| Personally, I like to bust out my GBA (Yeah, no DS for me) and play whatever's in it until I'm bored, then change what's in it and repeat. The other day I got like 2% closer to maxing out my game of Sonic Battle while WoW was taking forever. Damn those Ultimate skills, can never find them all.
Or I go to a friend's house and play Cave Story for hours on end. That's always fun. |

| Oh well. Just prooves the popularity of preexisting symbols. And I'm also incredibly full of myself and convinced that mine was the best anyway.
It was fun to make, too. A pleasant break from actually coding the game. Grats, peoples. I will own all your asses the next time we have one of these. |

| I suppose I would like to join in, perhaps as a midgame boss battle. Like, number six.
I would show up as Rufus (from my avatar), perhaps... But I would have to make absolutely sure that no one even thinks that they can ever ever ever use him for anything else, and also some specific entry in the credits saying he's my character (like how in the Mario Kart games there's credit to Rare for DK, you know?), because I'd rather not worry about legality issues later. I'd like my "level" to be an island floating in the sky, with a tall blue tower in the middle. Five or more floors, please, and battle me at the top. Challenges should be oriented more towards puzzle solving than tough fights. Not a big island, but big enough for it to make sense to build a tower on it. I'd also like to know if anything's changed from the old one... I looked at the thread in the archive, and the story seems kinda... meh to me. Has it been made more different? And who are the main characters, anyway? Are you using the Final Fantasy-style battle patch? How large should my battle sprite be? And could Peardian make a userbar-sized version of the support image so it will fit in my signature marquee? Now that I've hit you with a barrage of questions, I'm going to ponder just how I will portray Rufus in three dimensions. My cup of rhyme is lightly seasoned with thyme. Originally posted by me Just three questions that have been overlooked... Oh, and I'm proving my impatience here. MM, your Puffy Puff looks like the product of laziness. It lacks the smoothness of the other sprites. I suggest redoing the outline to make it more round and less pointy. And I would think that there would need to be more frames than four or five, especially if we go into the whole attack animation thing. Which I'd like to do, and I'd help make the sprites for it, because it would make the whole thing look more professional. And it would be valuable practice for my own game. Yes, I love bombs. |

| The point of this game is to change one word into another, by changing one letter at a time, in the fewest number of steps possible. Each step must be a real word, as well. For example:
Sky > Pig sky < sly slay slap sap sip pip pig < In other cases, I'll ask for an intermediate word. It's important to note that each word may only be used once in each puzzle. For example: Duck > Wing > Fly duck < dunk dung ding wing < win fin fen fey fly < For each round, the player with the shortest path earns two points. If there is a tie, then all the winning players receive one point. If you use a word that does not exist, any other player may point this out, and you will lose one point, as well as being disqualified for the round. If you attempt to correct someone, but the word does exist, then the challenger will lose one point, as well as being disqualified for the round. You may only submit one path per puzzle. If you edit your post later, then it won't be counted. You may use: any English word you can find on Dictionary.com that is not an abbreviation or acronym. No NASA, for example. Yet another exception: if the word has entered common usage, and it's okay to spell it without the CAPS, then you may use it. Laser and Scuba are good examples of this. As of this moment archaic and colloquial words ARE allowed. Prefixes and suffixes are not words, although the online dictionary will output them. Don't try it. I suppose that's it for the rules. Let's start with a classic... Red > Blue (edited by Koneko on 03-13-06 06:05 AM) (edited by Koneko on 03-13-06 03:33 PM) |

| Okay, thank you. I suppose once I get off my lazy ass I can make some content.
Now that I know what direction was meant by forwards (towards the user), I have to scrap the sprite I was making. But I can probably make a better one from that perspective anyway. So it's all good. And hey, would you appreciate it if I made my own music for my section? If so, what format? Because I've been having this song idea for a while now... yeah. *work work work* |

| I belch, vomit, and sneeze simultaneously.
And I still haven't reached the general level of impossible stupidity exhibited by many of those around me. So being able to lie about your abilities preserves your intellect. Or perhaps it preserves only the impression of intelligence... No thanks, I'll take the blue pill. |

| I hate you passionately. Thank you for the download link that in reality goes to pr0n.
Please don't ever do that again. Supposing you just meant to have it available and not worry about bandwidth, there are better options out there that suck less. Even Freewebs or Tripod would be better. The screens look nice. Your grammar doesn't, but that's okay. |

| Kuroi jumps down from the tree limb, the vines around him unravelling into a pile at his feet. Somehow the tree burns unnaturally fast, reduced to ashes in seconds. As soon as he hits the ground, Kuroi charges at his opponent, his dagger veiled in the silvery light of life. He goes for a single stab, moving very quickly, then jumps backwards to stop any permanent melee from developing. It's quite possible that the pure energy of life could disrupt whatever dark magic holds Jack to this world, but it's too small a dose to banish even the weakest skeleton. Still, it's enough to show just what Jack is dealing with here...
"Hm. Such flaws are not present in all mortals... Often I consider them, not flaws, but strengths. Without fear there is no courage. Without pain there can be no joy. Thus do you find your own weaknesses, within those of mortals." Kuroi smiles a grim smile. |

| As the death ball impacts the dagger in the ground, it vanishes. Simultaneously, an equal-size orb of silvery energy appears at the tip of the other dagger, in Kuroi's hand. Seizing his sudden advantage, he rolls forward under his opponent's attack, then flips into the air. For an instant while his dagger points at Jack, Kuroi's eyes flash bright blue, and the sphere of light fires itself at high speed, aimed at the ground beneath Jack's feet. On impact, the sphere will explode into a fairly large sphere of destructive white magic, which could perhaps deal some serious damage to the target.
Kuroi lands heavily on his feet, continuing the rolling motion once more. Turning as he rises, he speaks to his opponent in a level tone. "If that is so, then why do you seek battle with me?" |

| Aight, see, Rufus in the game he comes from is a very malleable character. Depending on how you choose to develop him, he can be anywhere on the magic vs physical scale. This is because for most of the game, he's on his own- So he needs to be versatile.
Boss Battle 6 is two bosses before Myster's first appearance. Ooh, Myster, you seem to have the balance a little bit off. Regular enemies are doing 5 or 6 damage at level three, and after level six you deal 10 damage. So maybe make yourself a little stronger. (Or maybe I have the levels system completely wrong- I really don't have a very good idea how they'll be set up. Maybe a bit of an outline, that shows both the bosses and where the new levels show up, so that we have a better understanding of how the game is laid out.) So anyway, I basically can give you two options for handling Rufus. The first, which I like the idea of, would be that there would be several Rufus enemy entries, and the event for the battle would pick a random one, so you'd get a different set of stats for him each time. But that would be considerably more work, and the battle would be nearly impossible for players to prepare for. So maybe that's good for you, maybe it's not. On the other hand, I could just pick one style for him and restrict him to that. It'd be easier for you to set up, but I think that would be less interesting. Your call, really. |

| Kuroi gives a small chuckle.
"I use what works. As a humble servant of the Oracles, I am granted whatever power the situation necessitates." He raises his right hand high above him, and another blueish-silver column of light surrounds him. As if in a trance, he tosses his remaining dagger high above him. It rises higher and higher, perhaps kept aloft by the strange magic in the moonlight. Clasping his hands together as if to pray, they are quickly surrounded by a blindingly bright blue aura of energy. This sudden burst of light reveals the surrounding area to be something other than what it seemed to be... or, conceivably, it actually changed or even obscured the environment. Each tree is gone, replaced by a silvery-white translucent crystal, vaguely treelike in its shape. A similar tree-crystal exists where the burned tree used to stand, as well. Starting from Kuroi's feet and expanding outwards, the grassy ground changes into hexagonal shiny white tiles, and grass, bushes, gravestones, and the like completely vanish. As Kuroi speaks, his voice carries an otherworldly echo... "Welcome to the Quartz Grove, my able adversary." |
