Considering though that every single version of OS X has had an Intel version though I do expect that bugs will be minimal.

Yes, I'd be curious as to how stable OS X is on hardware it's not familiar with. Unlike Windows, the developers of OS X haven't tried to build the OS to support every dodgy two-bit taiwanese piece of hardware....

I find it particularly relevant also in an age where music publishers believe they have the right to install rootkits to people's computers...

As for the attention seeking theory, some people don't know how far to take those things.... so it is still an option.

US $1999 for the lower end model, US $2499 for the higher end one.

The specs are quite good. I'm looking forward to getting one. It will be some months down the track of course; but still.... besides by then hopefully there will be more applications native to the Intel platform rather than having Rosetta do the work.

Btw, yeah, there are already beta OSX versions running on a PC, so I guess it won't take that long before 10.4.4 gets hacked and run on a PC, although they added new security I think.
Also, rumors are that it will be possible to install Windows on an IntelMac (of course not supported by Apple, but they won't/can't stop it).
I won't do it, but for the hardcore gamers it might be a good thing perhaps.

Apple don't mind you running Windows on an Intel Mac at all. In fact, they have a "sure, run Windows" attitude towards it

As for the iBook / MacBook, I'm not sure if the name will change there or not. I suspect it will remain iBook if I think about it -- the iMac stayed an iMac.... I think the reason the name "Powerbook" was dropped is cause it's no longer PowerPC Architecture.

Oh and as for the cost of Apple notebooks -- I agree, I think it's worth every penny. For that money you get a stunning laptop, and you can see all the attention to detail that went into making it, right down to touches like the backlit keyboard, the new power cable, the hard drive that parks itself if it detects you've droppped the laptop (to prevent damage) etc. Touches that at the end of the day make your user experience more enjoyable.

Not to mention that they really are beautiful pieces of hardware.

It only comes with drivers for hardware that comes with a factory stock mac but, there's nothing to stop 3rd party developers from writing drivers. In the next few months, I'd expect a slew of drivers coming from all the different hardware manufacturers.

If they did that, I'd expect cease and desist notices to come out of Apple to those manufacturers, or something like that.

Apple don't want OS X running on any hardware other than their own. That's why they've put the initial protection in in the first place. I'm pretty sure they would act to protect their OS.

They're fine with Windows running on their hardware; but not OS X running on anybody else's. Part of that is that they want people to buy their hardware... but there's also the issue of stability and compatability.... (and the reputation that comes with that)

I'd be interested in seeing more Futurama. I enjoy the series but I think I've seen all of it now, so it gets a bit repetitive.

Well, I doubt there'd be much they could do about open-source stuff; but I think that say if.... nvidia for example started putting out official drivers for OS X for hardware that isn't in a Macintosh, that Apple would have some kind of case with sending a cease-and-desist to nvidia.

And it would definitely be a bad move for ATI, as it would damage the business relationship that they have with Apple.

I didn't say whether it was legal or not.

I said that Apple may have (or pursue) a case in requesting that these companies cease and desist. Apple have been known to aggressively pursue things that have upset them through legal avenues before, and I don't expect that Apple will sit back quietly and allow this to happen without any action.

Since the announcement of the switch to Intel last year, Apple have repeatedly stated that they will not allow OS X to be run on regular PC's and there have been many different types of protection put in place by Apple in an attempt to prevent this. Personally I'd be surprised if we don't see both technological and legal methods used by Apple to try to ensure that OS X is kept to the Macintosh platform.

How legal or illegal something is doesn't necessarily have anything to do with whether a company will sue for damages, send cease-and-desist letters, etc.

Well, to be honest I think the first thing I'd do is stand there slackjawed with a look of utter disbelief on my face.

Then I'd probably get somewhat upset and yell at the guy who ran over my car.

And then I'd contact the appropriate insurance agencies.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with the muscle spasm thing.

If it happens a lot, and is disrupting your ability to do things normally, then it would be worth discussing it with a doctor. They would be able to tell you if it's something serious or not and if necessary recommend you to see a physiotherapist of whatever to fix or reduce the problem.

Other than that, make sure you're stretching, drinking plenty of water, etc, and all the other stuff that makes muscles happy

What, here or your site? Cause you have a background here.

But I don't think that HTML works all that differently here? Does it?

I don't code any differently for here than I do for anywhere else, anyways.

Course, checking your site, it appears you use frames; so maybe that's what you're referring to?

Ah, I just learned something new.

The MacBook Pro and the new Intel iMac don't have a BIOS. (although for that matter, neither do the old PPC ones; they have something called Open Firmware instead) They use Intel's Extensible Firmware Interface.

So at the moment while Apple give their blessing for you to run Windows on a Mac, no version of Windows will run natively.... Vista will work with it though. The 64 bit version of XP supports EFI, however it's not compatible with the Intel Core Duo in the Mac, so that's ruled out too.

So yeah, you can't natively run Windows on a new Mac. Yet.
