a scrollbar layout. I will.

Lose the scrollbarriness. Seriously. Your basic concept could be done just as well (probably better) without it being fixed-width or fixed-height and requiring scrollbars. Your current layout looks okay, but I'd hope you never post a whole lot of wordiness and make people have to scroll.... that would be naughty.

I don't know if this is me, if this is lololol or what, but the menu down the side seems to me like it should be aligned with the top of your news items, but isn't (it sits a fair bit down the page)... either this is intentional on your part, or the way lololol displays it, I don't know.

I like your logo, it's very good. Oh and this is in no way a critique -- but it really doesn't scale to widescreen well.  To get the "feel" of it, I had to make my browser smaller

 It's one of those things that stuck in my brain when I was learning... I even went and bought a book on how to draw female anime characters and it's one of the first things it taught me.
That and how to draw panties. Panties on, panties off, high cut panties, panties from behind, panties from the front, panties from underneath, panties panties panties.... And another ten pages on breasts.... breasts from above, below, squashed, in a bra.....
I'll stick to giving you the much more simple, useful information... like the hip thing  (restricted) |

But yes, my point still stands -- please try not to make scrollbar layouts. To make them really work for everyday stuff, you do have to employ a number of "hacks" like using smaller font, or removing the layout entirely for a long post. Neither of those things are really ideal, y'know. The second is a nuisance to you and thoroughly unneccessary if you hadn't used a scrollbar layout. The first is -- as I said -- inconsiderate to other users whose vision may not be as good as your own. andres -- Your layout would look great if you could make a stretch one with the same concept. And then you could use standard sized fonts and write as much as your heart desired too.

Yeah, I've seen the polykarbon stuff before, but to be really honest I don't find it very helpful at all. The stuff on hands and feet isn't all that helpful really :-/ That said, it's hard to find a good tutorial on hands full stop, and I gave up on tutorials long ago....

EDIT : Thanks to the magic of Photoshop, VPN, Remote Desktop Protocol and FTP, I have done a real dodgy and fixed the head size. Yes, I think the text is too small, but yeah, I know a lot of other people use that size too. |
It's not the best size to use though. Size 10pt font is about right onscreen...

Now, this is fairly out there and random, but I just wanted to run something by you guys.

I have lots and lots of problems concentrating. And it occurred to me two days ago, when trying to concentrate on something (work related) at work and being interrupted, that the nature of my work does not really allow for concentration. I work on a Help Desk. I am constantly interrupted by things, I never get to "sink my teeth" into any task that requires focus and concentration -- even when doing Mail I will be interrupted or my focus will need to be divided between mutiple (and varied) tasks. In essence, my mental processes here are very start-stop and HAVE to be flexible regarding distraction. However, a general inability to focus and concentrate seems to follow through to out-of-work hours as well, resulting in almost ADD-like behaviour in me. What I'm wondering -- and I'm wondering if anybody's ever heard of this before -- is if I've been trained by my work conditions into some kind of ADD-like thought patterns? I know it is possible to train thought patterns both positively and negatively -- that's why things like cognitive therapy are effective in treating conditions like Depression. Do you think it's possible that my work's trained me to have concentration issues? Obviously if this IS possible, I should then be able to train myself out of those bad mental habits too -- but I wonder if I can do that for only out-of-work-hours. Clearly the mental flexibility I have at work is an advantage -- at work... but it's not elsewhere.. (edited by Tarale on 03-09-06 09:21 PM)

I will link you to Microsoft's page on the matter and a whitepaper on the matter that I googled for and have not read. Oh, and with any big undertaking, plan things out VERY carefully and thoroughly. From memory, I think you have to watch for 's, like if somebody's name is "O'reilly" I don't think the ' works.... where it did in eDirectory

Production I.G. Short. Highly arty. Didn't really get into the plot, but it's interesting visually in a very muted way... like watching a moving, muted watercolor painting sometimes.... It was an experiment... had a lot of potential. Interesting for it's strange visual style. Xeogred -- Castle of Cagliostro != Castle in the Sky. Both Miyazaki though... Meh, personally I don't give a flying fuck about ranks anyways, they change when they change. *shrugs* Which is why I've never noticed that a rank I'd already had becomes a "mystery" again.
