gonna go on a limb and guess "extend to ground" platforms are over holes.

Go into your printer options on yor computer and crank all of your options up for high detail.
Then open up the printing program, and make sure that the default resolution for the selected printer is (at least) 600 dpi. Then select the 600 dpi options, your printer, the file to print, and away you go. You shouldn't need to adjust offsets, unless you want to get 2 codes on one side of a sheet of paper. Finally, be patient, it takes quite a few number of tries to get it to successfully scan in. If it says read error, just keep persisting, odds are it'll work eventually. |

If you did try hard enough, you could do it, that's the thing.

could always skip that level or that part of it.
I might be able to map out their paths for you, caitsith posted some daa about how the game stores them in the save file, so it would be possible to map it out without actually playing and counting squares. Then again, I do tend to try to do alot of things and not do much. |

I have stil yet to find a successful way to get them to print well with my hp 1200, but most of them do work after a dozen or so scans. I might try that 1200 dpi on photo paper thing though.
But caitsith2, how do you cut the paper if you print up to a down dot codes, or can you get special sheets that have divisions on them? |

It's mushroom 20 with the block train, well two of them actually, and mushroom 23 also has one.
On a side note, I got all the cards to successfully scan now. |

Yeah, I was disappointed with the red switch as well. Oh well.
On a side note, I scanned in all 7 swittches into one of my save files, and now I can't scan in any demo or item cards. whenever I hit "R", it shows the item card selection greyed out, with all the switches beside it, but no selecter. It essentially freezes on that screen, as you can't do anything. |

That buzzy beetle is sweet. On another note, I always thought the black area on buzzy beetles was a nose. Now that I see that turning animation, I realize it's actually a hole for eyes!

Quite simply, I think it's because of the appeal. When someone discovers ROM hacking, and sees the potential of designing their own game, it excites them. If they know nothing about programming, editors are good things, and there is a wide variety for Mario games. Chances are these peole have played mario games in the past and enjoyed them, and want their game to be as good as those games of the past, so what better way to ensure your game is like Mario than to make it modeled after a Mario game?

For the most part it should be possible. All five classic levels can be done with minimum adjusting (rotodiscs for firebars, whch I see you are already doing).
The airship levels would require manipulation of scrolling, but other than that should be easy. mushroom1 should be easy enough, ignoring the bullet bills at the end. mushroom2 would be very easy, just have to omit the pipe area in the middle mushroom3 would not be done very well at all. Without Charging Chuck or vegetables, this level wouldn't be the same. mush4, is a no go- no ghost house items in mario 3. mush5 is quite likely, just need to use the straight forward scroll, but might have to cut out the hidden woom at the end. mush6, is totally possible mush7, is doable, just note blocks and vertical level style. mush8, just change the sideways fire-spitters into pirahna plants and leave out teh roulette power up box. mush9, should be quite similar, just replace bony beetles with dry bones and firebars with rotodiscs. mush10 would require scrolling control mush11, see number 7, minus the vertical level style mush12, is an airship mush13, aside from the springboards and spike tops, it should be reproducable. mush14, not really. No hotheads/lil sparks, and no invisible blocks mush15, no cape, so you could only hope for the water area faithfully. mush16, can't see why not mush17, I think this one would require too much change, you don't have the folding blocks, or bumpty the penguin to work with. mush 18, can't see why not. mush 19, omitting the underground area, it should work out ok mush20, the first part would require some work, but the inside of the tower would be easy. mush21, not really mush22, replacing ropes with vines, I still see this one not working out well. mush23, it's a ghost house, so no. mush24, the first half probably could, just replace the moving platforms with mario 3 versions, but the last half would have to be cut mush25, no, it has too many new features in it (mainly sand) mush26, replacing firebars with rotodiscs again, it could work. mush27, aside from the middle section with magikoopa and th ebowser staues, t should work mush28, I see lots of graphical troubles with this, but should be possible mush29, mush 30 - both airships and require scrolling skills. promo-airship's revenge - see above promo -other - should be possible |

He hasn't gotten around to the others yet, he was delayed on the most recent (20) because of the block trains. He'll face the same thing come level 23.

In the first real level, how do you get back past the part where the blue koopa was?

I'm guessing you have colored platforms that extend to the ground but have no actual ground beneath it.
