Posted on 09-19-06 11:32 AM, in Animated: Fighting former housemate guy Link
I was pixelling at work, and I decided I wanted to make a little animated fighting guy. So, I asked my housemate if he was a little animated fighting guy in a computer game, what weapons would he use. He said he wanted "double cimitars" so I made this for him:

It's based to some extent off a King of Fighters sprite, which helped me actually learn a whole lot about working on that particular scale better, so that's good

I'm not sure if my scimitars are real curvy... sometimes they look ok, sometimes not. And I've since noticed there's all different kinds of scimitars, big broad ones and little skinny ones and I dunno which type he was talking about...

But overall, I think it looks okay. Not too bad considering I don't often animate things. It's just an idle animation, but I have trouble wtih even that much... If you actually wanted me to animate him to have him DO something with the scimitars uh... my brain will probably explode.

See, he never had access to my bank account -- he had access to wholesale businesses that my business dealt with to purchase things.

Acting as an "agent" of my business, he made purchases -- purchases I was not aware of. When I became aware of one such purchase, he also claimed that he had paid that account, and as he had gone to some effort to make sure no angry calls or nasty letters came my way (or any documentation thereafter) as far as I knew, it was. It has since been revealed he'd hidden a lot more from me, and I was lucky to have chanced upon that particular one, even if it was covered up afterwards.

My bank account is fairly "healthy" I guess; it's my business reputation that has been completely fucked over, and has spilled over into fucking over my reputation as a person.

His father believes that my ex may have been trying to "protect" me, and that is possible; but the thing is, I can't do much about things at all now he's "protected" me from knowing about things until they reached a point of personal litigation. Furthermore, my ex is utterly remorseless about his actions, and has continued this trend with other people also.

Posted on 09-20-06 02:03 AM, in lol, hoax email "virus" Link
And the winner of the "omg nobody can be so stupid as to believe this..." award goes to the following hoax email virus forwarded several times to us today:

PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE

Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment.

This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel.

Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS:

You should be alert during the next days:

Do not open any message with an attached filed called "Invitation" regardless of who sent it.

It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which "burns" the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all your contacts.

It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called "invitation", though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Oh no! My Zero Sector!! It's burning the C of the whole Hard Disk! Let's call Microsoft and CNN!

Whyyyy are people so dumb???

For the record, there WAS an email that linked to a page with a virus (trojan actually) in 2004. Said Trojan was weak as piss, did no damage and was BALEETED by all AV very quickly. It was a joke.

The above nonsense has spread more than the original "threat"

I just love the wording of it. Things like the "Zero Sector" which is apparently "where the vital information is kept".

And things that "burn" your "whole hard disc C"

And other pseudo-computer terms

Throw in a few "respectable" names like McAfee, Microsoft and CNN.... (note you'll not find any information about this at McAfee, Microsoft or CNN.... ) and you seem to have the makings of a great piece of scaremongering that will make IT analysts laugh, and everyone else forward like crazy

ridiculous

Rom Maniac -- I already meditate, but probably not as often as I should. I find it's hard to find the time. It sort of helps with the anxiety aspect.

Blah... and I'm so bad with words today.... let's try saying what I've been trying to say (for approximately 45 minutes now) again...

You know how some people think that others are "weak" for being on medication? I wonder if perhaps it's cause they don't see the real freaky lows of things like Depression. They see the fairly normal stuff.

Atypical Depression sufferers are capable of being quite normal in social situations -- it's a characteristic of that subtype of Depression; we respond to highs and lows. Social situations are usually highs; we react positively, generally Atypical Depression sufferers will come across cheerful and normal in a social situation. So, nobody thinks that there's a problem. And then cause they don't see it, maybe they think you're being "weak" for being on medication for a problem they don't see.

Thing is, with my situation, it's only been family and my former partner who saw/see the lows. And I suspect that's not something that is exclusive to my experience with Depression. Other people don't see me crying into the sink when I'm trying to do the dishes, cause they won't come clean. Or screaming. Or when I'm suicidal, or when I have self-harmed. The scary stuff -- the stuff I'm on medication in an effort to prevent from happening.

Does that make sense? I dunno...

Aww... I watch Top Gear sometimes here -- I have several GB of it on my Fileserver at home.

I hope he's okay; and I hope that he recovers from the head and spinal injuries with no long term ill effects.

Well, that's when you screw with his head and tell him that by forwarding on that email, he's already infected his Zero Sector, and that it is only a matter of time before his computer will crash.

Thankfully, you know the solution (but it's very very complex) and you'll fix it for [insert monetary reward or other reward here]

Whee... I've only recently gotten home from my evening exercise.

After work, I've been getting off the train or tram a fair way from my home, and walking around 5.5km home. Today I walked 6km home But overall I've had a quieter week this week than last week (because at the end of last week I had a 12km walk in an annual event here)

I think the recent increase in the distance I walk might be why my weight is fluctuating so much at the moment too But my pants aren't getting tighter (aside from me going down a size) so it's all good

Just wondering, what exercise do you guys do on a daily basis?

An adult is supposed to get 30 minutes of exercise a day -- so what do you do to keep yourself fit?

I came up with an idea cause of something I'm chasing up with my own money issues -- is there some kind of ombudsman or other regulatory body you can bring this up with, to have them intervene and come up with some kind of payment option that isn't so... nasty??

Additionally, are there any "crisis" loan/debt agencies there you can talk to? They can usually assist with things like this, not necessarily with loans but through other means.

Seriously unhealthy? I ate some instant pasta thing last night. It was really lazy and not particularly tasty... but it was warm, and fast.

Other than that uh... I tend to now throw out bad food.

Guys -- it sounds like it's the Insurance company that's asking for the money -- at least, that's my initial interpretation of the first post.

Which is why I've suggested an ombudsman or other regulatory body / something to mediate between them and the Insurance company, because this is just unfair.

It's normal for weight to fluctuate a bit too, (I know mine certainly does) so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

As I've said so many times in this thread that I'm sure it's become cliche, just keep at it. Keep doing the right things, keep exercising every day, drinking lots of water, eating lots of veggies, etc.

I know sometimes it doesn't feel like you're getting anywhere, but if you keep at it it all works out.... it just likes to test your patience and your resolve along the way

Good job with it so far
