The key here is in idiot-proofing the computer systems at a school. I agree with Tarale that computer maintanence should be more important than just buying pretty gadgets, and I agree with Kas that uniformity is key.

The problem is with the people who DO do things like install lololol and other programs that interfere with the uniformity of the computers. There should be no tweaking allowed at all, because you can only tweak so much before you start to break things down. Letting students independently install programs on standardized computers will only lead to the eventual state of someone doing the idiotic thing like installing fucking GATOR for crying out loud. And then, if your file system protection is anything like what my High School's was, the entire system is screwed.

Control, when it comes to something as delicate as technology, needs to be completely taken away from anyone who isn't responsible/informed/educated enough to use it correctly.

OOC: This is a very special battle... With very special rules for anyone brave enough to join.

The rules are as follows: The person who is "It" is the attacker. Whomever is it must make an attacking post towards any vulnerable player. It's kind of like a game. In order to make yourself invulnerable to attack, you must make an evasive post. It can be any kind of post describing you moving yourself into a position that either renders you unattackable, or prepares you for a deft dodge from the attacking battler.

The attacker must then attack one, and only one, person who is vulnerable. If they haven't made an evasive post by then, then they're it (in other words, anyone who doesn't post runs the risk of being vulnerable)! There's no dodging that attack, and even a block means they've been touched by the other player, so they're the new attacker.

If there are no players vulnerable, then one of two things will happen: Either another dodge round happens, with the same person being it, or someone volunteers to be it and the round continues with everyone else making an evasive post.

When does someone win? Why, when everyone gets tired of playing, of course. Last man or woman standing, and all. Have at you!

Grey sniffed loudly as the cool air blew around him. He stood on the roof of the Acmlm's board building, looking out on the city below. This was gonna be fun. He exhaled a blast of hot breath as the sun beat down on the concrete rooftops that soon would be mere stepping stones to the contestants of the epic struggle that was about to erupt.

Grey's eyes glowed a psychic green, and he levitated a few inches off the concrete, floating into the skies and forward a few feet, looking back onto the crowd before him. The best of the rest, as usual. He spread his arms cinematically, and began an address.

Grey: "So, ladies and gents, you know the rules. Who's in? As you all know, I'm it, and I DO need to know who I'm going to be hitting, here..."

Grey rubbed the back of his head nervously...

Grey: "Ah, as soon as we have more to play with than just a vacationing netnavi and a cat... I'm expecting some guests, myself, but they won't be around for a while still. Just sit back and wait, we should have plenty of players. In the meantime, I suggest you cast any spells you might have to increase your speed, or whathaveyou. I'm pretty quick."

'Not as quick as some people, though...' He thought to himself. Where had that guy gone off to, anyway? It had been almost seven months since he had gone missing.

"Hello, anyone out there? We can't play tag with just three people!"

Kalar: "Ha! Shadowfang!!!"

Kalar exploded into a wave of shadowy bolts as he bore down on Garro, who threw his coat around him and deflected the bolts away with a wave of holy power. Garro backpedaled a few feet, and was almost instantly cornered by Kalar, who slid out of the darkness of the unlit Sim Battle Arena B and grabbed Garro with a steel fist. Kalar then proceeded to throw him roughly down onto the cement flooring. He pounced on Garro, and pressed his scythe's blade against Garro's throat...

"Heh, too slow, man... You need to learn to fight better. He's coming back soon, that's what you said, and it's gonna be big. We'll show him just how much stronger we've gotten."

Garro: "G-get off me..."

Garro grabbed Kalar and disappeared in a puff of white feathers, switching their positions and pointing a pistol at Kalar's forehead. The two of them grappled on the ground for a few seconds, and suddenly, Kalar shouted out.

Kalar: "Wait, wait! Wait!"

Garro pulled his pistol away, and looked perplexedly at Kalar, who had a rather strange look on his face, almost as if he were trying to throw up, but couldn't get anything out of it. Garro got off of him, and stood up.

Garro: "What's wrong?"

Kalar: "I just tried to go all shadowy now, and it didn't work."

Garro pondered for a moment as Kalar got up, and noticed that the near-transparent blade on his scythe had disappeared entirely, with the Multiweapon becoming nothing more than just another metal rod in Kalar's hands. Kalar's right side suddenly toppled to the ground underneath the weight of his metal limbs.

"Gah! That's it!"

He dragged himself forward and towards the arena exit as Garro unsuccessfully tried to cast a spell to lighten his load a bit. They had lost their powers?

Garro: "It must be another one of Grey's experiments..."

Kalar: "No! It's that goddamn game of tag he's playing! I remember him saying something to me a few hours prior to assembling everyone on the roof."

Garro: "Tag? Why tag?"

Kalar: "Something about a short film he once saw... said it inspired him. He wanted to try some kind of "Ordinary people doing extraordinary things" bullshit... Now look at us!"

Kalar continued to drag his overencumbered body out of the arena, and Garro rushed forward to try to help him, only to realize that the sheer weight of all the kevlar he was wearing was starting to get him down. Even his pistols seemed heavier all of a sudden...

Garro: "Well, come on... we've got to get to him..."

The two of them carefully and slowly made their way out to the streets, where Grey was no doubt scheming up a storm for his little "Tag" experiment.

----------------

Meanwhile, in a small cafe just south of the Acmlm's Board building, a hulking, muscular man in a fine leather suit that somehow had accessories to cover his entire body sipped a disproportionately small (to the size of his hands, that is) cup of espresso, sitting on a chair that barely held him before a table that looked rather intimidated by him, waiting for his blind date to show up. That is to say, his date, who was blind. He knew, of course, that she would be able to make his way to him, especially while he carried one of the green shards that was concealed inside of his suit. She was, after all, a mistress of the soul. Suddenly, he noticed that he had stopped sensing the shard's power from within his clothing.

Evan: "Hm? What's this..."

He placed his espresso on the table before him, and withdrew the shard from his pocket. Yes, one shard. Most definitely there. It seemed as though he had lost his ability to sense them temporarily. Probably the work of some outstanding supervillain who wanted nothing more than to conquer the city. It'd only be a matter of time before someone stopped him or destroyed the device that he was using to do it, so Evan simply placed the shard back in his pocket, and continued waiting.

Until, that is, he realized that his date's ability to actually find him was based entirely upon a power that most people didn't have. This troubled him, and so he got up, paid his bill, and calmly walked out into the city streets to search for her.

Hi.

I hope the guy at my arcade organizes a DDR tournament sometime soon, I'd love to compete and do some real fun stuff. Not a freestyle tourney, mind you, a score tournament. I'm no good at freestyling at all.

And I think Telephone Operator is fun. It's a toughie for a seven. Not that difficult overall, but I've seen people who can do catas fail it. Maybe it's something else...

EDIT: Oh, right, I almost AA'd Heaven is a '57 last week. I think the final total was like, 52 greats. Good or bad?

Okay, um... I see absolutely nothing wrong with this picture whatsoever. I'd say, considering Clockworkz is still a budding artist, that this is leaps and bounds far and away in style and shading from a few of his previous attempts. So yeah. Good work, Clockz.

Haha, yeah, it's amazing what you can put people up for when you get a president drunk enough to take his pants off.

Which reminds me, I should probably call that gal and see how she's doing... What was her name... Maria? Monique? Ah, I'll remember it sometime.

Oh god.... This is going to absolutely suck.

The truth is, while I may seem most of the time to have perfectly good spelling and stuff, I make a shitton of mistakes. I am normally quite quick with my fingers, and as a result, I just sort of spam the keyboard with as many motions as I can. I even autoreach for the backspace key wthout (#1) even realizing what I'm doing.

So... Tempted... Right... Now...

No! I won't do it! I will NOT give in.

Ugh, I'm afraid to say stuff like The and And and They and basically antgything inv(3#2)olving(#3) the letters T and H. That's what I screw up on the most.

Gr... Damn, KATFsish, it looks like I'm posting drunk! I will rue the day you made this thread and completely messed up my perfectionist, obsessive-about0-his*(#4 & 5)-Grammar attitude.

It's getting worse, now... Because I'm losing it. I'm gt(#6)etting more nervu(#7)ous about my typing.

Ack! I give! I'm going back to a thread where I can actually use my beloved Backspace key.

Nintendo and Sony. Microsoft needs to die. Those two can do it.

Plus, the tale of the short, fat kid that's always being made fun of by the bigger kids (even though he's a really good person on the inside) getting together with the tall, thin, rich girl is always heartwarming.

I really liked the two big Dreamcast ones, Skies of Arcadia and the Grandia series. The pirate theme of SoA was what really drew me in, and the special move progression was enjoyable and different for each character. Grandia (and 2) had a good looking battle system, particularly the way you could move around in your attack menu. I've found this genuinly hard to finish too. I'm not big on real time rpgs, there's probably more out there that I would like too if I knew about them.

The opening scene in Skies of Arcadia is by far one of the greatest sequence of events I have seen in an RPG. And the game just goes uphill from there.

Ha, looks like everyone's got their bases covered... For a bit of a twist though, why not give the Megaman Battle Network games a try, too? They're a dime a dozen nowadays, but that doesn't make them bad. A simple, cute story, a great battle system, and a lot of stuff to do on the side of the normal game that serves only to make the insane challenges the game can offer that much more possible.

I definitely have to go with Wurl and Hiryuu here... the NIS games (Phantom Brave too, if it hasn't been mentioned) are great plays, really interesting tactical systems. And you can work your way towards doing an ungodly amount of damage, which is fun to watch for novelty value. I never should have sold my copy of Disgaea...

The Breath of Fire games, particularly the third one (in my opinion) are good, solid RPGs that shouldn't be passed up. They're just... fun. That's all that you can get out of them.

Suikoden is a series you should not overlook, either. They're incredible games. The premise revolves around saving nothing more than the country you live in (though the events in it may affect the world even if they just centralize around that area) with the help of the 108 Stars of Destiny (that's 108 party members, supporting characters, and servicemen that you gather throughout the course of the game). Every character has a backstory, there's a boatload of extra lore to discover that stretches across all four (five? Suikoden Tactics has been released...) games and ties together very nicely, and there aren't any confusing systems or elements that you have to get used to, it's all very straightforward.

And then there's pretty much any of Working Design's revival projects... Lunar has already been recommended, but also worth a look is Albert Odyssey for the Sega Saturn(far and away one of the funniest translations ever done), Vanguard Bandits (not for non-turn based strategy fans), and DEFINITELY the Arc the Lad games.

And one last suggestion...

Xenogears. I can't explain how awesome it is. Of everything I've mentioned before this, Xenogears trumps them all. It's got a hefty price tag on it (usually around 30 bucks from a smart vendor: It's RARE.), but like Cheveyo's claim with Lunar, it's worth every penny. Square completely outdid themselves with this game. It's a work of art, for sure.

Grr.... Only four levels until I can obnoxiously shout "IMPERIO!" in PVP and actually have it mean something.

That asshole Rogue's gonna pay dearly.

On a side note, priests seem only to have a lot of actual fighting power at levels that aren't what I'm at right now (just hit 26, should be 27 in another day of playing if I don't do anything else, which I probably will). Also, Devouring Plague.

Uhm.... The low projected price of the Revolution combined with the fact that the Xbox 360 is setting itself up for a possible commercial failure and the iron-hard advent of the PS3 suggests that Nintendo may actually have a foothold in the coming console war. The DS is a fierce competitor with the PSP (personally, I've seen DSes and DS games outselling PSP games and PSPs and accessories by far at Toys R Us around here, if that's any indication of the market), and the Gameboy Advance is STILL an amazingly strong platform that will continue to bring in large amounts of revenue for a long while.
