The teacher was just reading a picture book... most picture books tend to be filled with lots of things you probably don't want your children to emulate.

Do you all want your little girls to have their self worth totally based on their beauty, and the the fulfilment of their lives dependent on some 'Prince Charming'? Do you want to teach you children that all step-mothers are evil?

What about if the school has a 'family day'? Do the kids with gay parents have to be excluded?

Gee, you all have such fragile retinas.

Either that or I became hideously ugly when I wasn't paying attention.

*shrug*

No, they decided they were alright with gay marriage. They didn't decide they were alright with the teacher teaching that morality.

For an example on the other side of the spectrum, Texas supports the death penalty. Would it be alright if teachers read kids stories in support of that without the parents' consent?

Well, yeah, Little Red Ridinghood, the wolf gets the death penalty.

Sleeping Beauty was a death sentence commuted to eternal slumber with possibility of pardon.

Wouldn't you have more fun and smarter children if you worked on your girlfriend instead?

Pastor rejects lottery winner's initial donation as not generous enough.

Although I partly understand the Pastor's point in saying that the donation was but a token, and also understand that a charity or organization never is *obligated* to take donations, but Im still puzzled and oddly infuriated by his behavior.

...while you talk... like... Captain Kirk... or someone... trying to hold a conversation... while their mouth is... otherwise engaged... *cough*

So, anyways, the original question, was the teacher correct in reading such a story or not? What gives the story more or less, umm, propiety, I suppose, than, say, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White, Amedlia Bedilia, or the Stinky Cheese Man?

Even if you think they aren't hateful, it is how it comes across.

Atleast that's how I felt in the fourth grade...

And initially, I thought that perhaps, you know, your stance was right, and maybe they just *didn't* know what they were doing.

Then I came out in the seventh grade.

Mistake of un-godly proportions.

Aww, I was hoping this would be about the TV show... then I realized who created the thread.

Not to mention this would've been in the wrong forum anyways.

Oh, I wasn't commenting on the real subject, I was commenting on the subject I wanted it to be.

If it was about the TV show, it'd more likely be in the entertainment forum was what I meant, so I should not have had my hopes up

So, I just tried this technique, although I used two pillows because I don't have a box spring.

My goodness, it was definitely a different sensation to go at it hands free, and I can understand how that would be a reader favorite.

I took the long way around when I made the box frame for one of my old layouts.

Basically, it was a nine cell table, which several tables nested within.

[ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
[ 4 ] [ 5 ] [ 6 ]
[ 7 ] [ 8 ] [ 9 ]

The header was cells 1 through 4, the footer cells 6 through 9, and the post text cell 5.

Cells 1, 3, 7, and 9 were of fixed height and width, and merely contained img tags for the corner pieces.

Cells 2 and 8 were of fixed height, and had the horizontal parts of my frame as the *background* of the cell.

Cells 4 and six were of fixed width, and had the vertical parts of my frame os the *background* of the cell.

Cell five was variable in all directions.

I probably have a copy of the old code somewhere...

EDIT: I found the old code, there's a direct copy-paste version of it at http://mysite.verizon.net/phannareth/tommy/movanic.html.

And now here's the code without the movanic deva on the side and without the spacer.gif to keep the vertical height at a definite minimum: http://mysite.verizon.net/phannareth/tommy/frame.html
