Seeing as how this is generally where all the body-image / body-improvement stuff goes... I suspect this is a lot of a Rydain kinda question

I've lost a lot of weight, but the tops of my arms still appear big and well... flabby... My belly's far from flat, and let's not talk about my arse and thighs...

I walk 6km a day, so I'm still losing weight, and feeling fitter and stuff, but those three problem areas still suck.

So I've been trying some weight -ey stuff.

For my thighs and butt, I'm trying to do squats. Also known as "that thing where Taryn falls over and gets up again" cause I'm real good at it. I also walk, and do some stairs.

For my belly, I've been doing this Pilates thing where I just kinda stand there with my gut sucked in and breathe into my chest a few times. I have also been doing crunches and sit ups and some bridging.

For my upper arms, I've been playing with these cute little 1.5kg dumbells I have for my RSI / wrist stuff, and using them for some kickbacks and tricep extensions.

I'm also skipping rope, but I haven't the faintest what if anything that tones up, it just gets my heartrate up, and I figure my heart could do with something more demanding than a very fast 6km walk sometimes.

So... what are you guys trying to tone up? Anything? Anyone got any pointers to get rid of my bingo wings, my muffin top and my thunder thighs?

lol you boys are funny.

Reminds me oddly of an ad we have in Australia where a guy is buying tampons for his girlfriend. He stands in front of the shelves looking confused for a while, and finds "mini". Looking down at his crotch, he shakes his head "she can't be a mini..." and goes for the biggest tampons on the shelf.

At the counter he asks it they come any larger than the size he got.

The ad has a slogan something about how "women get it" He certainly had noooo idea...

Doesn't... having sex... depend a lot on you having somebody to have sex with?

I don't think I'm in a position to have a relationship, nor will I enter into one until I feel that I am. So sex is kinda out, cause I 'aint payin for it.

But as for what I'm doing, it's mostly just having a go at the moment. Trying a few things out, seeing how I go with it. Trying to make sure I at least work it into my routine and do it. Once I've gotten that little hurdle out of the way I'll start doing more reps, but right now I just had a go at things, did stuff till I felt a little bleh, and went for a 6km walk after.

The backs of both legs are a touch stiff today from something I did yesterday (so uh... walking, jumping rope and squats are the only things I did with my legs) Nothing too bad, but I expect more sore as I progress. I also expect it to get better after a little bit of miscellaneous minor owies.

I'm also willing to accept a little bit of pain. I used to when I was a kid and I'd train up to 10 times a week, it's just that I've gotten slack and soft since.

The only thing I want to try to avoid, very very much so is the slightly broad shouldered look I had as a teen though. Think "Female Olympic Swimmers' Body" (because at least 5 times a week I was swimming, and at least another 2 times I was doing upper body exercise like paddling a surf ski and paddling a surf rescue board). I'd kinda like to avoid or minimize that look if I can...

Saw this earlier, but I had to go out. As I was driving to my destination, the above song came on the radio as part of a live set of Regurgiator's. It seemed appropriate, but everyone's already pointed out why.

Now, I don't know Poser, but can't you texture the skin slightly to remove the shiny look? Maybe something like the tail but more subtle, to very softly show the fur?

With the hair, is it possible to define shadows and highlights more?

Sorry I'm probably not much help, but I have no knowledge of Poser so I don't know what is in its capabilities. If it is limited with such things, the only other thing I can suggest is making these changes in Photoshop?

You honestly cannot be drinking enough of it. Really.

I had... roughly (as I was not keeping count) 2 sparkling burgundy, 2 beer, about 3 Jagerbombs, 4 scotches and the Long Island Iced Tea. It was over a long period of time, but was certainly enough for me to be "ticking along very nicely" prior to the Long Island Iced Tea -- and then messy afterwards. I also threw in two glasses of water over the night, but should have done more.

I don't eat a lot of spicy food, but I don't mind it when I have it. I like curries -- my favourite being Butter Chicken, but that's also the mildest -- I just love the creamy tomatoey flavour. I enjoy hotter curries though, but I frequently wish Butter Chicken had more spice in it because I'm always disappointed with that aspect of it. I'd like to learn how to make Butter Chicken so that I can make it hotter and have myself a good compromise.

Hottest thing I ever had was a mouthful of a very hot mexican dish while out with my family. My brother fancies himself as having good tolerance to hot and spicy food. He routinely scoffs at the Vindaloo offered by his local Indian restaurant, and thus fancied he could handle any hot food that the Mexican restaurant could throw at him. Scoffing at the menu's claim that "Deadly" heat really was extremely hot, and laughing off the waitresses' comments, he ordered the hottest thing on the menu. He even laughed and joked that he should have told the waitress to tell the chef to make it a good one.

There really was no need. One mouthful of it and it became obvious that he was in over his head. And me being the cheeky big sister I am, I turned to him after he was staring, gasping, sweating and oozing chilli from every pore and went "so uh... In over your head?"

This prompted him to dump a forkful of it on my fork when I was drinking my frozen margarita, then stare at me with a (fairly weak) smug look on his face till I ate it.

The sensation was not of heat but more of outright pain. Like maybe I'd eaten some bees. I was quite happy to munch on some lettuce afterwards for a bit till it settled down to it feeling "hot" as opposed to painful.

I only shudder to imagine what it would be like with a few mouthfuls and the sensation building on itself. He did good eating half of his meal... and all the tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber he stole from everyone else to quench the fire...

He says he is going to take his friends to that restaurant later, for torture purposes.

My Fileserver's been up for a month today. It went down when all the electricity in the house went bye bye.

I've only had to restart the Fileserver 3 times all year. It's a fairly reliable little computer. My desktop machine is powered down frequently cause it's in my bedroom and it's noisy. Sometimes this doesn't worry me at all, but some nights it pisses me off, so I turn it off.

My iBook is seldom rebooted, but it does sleep a lot.

I know my eyes watered too, but I dunno about the sweat or the nose stuff. I do remember that I grimaced, nodded slowly and gave my brother an "I'm-going-to-hurt-you" thumbs up.

The hottest chili pepper on the Scoville Scale is the Naga Jolokia pepper (855,000 - 1,041,427 Scoville Units) , followed by the Dorset Naga pepper (876,000 - 970,000) and then the Red Savina Habanero (350,000 - 577,000) pepper.

I 'aint touching any of those with a forty foot pole.

I'm not actually after much help (although some pointers from Rydain would be handy) as I have done sufficient research elsewhere and have some familiarity (if just a bit fuzzy now with time) of weight training from my past. I'm not silly enough to rely on help exclusively from here.

But it's probably not a good idea to describe the majority of the users of this forum as out-of-shape (in one way or another) nerds. You don't know for sure... I certainly don't know who here is fit or not I just see text.

I also asked if anyone else here is doing anything to tone up...

*Runs off series of fairly generic Help Desk Questions to try to get some more information*

Which browser are you using? Have you recently patched/updated it?

Does this happen with all downloads, or just one particular download?

Have you changed anything on your system recently that you can think of that may be affecting this?

Have you tried scanning for spyware?

Does this happen in all browsers, or is it only happening in a particular browser?

Out of curiosity, does anything weird happen when you try to browse discs with My Computer / Windows Explorer?

After looking up a Bowflex I've found it's some kind of a machine, which I don't want. I intend to purchase some free weight stuff later -- but at a cost of at least $160 it's not something I can afford at the moment anyway.

At the moment I am making do with the following, which will be fine for.. a little while...
* skipping rope
* towel to use folded up as a mat on the floor
* 2 x 1.5kg little baby dumbbells
* kitchen chair
* a single step out the front of the house

I will not be purchasing any machines. Besides, I haven't the space for one anyway. Low tech, not-too-much-space-using things only. My home is tiny, and I am poor.

It's fixed now... that particular problem. I think I need to lay off of this for a while.

While PHP is something that I've genuinely wanted to learn for a while, it's also been being used a touch as a defensive/coping mechanism -- which started out working until certain events bought the effects of others to a head, and then a single line of php code caused something in my head not to function properly.

So uh... I need to lay off it for a bit perhaps.

No, the problem isn't with the language.

The problem is in my psyche, PHP just proved to be a trigger for some severe emotional dysregulation.

Ah. Well, if it happens again, check your Download preferences.

Go to Tools then Options and go to the Downloads section. You're looking for the Download Folder section -- check there that it's not set to A:\

The sex thing is funny. Sure, it burns some energy, but I don't think it actually tones anything... so it's a touch off-topic.

As for repetition, I'm working up to it at the moment. At the moment as I've said, I'm more concerned with getting it into my routine, so that it becomes a part of my life, something that I do regardless. The next step is more focus on repetition.

The idea isn't to do this for a few months -- the idea is to make this an ongoing part of my life and maintain a certain level of strength, tone and fitness.

Besides, fitness routines are kinda calming... the walk certainly is. I can start out all angry and stuff from work or the current debt stuff at the start of the walk, and furiously walk along... and as I walk I calm down and by the end I'm all kinda.. relaxed... in a slightly exhausted kind of way

Yeah, just talk to her.

Tell her later that you went to kindergarten with her, but I wouldn't use it as a starting point for conversation. Maybe something to tell her later if you hit it off, she might find it amusing.
