Sig: "Eh? You're right..."

Sig pressed his head up against the wall, and tapped it. He wondered if he could break through the drywall here... It was unlikely, but possible. He pounded the wall a few times to check for any structural malpraies, and began hitting it harder where he felt it hollowing out.

---------------

Grey: "That shouldn't be too hard... Check this out:"

He placed his hands together, and concentrated his focus... Metal, metal, metal. It was all around him, but he could probably make at least the crates with iron, nickel, or cobalt in them rumble to narrow down the searching.

"PK Magnet!!!"

All around him, the crates began to rumble and crackle, as the metal objects inside them began to shift towards Grey's location. Grey himself emitted a series of psionic waves that expelled outward, and drew back in every second or so. The more metal that was inside of the crates, the louder the rumbling. Grey sat still and tried to ignore the smaller of the objects, which began to orbit around his event horizon very slowly.

Particle Man, Particle Man.
Doing the things a particle can.
What's he like? It's not important. Particle Man.
Is he a dot, or is he a speck?
When he's underwater does he get wet?
Or does the water get him instead?
Nobody knows, Particle Man.

Triangle Man, Triangle Man.
Triangle Man hates Particle Man.
There's a fight, Triangle wins.
Triangle Man.

Universe Man, Universe Man.
Size-Of-The-Entire-Universe-Man.
Usually kind to smaller men.
Universe Man.
He's got a watch with a minute hand,
A millenium hand, and an eon hand.
And when they meet it's a happy land,
Powerful man, Universe Man.

Person Man, Person Man.
Hit on the head with a frying pan,
Lives his life in a garbage can,
Person Man.
Is he a mess, or is he depressed?
Does he feel totally worthless?
Who came up with Person Man?
Degraded man, Person Man.

Triangle Man, Triangle Man.
Triangle Man hates Person Man.

So.

I'm wicked excited about this game. It releases tomorrow. I can't find the original Disgaea anywhere at all, but I sure as hell have this one reserved. And when I get it, this time I won't be giving it back.

Maybe when I do play it, I'll end up playing it enough so that I finally break the damage barriers and do those ridiculous 16-digit damage attacks I've heard so much about. I do love NIS games, but my biggest problem with them is that they require so much time and energy to gain anything out of that I often get sidetracked, distracted, or anything else'd just by life in general. As a result, I never get anything out of what I know is a series of games that has so so much potential. I'm hoping tomorrow that this time will be different. Also that I don't fail college because of it.

Nope, I've been told tuesday: I went to EB a few days ago to see when it was releasing, and they gave me a presell for it for what I guess is today. Plus, didn't Hiryuu's CT say 8/29/06 for the longest time?

Either way, today or not today, the store's gonna be calling me if it comes in. Just gotta wait til it opens.

I have the same problem. We'd heard great things about Phantom Brave, and I love tactical RPG's (I played the hell out of the original Final Fantasy Tactics back in the day), so we bought the game. The initial battles were fun...but then it seemed like I was fighting a hell of a lot and getting very little to show for it. I had to use virtually all the money I earned each time to heal my characters, and I felt like I wasn't making any progress at all. This frustrated me, and I put the game down and never picked it back up. I've heard that it gets better, but other activities and games have gotten in the way, so I haven't particularly felt like giving it another shot.

Well, my issue with PB was that units didn't stay on the battlefield. I don't think it's all that good that a unit that you've spent the entire game raising and nurturing still only has a few turns with which to complete a battle, it makes for some very confusing long runs, and you need to worry about having enough units of a comparable degree of strength to survive. Considering a difference in level between characters affects every aspect of survival against them, I'd rather go the Disgaea route and have three or four characters that are so strong that it's not even funny to consider.

EDIT: I've also heard that through transmigration, characters can hit somewhere around... I dunno, level 280000 on the 9999 scale. It just shows a hidden level alongside base level.

From across the nightmare came a cackling, audible only to the residents of a very small, dark room in the depthy shadows. They were quite depthful, those shadows. Very in depth, you see. Depthsome.

A pair of spectacles shined in front of the eyes of a shadowy figure, his hands folded across his mouth contemplatively as he leaned over a desk that'd be quite ominous with some better lighting in the room. He watched Kirbynite and Teddylot's exchange on a small television, clearly observing and invading privacy in a very unmodest form. I bet he got free cable from it, too. He held in the dull glow of the television a sheet of paper, folded in envelope form but outstretched to view in the dim light of the dark cubicle. It contained a small, seemingly insignificant message...

"Who is Dan Bakitus?"

Who, indeed...

???: "Who is this Dan Bakitus fellow, they ask... Who. Perhaps the question is not so much "who" as it is "why"... A very interesting, and far more complex question. Oh, how little they know thus far."

He got up from his desk and turned tail to the television, a lock of long, blonde hair shimmering before dissolving into the shadows. The television flickered as he left the room, and shut off as his silhouette appeared in an open doorway, and disappeared with a slam.

Grey: "Not on time, but not as late as Grey, of course..."

He paused in reflection as he entered plainly through the doorway to the conference room. With all these flashy entrances, the team would need some mundanity to level off their flash. Grey was dressed simply enough: His usual attire, vest and pants. His boots clacked against the floor paneling as he, amidst complete silence (voluntary or no: He had used his psychic abilities to trigger a sense of selective hearing in everyone's brain), stepped slowly, his footfalls echoing throughout the hall. His eyes were closed: His second sight guided him easily towards the row of chairs, where he sat down calmly.

Continuing his auditory manipulation, he got straight down to business and broke the silence. Literally. The sudden restoration of everyone's hearing took the form of an onrushing train of sound, which passed quickly and left Grey able to use the trademark RPG character ability to be heard over a commotion.

"So, what's this all about?"

Grey: "Jeez... Greatest country in the world is being attacked, and you're all going out to play in the snow. Fine, fine..."

Grey had plans of his own. He hadn't explored Kirbynite's house entirely just yet, so he had no idea where Gooey's lab was... But that didn't hinder him.

"Let's see... Gooey's made of Dark Matter, so he should show up as a huge black spot on my Second Sight..."

Grey closed his eyes and felt the world around him. The world around him shrunk away timidly, and revealed to him the cupboard underneath the stairs.

It was about three feet away from him.

"Oh. Huh, maybe that wasn't necessary."

He rapped on the door, opened it a crack, and poked his head inside. He immediately withdrew it, and checked the foundations of the stairwell that lay above his head. He blinked a few times, and poked his head back inside.

What lay before him was a huge room, filled with experiments, floating lights, various screens and images from seemingly nowhere, and in the center of it all, a ginormous reactor that stretched from the floor all the way to the ceiling, a distance of nigh-interminable height, giving power to everything in the lab.

"Uh, wow. Hey, Gooey...? You in here?"

Sig: "I ain't punchin' nothin! Ya hear that?"

There was a clinking noise that echoed through the walls as soon as Sig stopped tapping. He couldn't break a wall like that down very easily, so the obvious solution had to be to try and search around it.

"It is some kinda' chain-like thing. C'mon, we gotta check 'dis out!"

---------------

Grey: "What's to worry about? The only suspicious character around here just left the room after flirting her butt off at you to an obvious no avail."

As he spoke, the smaller metal objects floating around him slowly lowered to the floor and clattered down with a soft clinking noise.

"Besides, it doesn't seem to be in here... All of these crates are full of nonmagnetic metals. It was mostly the nails in them that caused them to shake. If you want, you can continue sneaking. I'm stumped otherwise."

Grey: "I can't see how they can... I've had seawater before. It tastes terrible!"

He imagined someone freezing seawater (which was tough to do anyway: all that salt caused the freezing point of the liquid to fall, which meant it had to be kept colder) and adding in a boatload of sugar to it.

"No amount of sugar or delicious blueberry flavoring could make that stuff good."

I've heard people call it "Vincent May Cry". If that's any indication of what the game itself is like, then I might play it.

Of course, much as I liked 1 and 3, DMC2 blew. So you never know.

Well, I got the call from EB this morning. I'm going to go pick it up at 4:30. Apparently it had to ship from the west coast, so they get games faster than we do.

Bastards. It was either this or Dirge of Cerberus. It'd better be worth the wait.

EDIT: GAME GET

Grey: "GAH! Ah... Arggh.... Ha, Gooey... There you are."

Grey pushed his glasses back up his nose and recovered from his taken aback position, which involved him falling to the floor in a heap and shaking in fear. He searched himself, felt his pants to make sure they weren't wet, and continued.

"Well... Er, You know that weird Q thingie that you've been studying for a while? How there are a few more of them? Japan's under attack and such... Giant robots, as per the norm, and they wanna steal Japan's piece of it. Look, I posted it on all the awesome message boards on the internet, so everyone would know it was super important!"

He pulled out his laptop, and showed Gooey the myriad of bookmarks he had copied and pasted his message to the world in... 8kun.net, Zxnon's, and Grahla, among others. Anyone who was ANYONE on the internet would have to know! And all of those viewers would care... Yes...

"Anyway, I figured as a dutiful citizen of the world, I'd go out there and do my part to keep it safe! Except for the part where I'd need a giant robot. Can't very well control the mind of a piece of steel, now can I? So..."

He grinned innocently at Gooey, polishing off his proposal by standing up straight and folding his hands in front of him, bowing slightly.

"...I would be very honored if I could have the keys to Heavy Lobster!"

Sig: "Tch... Amateur..."

Deciding not to follow Andy's example of trying to hide in the middle of an open hallway, Sig instead ducked inside of a nearby closet with his own cardboard box, throwing it over his head and using his decidedly short stature to his advantage by merely crouching instead of laying down. That way, if he was discovered and had to make a quick escape, things'd be a little easier.

Poor Andy, though... He'd have to watch Andy's back.
