| Actually, I have had 180! But it never gets higher than that. Here is how you do it- In the begining of the game, don't do anything, do not get any stars. Simply use gameshark, to get 175 stars. Now go and talk to the toads that have stars, and go catch the bunny twice. Now you should have 180 stars. | |||

LOL!
Funny, but strange. It was supposed to be- "BEWARE OF PROFFESSOR!" Oh well. Strangely enough, "PRESS START" and the big list of credits are all in regular text. Modifying them makes the game crash in project 64, but in 1964 it works perfectly! Perhaps we could add our names to the ending credit screen?
We could also change "PRESS START" into "PRESS ENTER". I think the reason for this text or code issue is because "PRESS START" and the credits are in mario-type font, but other text is not. "Super mario 64" was a model, not text! By the way, here are some other funny screenshots I got-
He looks like a baby!
??????
I got him to sleep and fly underwater to! Just goes to show what you can do with a little bit of gameshark. |

Ok I'm wasting too much time debating about this... Proffessor Gad, nice pictures but I don't think they deserve to be here. There are tons of things that can be done with a gameshark, but this is not the point of this thread (I guess that discussing text encoding is neither but text takes less space). But hey don't stop having fun because of this

There are also some programs that recover deleted files, that is if they where not deleted to long ago..... Please give the ips to us if you manage to recover it.
Edit: Here is a good recovery program- http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecovery.html (edited by proffessor_gad on 02-27-06 09:39 PM) |

| I just downloaded a version of super mario 64 ds.nds, and after looking at it....
Lets just say that I can't wait until an emulator comes out that can emulate it! Inside of the rom I found (just to name a few) - normal_obj, vrbox, mario_cap_puton_true, mario_model, obj_star_silver, coin_blue_poly, obj_door_keyhole, water_bomb, L_tex_body, Y_head_eat, Y_tex_sleep, door_open, obj_mario_cap, the list keeps going and going! All of these found items were in btp, bca, and bmd file format. Of course it was not all in this type of code, there was alot that I did not understand! But still, I think that hacking super mario 64 ds will be 50% easier than hacking super mario 64. But as I have said, nothing I can do until a working emulator comes out. If any of you know of such an emulator, please say so!!!!!!!! P.S.- DesMuMe will not work, it only emulates the title screen, and then it crashes or makes a weird looking screen. |

| I don't like going to much of topic, but you forced me.
Just a few words and we will stop this nonsence. Okay? First of all I do have a ds with super mario 64 ds, and I do have a nintendo 64 system with super mario 64, so concerning that I am clean. Second is the fact that ANY form of hacking roms is illegal and downloading roms is illegal. You can make a backup copy of a rom yourself as long as you do not give it to others. Considering this, we might as well say that we all are found guilty of crime. Don't tell me that I am some type of black hat cracker, until you look at what you have been doing yourself. Now please, enough of this! (edited by proffessor_gad on 03-06-06 09:36 PM) |

| Nice. Can't wait till it is done.
By the way, I accidently changed some terrain values in the game. Clumby me! But my point is that editing terrain is possible. Changing one value, such as B3 to F4 can make the terrain around the castle's cannon higher!( It makes it like the terrain around the second cannon in bobomb battlefield ) But it does not change the actual polygon, so you walk around in the air. Just thought that it would be helpful if I told you... |

Trolling? Well I guess I'm kinda guilty of that. But hey, that is what you end up doing when your lesson in algebra, or science gets to hard or confusing. You start wandering in websites, and you start posting stuff, and then everybody starts thinking that you are a n00b when you are actually just a bored teenager who has to sit behind a computer 24/7. Computer homeschooling is torture, and a pain in the neck!
So I'm sorry if I got a bit annoying, and I hope that I did not leave a bad impression. Keep it cool, and don't mind me if I get a bit trolly. Cya. |

MIO0 is a compression system that nintendo used to make the nintendo 64 system be able to read the n64 cartridges (maybe also so that the games would be unhackable ). It is not some type of .exe or program. All it is, is a jumble of confusing code that has been successfully decompressed.
If you want to view mio0 code just get a hex editor and a nintendo 64 rom ending in .z64 . Hope this helps you in your quest to find "mio0". (edited by proffessor_gad on 03-18-06 06:49 PM) (edited by proffessor_gad on 03-18-06 06:50 PM) |

| Well, at least I was close. Fine, I'll go remove the sentence that says that mio0 has not been decompressed fully.
But if it has been decompressed, why aren't there any programs that play the decompressed data? (just interested) (edited by proffessor_gad on 03-18-06 06:52 PM) |

| So I see... What I meant was "Are there any programs that can emulate the decompressed data?" Another question- Is the decompressed data easier to understand/hack than regular compressed data? |
