I find this to be quite true throughout my life of gaming. Most every Sony/Microsoft item I own has broken or worn out. I play all 3 previous-gen systems regularly and have found that Sony has the worst hardware. I've replaced a PS2 three times already. Problems with the laser. Go fucking figure. I actually bought a slim PS2 with a laser fix mod inside to prevent it from dying. I also replaced the DVD drive inside my Xbox and the power supply twice. The GameCube needed a laser POT adjustment after 5 years of regular gameplay. Extremely simple to do.

And for the record, every non-Nintendo controller I have bought to date (since the beginning of my gaming life 18 years ago) has broken. I don't throw my controllers around, but I do play games vigorously.

Well, it sounds like you are competent enough to go and read the FAQs and follow the rules, so approval shouldn't be a problem there. Although, this should still be in ROM-Hacking.

That being said, I hope you get approval on the spot, and I welcome you to Acmlm's.

If you would like to take a good look at some hacks, you can check out some of the SMW hacks that float around here, or you can go to SMW Central.

I also recommend Drewseph's Super Metroid hack, Super Metroid Redesign.

Music hacking is a good talent to have around here. I'm getting into it myself, starting with SMB3. I'll say this: There's an understanding barrier you have to get through to start hacking this, and while you may have some skills in the composition area, it is no good unless you break that barrier. But nonetheless, welcome, and good luck!

I have done this many times on my N64. It's hard to do, because you have to be fast at pressing A, but it's doable by humans.

This layout was made by JDavis for the Wii club. It's kick ass. However, due to growing popularity, my fanfic is getting big, so I gave it a home and a link in the form of a banner. I put it at the bottom of the layout, and it blends in pretty well.

I'm going to give you some suggestions that relate somewhat to SMILE's GUI.

Edit the Leveldata and Clipdata at the same time. I.E. click on one of the graphic tiles, use the clipdata drop down list to pick its attribute, then start drawing.

Have the editor scroll your editor window in real time. Currently, it only refreshes after you let go of the scrollbar. This can be quite annoying.

Allow for a bigger editing window for the room you are editing. Some of us have huge screens and want that bigger size.

Try to be more specific for the clipdata slope attributes. Having to look through the game to see what blocks use which attribute and then memorize them = fail.

Also, be more specific with the "Tileset" and "Music" drop-downs under "Level Properties".
Numbers don't quite tell me what music/tileset I'm choosing.

Make it so when I right click on a tile in the editing window it copies that tile, so I can left click that tile somewhere else.

I meant copying what's already on the map with the right click, yes. Just like what SMILE does.

Anyway, this thing looks amazing! For those of us who have huge screens (mine's 1680x1050 16:10) this is going to do wonders for ease of hacking. Thanks!

I can see how your method of clipdata editing can work to its advantages.

...I have to be honest, there's a video of me acting just like the N64 kid when I got Sonic The Hedgehog with a Genesis. I was like 5 or 6.

Fucking crazy times those were. I don't ever touch the 3D games at all. I don't know why, they just never appealed to me.

I don't get why Squeeeeenix developers are remaking all these FF games when the masses are demanding a FFVII remake in the first place. I understand not wanting to mess with a game because of its success, but when you take a look at FFVII:AC, FFVII: DoC, Crisis Core, and whatever else the fuck they are planning, that's a pretty hefty risk to the FFVII franchise. So, why the fuck is there no remake of FFVII?
