I dunno, simulated morons might not be as fun as real morons. I wonder if it's possible to effectively emulate "moron" with a computer program....

Maybe you could just output random names and give them one of a set of sentences such as...
"HAHA l00k i IS a haxOOr"
"I'm better."
"Look to your left. Then to your right. Then in 9 other directions."
"ONOZ" * 100
And other lines.

Yeah, for your generic moron, sure. But they're boring....

As rumoured, Apple's iPhone has been released at this year's Macworld.

It looks pretty. I'm a big fan of Apple products, I tend to find them fairly reliable, and they usually have very good interfaces, so I'm quite interested in this. Most mobile phones I've used have had hideous interfaces, so I would like to see how this thing is.

Course, I'll wait till Ars Technica get one, and "road test" (read: deliberately smash) one before I make any decisions

Whee... shiny Widescreen iPod-y.

Hey hey... there's slightly more to it than that -- it's the only MP3 player my mother and more to the point -- her partner -- were able to figure out how to use.

I'm just hoping that ease of use is in the iPhone when it's released... I dunno... next year...

I'd like to think that my posts aren't difficult to read, but I will admit that I'm more than a little guilty of "waffle".

When I started using the internet, I didn't write as much when I tried to make a point. But as I found my words taken more and more out of context, I found I started using more and more words to try to make my intent clear.

It probably doesn't work, and that would have worried me before. However, I'm now more of the opinion that I don't give a Flying Fuck.

Well, having now watched the "Stevenote" with this, I am more impressed with it than before.

The interface looks gorgeous. Really, gorgeous, and I'm not talking physical appearance alone. Steve is clearly enjoying himself as he shows the audience how beautifully simple the device is to operate. Even though the device is capable of many things, it appears to be very, very easy to use -- this in and of itself is a "Killer App" for me when it comes to mobile phones.

I find it an interesting move to see that it's locked down for 3rd party developers and such, but then I can see why Apple have done this too, so far. They want the device to work, first and foremost. This is a way that they can ensure the reliability of the device.

I worry that a lot of networks won't like it though because they won't be able to use the iPhone to push out their "exclusive" and "cool" content. However, this disappoints me, as I have no interest in any of that crap. I want a reliable, functional, easy to use telephone that puts ME in control of what I do with it -- I don't want to be forced to interact with things through the marketing filter put in place by a telco.

All in all, it's quite an interesting device. I hope that it does well, so that I get the opportunity to have one in Australia.

Hahaha, this is funny.

I find it interesting that it is a positive thing for Google that the word "Google" has become a verb -- but Adobe consider it a negative thing for Photoshop to be used similarly.

The term "to google" something has fairly likely lead to more people using the Google search engine....

This isn't your phone, then. It's pretty much being locked down to just one carrier, so even if you decide to switch, you're still stuck with it. THey probably disallow third party software to stop you from, say, using Skype on itand bypassing their network entirely.

Oh, by the way, for everyone here, the final price of an iPhone after only one year:

Get ready to fork out a nice $1,936, for just one year of your two year contract

Doesn't sound so great now, does it?

As far as I know, there isn't any "Cingular Only" content on the phone itself, or a "Cingular Only" mini internet it connects to instead of the real internet, and such. This is more what I am referring to. The iPhone does not appear to cater to such marketing bullshit.

As for carriers in Australia, no idea what is happening with that. Cingular are not a carrier in Australia, as far as I know the company has no Australian branch. So I have no idea if Telstra, Optus, Virgin, 3 or Vodafone might pick it up. Because all of these are quite accustomed to bogging down handsets with stupid "extras" they might not want to pick up the iPhone...

This is one of the nice things about having to wait so long. I will have to wait at least a year for the iPhone to be available in Australia. That sounds pretty bad, but I don't think it is.

At the moment there isn't a whole lot of Wireless (Wi-Fi) coverage across Australia, particularly in cities like Adelaide. This has been improving, so in a year's time should be better than currently.

There's the possibility that the price may come down in that time too. And that if there are any bugs and glitches that Apple will work them out as well.

Besides, I'm not expecting the handset market in Australia to change that much in a year. We still need our telco's to catch up with this kind of thing.

I'm more than happy to wait. There's no point wanting a very shiny, but ultimately useless, device.

I hate Telstra. I hope that they don't wind up being the only telco to take on the iPhone.

Telstra make me very sad.

Hmm... work filter hasn't eaten the pictures = win!

Pictures are great. Very cartoony, lots of humor, win all around.

As for the comment about my posting in the doodles thread, there is a reason behind it. My art seems to attract a lot of overly negative criticism (as opposed to "critique") elsewhere, so I figure everything I do is only a doodle.

Any suggestions for some handy Spring Layout?

Well, Spring reminds me of new beginnings and new life, nice and warm and fresh. I can't think of anything specific, but I'd try something with a lot of vibrant colour, perhaps something with a natural theme, ie grass and warm sky? Vivid blue and green, some flowers or birds?

Spring also reminds me of Lamb, but I'm not sure a layout based around Lamb Chops (mmmm) and mint is really that good an idea.... but it is making me hungry.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Have the doctors indicated how bad they think things are? Did they catch it early?

How's your friend doing?

Posted on 01-18-07 03:16 AM, in Red Ears Link
I've heard that many people get red in the ears too. I don't know if I do or not, it's never been pointed out to me. I know that I get red in the face sometimes when I'm embarassed, but I've never noticed my ears or had anybody tell me they've noticed it.

I doubt that it's a circulatory issue though. I know some people who get red all over -- ears, neck, face, right down to their chest, when they are embarassed. I'm guessing it's just one of those things where everyone is different.

As for Kasdarack's comments about girls being evil. Boys are evil too. But they don't seem so evil when they're blushing... Boys blushing or acting coy are cute, it's endearing. Maybe that's why us girls like getting boys to blush. I'm sure boys like to get girls to blush too

I think I go pale too when I'm particularly embarrassed. I guess it would depend why I'm embarassed though -- if I actually feel *bad* about something (ie, that I've fucked up or done something horribly stupid or offensive or whatnot) I usually go pale and get the sick feeling in my stomach too. Perhaps I take those things too seriously, I don't know. But it's certainly different to say, having a bloke say he thinks I'm cute and me going pink in the face.

That all sounds good, but leaves me with only one question -- are you pursuing any weight loss stuff outside of Weight Watchers?

I never went to Weight Watchers myself to lose weight, I did it all my way... curious to see if you had any such plans
