Sig whispered into Jolene's ear...

Sig: "Eh, right now? What's the catch?"

Colin, Fanta? Eesh. Around here, that stuff tastes way too salty for my taste. Good luck finding something worth drinking.

I picked 5-6 because I have this thing where I"ll go a day and not drink any soda, then the next day I'll drink a case plus a pair of 20 ounce bottles.

Bye, sperm count.

Sig grins, and his shades move with his eyes again in that strange, cartoonish way as he adopts a determined look.

Sig: "Count me in. But these fights betta' jump me up da ranks. I'm tireda' earnin' chump change."

He cracked his knuckles, and waited for the four Dry Bones to confront him.

Geogree -- I suppose as a Christian a war in which an army of Christians try to convert Muslims to their religion by slaughtering them in the name of God is a war you can support, too? Do NOT let your religion be the basis for supporting a fucking war. You're making over a billion peaceful Christians look bad by doing so.

Damn it all, with all of the US-led unrest in the middle east, this is the LAST thing the world needs on its hands right now.

Sig: "I ain't afraid of no ghosts!"

Sig leapt into the air at them, and landed on the first Dry Bones' head, taking the obvious approach and stomping on it to send it crumbling. He repeated the process without even touching the ground once, and bounced from undead turtle to undead turtle until all four of them lay in piles of bones at his feet. He snorted his victory, and was just about to go brag to Jolene about how awesome he was when they suddenly shook from the ground and reassembled themselves, much to Sig's dismay. Fine then, he thought. If that was the way they wanted to play...

Bones: "Ha, you can't bring us down! We're already six feet under!"

Naturally, this made Sig somewhat angry. He didn't like being mocked.

Before they could even huck a bone at him, Sig charged at the group of Dry Bones a second time and went into a sliding tackle aimed at the first of the four. Its head was immediately knocked off its shoulders as Sig slid onto the back of his shell and performed a clean sweeping kick with his outstretched foot that caught the Bones in its chin. There was a ghastly crunching noise as the bones clattered to the ground around the still-sliding Sig, who kicked back onto his feet and leapt into the air, rising to where the Dry Bones' head had flown.

He performed a quick bicycle kick at the skull, which shot down at a second Bones, smacking it in on the crown and causing it to crumble downward, out of commission. The skullball bounced upward and back to where Sig was falling, as he rode it downward and landed on top of a third Bones, which shattered to pieces under the combined weight of the skull, Sig himself, and the force of both's fall. Sig smiled devilishly as he picked the skull back up, spun around a few times, and hurled it at the final Dry Bones' midsection, which broke apart on impact. The four of them were like crash test dummies, breaking apart in a single hit.

Sig did another acrobatic leap and landed gracefully outside the pile of bones, ensuring his victory with style and flair.

Sig: "Six feet, eh? I'da kicked ya down ta twelve..."

Sig: "How many of these do you want me to do...? I ain't fixin' ta fight my way ta numbah one in one day, ya know..."

He crossed his arms impatiently as the bones were scooped up and swept away by a town-sanctioned janitorial crew. Spikeys didn't sound terribly tough, but not being able to deal with them directly without finesse was a bit of a hinderance.

"Bah, whateva'. Keep 'em comin'."

Wait.

Wait.

So.

So setz, right. He makes a thread asking if Shyguy is awesome or not.

Right. Well. So. Everyone. Everyone says he's not. And... And apparently he's wrong for taking offense at people laughing at the possibility that he might be cool. So now, right. He's wrong for being mad. So now that he's wrong for being mad, we get to make fun of him more.

Right.

So setz makes this poll that is completely one-sided and clearly meant to show that Shyguy is not well liked among the board populace. So that. That's a little bit of a bias here. Just a little bit of a bias. I mean I can understand that. Not many people like Shyguy. I can understand people saying "Boy I sure wish he was banned" and stuff. But why say it on the board? What good will it do? Board's an oligarchy, remember?

I'ma guess this was made from IRC. But I mean, don't we have an explicit rule that IRC isn't the board? Coulda sworn what happens there isn't supposed to have repercussions here. That's why emunet is down permanentlyish. No drama on IRC anymore. Whee. But here I see something spawned from IRC that directly attacks a member of the board. Why Shyguy? He seems all right when people aren't completely disregarding everything he says.

Meh, I'm in no place to complain about this. I'm sure I've said my fair share about him when I've been annoyed by him.

But like, everyone in this thread that contributed to the obvious dislike of Shy must be right. He must not deserve to be here.

And Shyguy's wrong for being mad.

Fuck you all.

Surprisingly enough, I've played them both.

Budokai 3 is the better of the two in terms of fighting: There's an actual skill-based fighting system to it, and the moves for each character aren't exactly identical. A downfall of Tenkaichi is that every character literally uses the exact same controller motions for all of their moves. They all have the same combos and the same basic control scheme; the variety lies in the stats of the character, which can be configured outside battle via the game's fusion system.

For raw amounts of characters and unlockables, Tenkaichi is definitely a good choice. It runs the entire DBZ story (not well, but it does it), several of the movies, and even a little of Dragon Ball GT. Every single character you fight in it, in all of their forms, is unlockable, and it'll definitely take you some time to bring it to fruition. Over 70 characters to choose from, even if they have the same base controls, is still pretty darn impressive.

Budokai 3, on the other hand, is a really good fighter as far as controls and action itself goes. The same strategies won't work on individual opponents, as characters do have differing move schemes and the fighting is more like an actual fighter than a three-dimensional action one-on-one. There aren't quite as many characters, but there's still a wealth of them to unlock and it's still a good game nonetheless.

The problem here is that it's Dragon Ball Z. People won't turn to it immediately for a good fighter, since so many superior ones exist. But if you've got 20 bucks to burn, give either of them a try, based on what you think your tastes would be more satisfied by. Just be forewarned; you won't be seeing anything new or innovative in either game. If I were you, I'd spend my 20 bucks on a copy of Guilty Gear XX or hunt down Street Fighter Alpha Chronicles or (if you're into the whole Xbox thing) King of Fighters 2002/2003.

Caveat Emptor.

Jeff, I'm manlier than wite. Or at least hairier.

DS: DS! Oh man I love my DS. I love to play all of the games I have, actually: There's no one game (well, except for New Super Mario Brothers) that I play above the rest.

What I've got:

Advance Wars DS
Meteos
Puyo Pop Fever
New Super Mario Brothers
Nintendogs
Brain Age
Sonic Rush
Golden Sun 2
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga

I included GBA games in there because I'm bored, needed this to be a real list, and wanted to have it be longer because I was insecure about the size of my.... er, list.

Sig: "Erh, heh... Go me? Yeah, I'm awesome! Hah!"

He puffed out his golden chest, and crossed his arms across the front of his shell, laughing into the sky. It was a bellowing guffaw, a shouted challenge to any and all takers. Sig felt on top of the world just then, as though no man, woman, or koopa could defeat him. All he had to do was keep the magic going, and the rest would come straight into his hands...

He turned to Jolene before she puttered back into the Glitz Pit locker rooms, and caught her as she began to stride.

"'Ey, wait a sec. What rank's this put me at now, eh?"

Phil-1: That's if I can get off of work for more than one day. They're not very nice about that sort of thing. It'd be way easier if it were still in Woonsocket.

Phil-2: The Ballad of Barry Allen and The Music of You are both really good songs. I reccommend them more than Stress, actually. Consider them sent.

Darkdata: The art of Sim Battle is very simple, really. One enters the forum with a character in mind. This character acts, as in an RPG or fighting game, as the user's avatar within that world. Typically they have a physical description, a set of abilities (or lack thereof), and a personality and motivation for who they are or why they're there. It's a lot easier than it seems. Once you have an idea in mind, you list all of the ways you can describe him or her in the "Profiles" thread, which acts, appropriately, as the character's profile within the arena.

To battle someone, you post a thread with a "challenge", or join a pre-existing one that allows you to join in. Typically this is a free-for-all fight, or an open challenge that has yet to have a foe in it. This allows you to obtain a proper opponent for your first battle.

The fight usually opens with each character describing the way they enter the area in which the fight will take place. It can be as simple as walking into an arena or as complex as crash-landing in a vast jungle on an alien planet. It all depends on the circumstances of the battle, really. An excellent example of the Acmlm's Board style of sim-battle can be found here, penned by none other than the grandmaster himself, Kirbynite. It really is all about just describing what your character does. It's a little bit strange at first, because you're expecting some kind of rhyme or reason to the battle itself, but soon you learn that it's not about winning or losing; it's about writing and performing. A bit like GURPS.
