So do you actively control players during the plays? What wite was saying earlier kind of implied to me that you don't. You just call plays and watch them unfold and see where it gets you.

Grey: "I should mention: The souvenier shop isn't necessarily a pavilion. Aren't those supposed to be, you know, big tenty thingies that people put up when they're having large group parties? They're to give everyone a little extra shade. Of course the shade becomes somewhat of a moot point when the sun sets, since it's flashing horizontally into a tent that's standing up quite straight, yes."

He whips out a pocket dictionary from his vest and quickly looks up the word...

"Huh, that's an interesting definition. Kinda reminds me of that period in my life where I was living in a town full of anthropomorphic animals and this one guy kept trying to solicit me to buy his crap. You think this shop is anything like his?"

---------------

Sig plodded angrily away from the Minor League locker room, attempting to make his way to Jolene's office. Today had not been a very good day...

Sig: "Darn it all! My shell's been busted, my fight got 'innerupted, an' I never even got ta know whetha or not I got me a rank! I ain't standin' fer this!"

Sig: "Ah, dat's a shame, dere. I always figured 'dat if'n we were all fightin' without 'da restrictions 'dat Grubba puts on us, 'dere wouldn't be no way ta' figure out who's 'da best fighta', 'cause we'd all be kickin' each other's butts!"

He clapped his friend on what he assumed was the armless rat's shoulder, and crossed his arms across his now bare chest.

"Da shell ain't no problem, seein' as how King's gone an' I ain't got no real reason ta' wear it anymore... Kinda makes a guy feel free, ya know? Sure do miss 'da bastid, though. So whatcha workin' on today, eh?"

---------------

Grey balked at the hot dog, and took out a small card that said "Help!" on it. He flipped it over, glanced at a few words for a second, and nodded, taking a bite of delicious X Meat in his mouth. He swallowed, and approved.

Grey: "Huh... It's a mystery. I guess Nameless NPCs only work in Hive Theory: They are Legion when needed and nowhere when not. Anyway, this sure is a hot dog. The hot dog is a staple of western society...

Truth be told, hot dogs are not actually made out of dog. Well, not in this part of the world, anyway. They're made out of the by-products of the production of other meats from pigs, cows, and in more recent years, turkeys and chickens. I prefer mine cooked. They're.... not the best food for you, and people say they have some really gross organs in them that most people wouldn't eat, but I honestly don't have a problem with it. I figure, if you're eating a pig's legs and butt, why not eat the rest of it, too? Hot dogs are a great way to take care of the excess meats in animals that we use for food without worrying about wasting them. They're the cleanup food of the meat packing industry!"

And with that, he took another delicious bite.

Let's see....

Within arms reach of me at the moment, I can do several things:

I can have about six or seven cords from various electronic devices ready with which to strangle him or tie him up when I've brought him down if I have to bring him down. The first thing in particular I see is my Nintendo DS charger, which I could, if I have the element of surprise, get him around the neck with. As it's my house, I have a knack for being able to walk around in it without sound and missing all of the important creaky floorboards.

I have two glasses in front of me, I could shatter and break them and use the glass as a sharp implement.

I have a cellular phone directly in front of me, which I could use to call the police.

Working off of the element of surprise rule, I have a trombone hanging above my head that I could either use to play a very loud note to scare/disrupt him, or just slam him over the head with about 20 pounds of solid brass.

It would take me 15ish seconds to get to the kitchen and find something from our extensive amount of knives, and I'll assume he's entering via the back door, since entering via the front door will, no matter what, make a very loud noise guaranteed to wake everyone in the house up (we have an oversized door there: it's a struggle and a half to get it open).

I can throw pretty much anything in my room.

There's a hammer in my box of video games that I could get in about five seconds. The same applies to a screwdriver.

If I so desired, I could use that screwdriver to unscrew one of my ceiling fan's blades and use that as a blunt object that's more built for swinging than a trombone case.

I own a pair of handcuffs that have a safety catch to them, but it's hard to find at first glance and in the dark, so that would at least assist in apprehending him until I can use my various cords to finish tying him up.

If I can get downstairs and past him at all (or if he's doing the stupid thing and entering through the front door), there's a load of tools and equipment in the utility room of my house, many of which can be deadly if used improperly.

If he's there to steal stuff, chances are he's going for something valuable: I could use my iPod as bait.

There's a solid glass paperweight on my desk that I can use as a very effective bludgeoning tool/punch weight. It can also be thrown for a good headshot.

If it's dark, I have a modified nerf N-Strike Maverick that I can use to hold him up if I get the drop on him.

That's about all I can think of right off the bat...

Sig: "That's great an' all, but ya can't really do nothin' if'n ya don't got no evidence of where da sound's comin' from. Lessee if we can close in on da groanin', then I'll believe ya might be onta somethin' 'ere."

A quick trip upstairs later, and Sig found himself pressing his ear against the walls he walked adjacent to, trying to listen for anything suspicious.

"Ferst things ferst, we gotta see if dere's even a sound!"

Grey: "So, wait..."

He looked from Kirby's PET to Harle, and then back to Kirby's PET, which had its email inbox open and full of mail from the until-previously mysterious "X".

"....That means you're X, right?"

He looked to Harle, hoping she wasn't as crafty as Jolene was. Eh, worth a shot.

"So how come you're flirting with him?"

Eventually Megaman games will evolve into nothing more than bullet hell shooters.

Except you won't have a 5 pixel by 5 pixel hitbox.

And when you're finished playing, you'll laugh at Ikaruga and the Touhou games.

Also, if you'll watch carefully in the middle of some fights, you can see that the video footage is actually sped up to about 150%. It's a minor detail, but it makes the video look so much cooler as a result.

Hell yes! I didn't think the first game was popular enough to warrant a sequel, but that's wicked sweet!

And CPU, you'd probably beat the crap out of me in it: I never beat that mission where you take the artillery down the river in the Western Campaign to attack those three gun posts before the bombing run hits. So there we go.

There was a loud crash at Kirbynite's door, and a glance in its general direction would reveal that it's been thrown open with violent force by a now-chibified Grey, a look of panic and desperation on his simply-constructed and adorable face. He began dashing left and right, his stubbly arms and legs flailing about in excitement (as was the style for those in his form). He broke pose for a moment and paused to stare at his arms and legs, which he wiggled curiously. There was a soft rubbery noise like something jiggly being poked by a finger, and Grey considered his state for several seconds before returning to his mantra of fear.

Grey: "Kirb! Kiiiirb!!! It's all over the news! Some guy called Dr. Gauss is attacking Tokyo-3 and stealing one of those things that they gave to Gooey! It's an emergency!"

Throughout his rantings, Grey was seen rushing left and right and to and fro, often appearing in random places and striking random poses to go along with his raving, only to return to the center of the room, panting in exhaustion.

"I.... don't know why... I just did that.... But this is important news! I've blogged it already, and I've got a script running on my laptop that's posting it to all the major world message boards! Look!"

He pulled out of a pocket of hammerspace an ultra-thin laptop PC, which featured in the center of its screen an automatic posting script running in a bastardized command-line interface. A list of places he was unwittingly spamming with emergency messages popped up on occasion, updating itself as the script ran.

"Soon the whole world will know! Well... The whole world that cares about any of the cool places on the internet."

Neo: I'd totally be in with the giant robots. Also, little floaty transporty devices and jetpacks would be nice. Basically, any kind of personal flight device.

ANH: I'm not a fan: The farthest I'll go is Five Iron Frenzy, and even then they lay it on a little too thick for my taste, and I only stomach them because outside that, they're a great ska band. I can't really stand having strong fundamentalist overtones in my music, I feel that it takes away somewhat from the experience. Oddly enough, I'm into political statements as a complete opposite to that...

Dani: Oh, what a rain that would be...
We'd stand with our mouths open, high on the rooftops,
And Dentists would all run and flee.

The chocolate would fall down, the maple would drip down,
The clouds would grow brown with the food,
The peanuts and corn nuts and walnuts and sweet nuts
Would spout from the skies just like crude.

What really blows about that statement is that I entered this thread after reading the entire thing just to say that searching everyone would be more efficient and would let far less crime sift through the searches than racial profiling, and ||bass beat me to it, but he cast it in a completely different light than I did.

I fail to see what would be so astronomically expensive about finding a method to standardize searches for everyone's equipment and person: We have metal detectors, we have baggage checking for everyone, we have carryon scanning. We checked everyone just after the 9/11 attacks, why not just keep up the good work? If anything, the government could cover the costs in the name of airline security; if they're so concerned about it, why not do something about it?
