So, uhm, I made a table since I was bored and waiting for a new puzzle. Feel free to berate me about the messyness of my code, but it's a square of squares of squares with clearly defined borders, or at least that's what it looks like in lololol.
Quote this post to see how randomly complicated that is. There's no way it would be easy to put numbers in it. I may as well mention how annoying it is to have to avoid linebreaks because of the board coding. Whatever, I was just bored.  |

| The students are always messing around with the settings on the computers, because the tech staff have no idea what they're doing. Officially we use IE, but they all downloaded FF immediately, it was kinda funny. Sometimes I open it to find Crtl-Alt-Del, sometimes it's some sports page, it's been Irritability for more than three weeks now. Someone set the homepage to Maddox last year, and usually the crap (pr0n, etc) is fixed before anyone cares.

| 25: Practice making palettes for a long time before you make the actual palettes you plan on using. The gradient feature is quite possibly your best friend, so learn how to use it.
26: A good level is one that is challenging, but doesn't spend a lot of time staying in one place or moving back and forth. For example, players will be bored if they have to run all the way to the right, pick up a P-Switch, run all the way back to the left, then start the level part of the level. Basically, you should be able to keep up a good speed throughout, while still having to avoid obstacles and make tricky jumps. Tempo! 27: Avoid killing players unfairly. Tell them beforehand if a custom block will autokill them, don't make blocks that will hurt Mario while riding Yoshi, don't place pits that look exactly like the surrounding ground... etcetera. |

| Haha, well, this is a thread for cypher puzzles. I'll apply a cypher I make myself to a word or phrase, or several phrases, and show you the result. Your job (If you care) is to try to figure out what the logic is behind my secret code, and explain it as well as you can. If you get the correct answer, you earn three points; There's a bonus point awarded for having the same logic, and you can earn up to another two by providing a cypher'd version of your explanation along with the English one. In general, the phrases I use will be easily recognizable once they're decoded, and I will provide a hint along with the puzzle, as well as any that people ask for. This is supposed to be fun, so don't break your head. If there are any special characters (like Japanese or something) then it'll say so; In other words, any ?s are intentional if languages aren't mentioned. An example is in order.

But hey, it was an absolutely delicious application of cut and paste, nested tables, and Notepad's find/replace option. You need to stop me from fooling around like this, I might hurt someone. Snow, hovering in place, begins twirling his lance around him in seemingly random yet somehow graceful arcs, leaving trails of snow fluttering through the air in its path. Gradually the circles become closer and closer together to a single vertical line around him, and the snow leaves a similar track along his cloaks. Eventually, he tosses the lance straight up into the air. It vanishes on the way down, and Snow has enough time to shout... "Serene Heart!" ...before eight identical lances pierce him from all directions, through tiny dimensional portals. As this occurs, a sound like breaking glass can be heard from miles away... Something has changed about Snow, but it's not obvious yet. The lances disappear, but not the wounds, and he manages to maintain his hovering position as he's suddenly holding the lance again. There are obvious slices through the clothing he wears, but there's no blood coming out. "See?... Disaster. And don't worry, nothing like that is going to happen to you... You'll have a much more fun defeat." He beckons to Schwa with his lance. "Try another one of those Best Shots of yours. I am not willing to admit that Desert Sentinel is your best attack." |

Clasping his hands together, Snow begins to chant in a voice far below any spectrum of hearing. As the non-sound passes by objects, its force is carried into them; The sea and clouds ripple with power, and air currents push strongly away from him. Then, out of the wounds just inflicted, black and purple smoke rises into the sky, spread out and pushed away by the aforesaid infrasound. Gradually the symbols of Tranquil Domain begin to pulse with bright yellow light, faster and faster as more smoke pours out. The rain abruptly stops, and the clouds disappear... The sun shines down strongly onto the battlefield (battlesea?), and somehow the sunlight carries the same sigils. Finally, the black smoke stops rising. It forms itself into a black, lusterless sphere the size of a basketball. The runes in the sunlight, in the air, and in the ocean all shine with white light. Then, suddenly, the sphere expands to fill all available space, enveloping all matter within miles. The runes are still visible, and Snow shouts the third and final spell in the ritual... "Unity Reaver!" The runes and the sphere explode simultaneously. Two gigantic shockwaves of energy wash over the reilluminated land, one light and the other darkness. However, these are not by any means standard Holy and Dark... No, this attack is made of white Unity and black Oblivion, siphoned into the Material Plane from the primal elements of existence still floating around in Hyperspace. These shockwaves are moving at different speeds, and right before reaching the land, they collide with each other, cancelling out harmlessly. Damage dealt before this point, though, is beyond description. Panting, Snow manages to catch his breath well enough to speak. A closer look reveals that he was at the exact center of both explosions, avoiding just barely the beginning of the shockwave. He's worn himself out, though... No special attacks for another five turns. "There... That good enough... for you? Still a friendly spar, though. I'm just showing off." Snow smiles, holding his lance defensively in both hands, watching to see how well Schwa dealt with the Reaver... |

In general, though, I'll match my level of detail to the person I'm fighting, so I won't burden you with the masterpieces I spend hours on for Schwa. He slams his palms against each other, and a column of fire descends from the sky to land with him unharmed at the center, timed to blast away both the incoming monk and the one swinging the pike. | Well... Either it will be awesome, or it will suck. It's a cool idea, but getting fifty hackers together is hard enough without them all needing to contribute one level. Obviously there would need to be quality control, so that the levels wouldn't suck, but since some levels would need no editing people who submitted levels that were edited would feel like they were being personally insulted, that favorites were being played, etc.
That said, I'd love to contribute. |
