Kalar closed his eyes and shook his head. Kalar: "Now now, that's all well and good, but you're missing the point. I'm gonna kill Schwa if you don't wanna play my little game. You seem to have ignored that fact and taken it as opinion. I've killed people before, it's pretty easy. Scythe goes in, guts come out. And you're forgetting about both me and Garro taking him on. Schwa's strong, I got that one, but you can't just throw caution into the wind in regards to the two of us. Besides, we're not even here to kill him. That's just my perogative." Garro is hit directly by the beam and thrown upwards but its explosive force, tumbling over in the air and landing roughly on the wooden overpass that the four were standing on. He pushes himself upward, and holds his notebook in his hands... The burn temperature, the cast time... The energy signature that lingered and dissipated... It all opened up to somewhere else. The downside was that in order to find out, Garro needed to take more of a beating. He got to his feet, and straightened his slumping posture. He cast a glance at Kalar, which turned into a quick shake of his head. No... not now... Kalar just shrugged it off and continued to brag. Kalar: "Look at that! He took the shot. Can Schwa really defeat both of us, if he can't even harm my buddy over there?" Garro just sighed, gritted his teeth, and promptly leapt off the platform, diving down into the trees below. The angel wings slowed his fall, until eventually he was hovering in the air, his guns out and his eyes scanning for where Schwa had fallen. Kalar stepped underneath the shade of an overhanging branch, and began to chuckle slightly. |

Grey pulls out a Nintendo DS and begins mashing buttons on it, as the soundtrack to River City Ransom plays out of the tinny-sounding synthesizer of the miniscule piece of gaming hardware. He's clearly idling, but then he notices something odd. "Hey, this looks kinda familiar..." Using a special knob he installed on the side of the DS' top screen, he turns the color setting on the monitor down to nothing. It, much like the rest of the world, is entirely in monochrome. A wave of realization washes over him as, after the fact entirely, he comes to an understanding. ".....Oh. I see what you did there." (restricted) | (restricted) |

He slams his DS into sleep mode, grabs an OT-ing Jack and Fem, clocks Melvin and Smithy in the head, and high-tails it back to the pipe, emerging on the other side alongside Kirb. "I'm not liking these sewers very much. They get very unsanitary if they're not properly maintained, and if that's the case I have to ask how you can stand this kind of travel!" He wipes a bit of slime off of his vest, an obvious remnant from the pipe's last cleaning. As he waits for Jack and Fem to come to their senses, Grey spurts out a quick monologue. "Let's see what I can remember about these pipes... I recall hearing once that the pipes of the Mushroom Kingdom, the Beanbean Kingdom, Rose Town, Fungeria, Moleville, and all points west were originally supposed to be a part of a huge mass-transit system to unite all of the territories on this continent. Needless to say, it was an obvious failure, given how we have to travel from the surface to the pipes and vice versa. What I heard was that the Princess and her counselors were attempting to construct the system based on the efficency of underground travel, the structural integrity of the common sewer pipe, and the odd cleanliness that the unique mushroom cap heads of the Toadsters were able to exhibit." He tapped on the walls of the cement sewer. There was almost no knocking noise, indicating that they were very solid. "Keeping in mind, of course, that the foundations for the sewers themselves were based mostly on the sanitation systems that the Mushroom Kingdom had already employed. These are separate from those systems, but as you can see, the rushing water nearby indicates that such transit points are actually useful in aiding the sanitation system by providing a filtering point for the rather yucky water. It's still not the best idea in the world to fall in, though. The attack on the Mushroom Kingdom by Bowser and his Koopa Troop back in the old days left this plan devastated by the financial difficulties associated with the various ransoms of Princess Peach, the reconstruction efforts of the surface, and the legal fees associated with such efforts. Even when Mario came along and started to stop Bowser, he was forced to use the half-completed transit systems to get around, when on-the-surface travel was too dangerous and there was no way to get around via an aerial or naval means. The legal fees associated with the various apprehensions of Bowser, and the fees that were associated with the reconstruction of the prisons he subsequently broke out of were another detriment to the transit system, and it was eventually abandoned in its half-completed state, leaving nothing more than localized tunnels around certain sections of the kingdoms. One exception to this is the tunnel system between Rose Town and Moleville, which was completed independently of the Princess' jurisdiction based on the necessity the Moles held for the tunnelling system. Known as the Pipe Maze, I'm pretty sure only the Moles know how to navigate it nowadays... But aside from that one area, you'll never find a truly complex pipe system that connects two major regions in the Mushroom Kingdom and all outlying areas. It's fascinating, really." He notices the sleep bubbles filling and deflating around him, and decides to stop his yammering, before he got really boring and described the various lairs of Belome... So far he'd managed to hide all the time thus far, but somehow he got the feeling he was being dragged into something he just couldn't handle. "You don't mean the kind with the throwing fists or the kicks to the groin or the rubber mats or the hairy men in spandex, do you?"
