First of all, we're not the ones killing others in the name of our country or religion. We, in a way of course, didn't really start this war. This happened because of 9-11.
They kill women and children daily. For instance Sadaam Husein, sorry if spelling is wrong, killed many women and children in one town just because there was an attepmt of an assassination upon him. We kill them they kill us. For everyone of us they kill they rejoice the parents of the ones killed rejoice the families rejoice. All they care about is killing us. They see it as a martyrdom to kill one of us and then be killed.

Interesting. You seem to have taken my broad statement, roughly "War is bad, because it's murder no matter what" and turned it into "All soldiers everywhere are merciless killers and we should let people kill us." Your powers of interpretation are truly brilliant.

Also, the "They killed some of us, so it's okay for us to kill all of them" mentality is what I find perhaps most frightening of all the human race's many terrible facets. Many armies have such battle cries as "Remember the Alamo" and more recently "We will never forget" and variations. No one yet has been as accurate as "Remember the horrible atrocity they committed upon us that will unconditionally forgive the horrible atrocity we will soon visit upon them!" (Thank you, Terry Pratchett.) You also said, "All they care about is killing us." What. Did you just generalize an entire religion of people into a single desire? I think you did.

I think a lot of people believe things like this because in many ways propaganda is more successful than I had feared. The terrorist attacks on 9/11/01 were done by Arab Muslims. Maybe. There weren't any bodies, so the evidence is that a terrorist group claimed credit for the attacks. All of this has somehow been twisted together to resemble "All Arabs and Muslims hate us and want to kill us. For our own defense we must kill all of them before they kill any more of us." I find the irony sickening that it's entirely possible that the twin towers and the Pentagon were attacked, not by Arab Muslims, but instead some radical group determined to frame the entire demographic and start a 'holy war' against the Middle East. Either way, a war is what we're in, and it isn't against the ones who claimed credit for 9/11.

The current war was started, officially, over Saddam Hussein's refusal to allow inspection of weapons factories, and supposed hiding of WMD. It's been claimed that the war was really about the oil, and by others that the WMD were just a pretense to overthrow Saddam's dictatorship. How it started doesn't need to be the main focus. What matters is that 'our' soldiers are occupying Iraq, and there doesn't seem to be any progress being made. It would make my day if someone could show me proof that something is being accomplished over there.

Wow. This has gone completely off the original topic. My apologies. If anyone wants to debate my whole, "It doesn't matter to me what age they are, war and killing are terrible, life is precious" view, please do so.

In what way are the Sunni Muslims in Iraq linked to al-Qaeda? Please explain, I'm rather confused by this. Are all Muslims everywhere responsible for the actions of a radical few? And what does Sunni have to do with this?

It's far better to convince people that they shouldn't hit you in the first place than to hit them back. I am of the opinion that diplomacy is always an option, and it's usually the best one. No, I don't hit people who hit me. Revenge is an idea that is fundamentally flawed, because if you hit them back then they will hit you again, and you've given them quite a bit of justification, in many people's minds. Violence is the product of shortsightedness, stupidity, and anger. It doesn't need to be the default response.

No, Bush isn't trying to take over the world. No one can do this in their presidential term, under present conditions in world politics. I think not even he is dumb enough to try in just two or three years. Annex the Middle East, maybe; He might be stupid enough to try that.

But of course the Vienna Convention is being ignored. The United Nations has no power to punish, so there's really no incentive for the US to pay attention to international law. Other countries will get mad, sure... But the government is absolutely sure that no one will risk a World War Three over the conquest of a few countries that have no alliances with any Western countries.

Funny, this topic started about the ages of soldiers, look at it now...

Heh... I started with Bulbasaur the first time because I didn't know any better. Then I used Squirtle. And Squirtle is win.

And I was sad in RBY because Gengar, who was my favorite, sucked in PvP because everyone used psychics.

For 25 to 30 dollars you can get enough plateware and silverware for 4 people from a Goodwill. Now, when you take that initial investment you've already spent two months worth. Now, the total cost of running water into a sink two or three times a week is probably less than a dollar.
Ahh, but paper plates can't be used for all the same things that dishware can, like my earlier example of pasta, or how about meat and potatoes smothered in gravy. Things like that would soak straight through.
... Dude. He was arguing AGAINST paper plates. According to him, paper plates cost roughly $600 over five years. If he had said "a dollar" instead of "less than a dollar," then the total cost for five years of washing dishware would be about $260. And he said less than. Ergo, he argues for dishware. Also...

Emphasis mine, of course. I believe you fail.

Oh, and dishware gets my vote as well. All my reasons have already been stated.

I am extremely turned off and offended by smoking. I don't want to spend my life with someone who smokes. I don't think there's anything sexy about it. In fact, I would stop being in a relationship with someone if I found out that they smoked. I consider it a stupid thing to do.

Please note that the contents of my posts represent my opinions, and it is quite frankly impossible to alter them (the opinions, that is) with words on a message board. Thank you.

Oh, and you could replace smoking with drinking and it would still be true. Or with smoking anything else, for that matter.

Also, because I don't care whether or not the topic is locked, and because there's no good reason for it to be said again: Cigarettes can kill you. People have argued against this to me. And that's really sad.

Ketra finally realizes that Dragon Master is gone. Then she realizes that her powers are back. With a quick thought, she zaps all her belongings back into storage... and the room begins to explode, the area of the Omega Shot's explosion being what it is. Ketra leaps at a door to another room, away from the windows where the blast comes. As she approaches the wooden door, it turns into some kind of silvery liquid, and she passes through a small hole in the now-falling mercury. Not looking left or right, Ketra flies straight up, letting out an unearthly psychic screech as she does so, conveniently shattering anything made of glass or crystal within a few hundred feet. Soaring up through a busted skylight, Ketra goes faster and faster, trying to escape what is ultimately inevitable. Or very close to inevitable, anyway. The very tip of her tail is scorched, reducing perhaps three hairs to vapor.

She looks down to see a crater where there used to be a few city blocks. Slowly levitating down, she casts her eyes around to see how the other players fared... What is she thinking? Why does the game matter? How many people just died? Battle is a terrible thing... Why is this a battle? It was just a game of tag... That's all it was...

And now This.

A more somber Ketra begins to glow with a purple aura. It's obvious that the game is over, and she has to stay nearby for another day to wait for the others... She has to be prepared for whatever misguided wrath is tossed her way.

So I've become interested in doing speedruns of a few games (Notably, Cave Story), but I'm at a loss as to how to record a movie file of it. I'd prefer a program that's free and will allow me to do a single-segment (that is, won't stop recording after seven minutes). Does anyone here know of such a program?

And before someone tells me to google it, I have, and no solution has presented itself.

(ooc: Long time no see. Man, I sat here in indecision for minutes; Fight you, or watch you eat an innocent child? They're both so good! But in the end, there was only one choice.)

The man does not look up from his prayers. A single beam of soft white light, coming from somewhere in the sky, illuminates a small circle around him. Long, black hair rests against the darkened leather armor covering his back. Slowly, he stands, turning to face the one approaching. His skin is a pale white, and his eyes are violet, bottomless pits of darkness. His ears are pointed, but less so than his stare. From his belt, two curved silvery daggers hang without sheaths.

The act of rising reveals what he was praying to; A small stone carving of a young girl, wearing a beautifully inscribed dress, holding a sphere in one hand, waving with the other. The man snaps his long fingers, and a strong wind blows by. The statue seems to crumble into golden dust, which flies away in the night...

The man then speaks in reply. His accent is unusual and hard to place.

"Greetings, deathling. My name is Kuroi. And as is said throughout many of the cities in this world, I'd like to ask you to bring it on."

Kuroi draws both daggers at quite a high speed, then jumps high into the air, landing on a thick tree branch after completing two full forward flips. His light disappears as soon as he leaves it, but it seems as though he can find his way without it. A careful observer might notice a slight tightening in his features, showing intense concentration, and also perhaps that his black leather boots begin to be covered in vines. Kuroi stands ready for his opponent to come to him...

Kuroi's eyes harden, as he... Drops a dagger? His left-hand dagger falls quickly, and point-first, burying itself deep into the ground. He makes a quick vertical slash with the other, which leaves behind a trail of pearly glimmers in the sky. As the green orb approaches, the stardust quickly rushes towards it, and as the two collide, Kuroi seems to be bracing himself for an explosion of some magnitude... But it never arrives. The two elements, in effect perfect opposites, merely cancel each other out. He doesn't quite manage to keep his surprise out of his voice.

"You seem quite confident in your abilities. My guess of deathling was not too far from the truth, I see..."

Kuroi's legs are beginning to take on qualities of plant matter. It seems somehow as though he is becoming one with the tree...
