*Cough*. You seem to be a newcomer at hacking games. Let me give you some insight. I'll give you an example on hacking Dr. Robotniks sprite. First off. Using programs like tilemolester and yy-chr_e, its simple to hack nes titles. However finding the spirte character robotnik offsets is difficult. The graphics are all screwy looking. They are compressed. Which will not show up in TLP. You must de-compress it, then edit the sprite in TLP which is a hassel. Making sure not to go over the sprite size limit. Re-compress it. And finally use the program called hexworkshop to find the pointer and location of the sprite and paste over the data of the rom while not only being careful and to not damage the rom. Plus hacking Sonic3&Knuckles is one of the most challenging games to hack. Unlike the Mario games out there. But what do I know eh? You think its sooo easy. Why don't you try to hack my game and see how simple it is for you.

I'll give you that, S3&K is probably one of the most difficult Sonic games to hack. But from what you were saying, you're only editing the graphics of a few things, all of which are the same exact process as things being hacked in any other game, utilities being the exception to the rule. Hell, decompress the graphics, and from that point on it's the same exact thing as hacking NES graphics (mind you, this is from what I understand. Hacking NES has never been my forte). Decompressing, editing, compressing, and inserting isn't a hassle, it's just a time consumer. Any claims that it requires an extreme amount of work are unjustified.

And I don't remember if I made a comment on it in your last images topic, but the Mario sprites clash horribly with the Sonic 3 graphics. Either fix the graphics so they have shading and such, or... actually, can't think of anything else. Just do that.

And remember: critiscism is the first step to perfection. Don't react to other people's remarks angrily, as they might have some merit to it. Unless they are complete idiots.

i know this was off subject, but i am just trying to show one of the few mario 64 ips patches that actually works.

If this weren't finals/projects week... and I didn't have to work this afternoon... and I didn't have four projects to finish tonight... and I had a thumb drive on me... I'd download it right now.

I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not like there are enemies along every string of rings. The only complaint I had with it was I hit a string in midair, hit a hill, and somehow flew backwards and off the bottom of the screen. =P

Just out of curiosity Tweak, are you still including Mighty in this hack? I don't recall ever hearing of his special ability, and it's not listed as a WIP. Either way, great job with Megamix so far. As soon as I pop back over to the SSRG, I'll leave a more in-game review there.

The sprites don't need remodeling, Square got that right at the start. Unless Dragon and Leno plan on doing so, but what would seem of more importance would be fixing those god-awful character portraits on the menu screen.

Hint.

I think that he's trying subtle indication that he ruined his only copy of the US Zelda III ROM. Either way, we aren't allowed to give links to ROMs, nor I believe ROM sites.

I can, however, point you to a site that is very helpful for locating ROMs. Using this site is completely legal, and you don't have to sign up or anything. When it comes to ROM searching, I completely recomend this site.

It probably wouldn't be worth it. He's already been warned, and there are still people out there who will undoubtidly be interested in this hack, more so now that it's been bumped. Just pray that he doesn't come across the Sonic Hacking Community anytime soon.

Posted on 06-11-06 06:46 PM, in Need help buying a desktop for college! Link
So now that I'm going to college, I figure it's a good idea to get rid of this VIAO I've had stapled to my desk for the past four years. Intel Celeron CPU 1.70 GHz processor, 40 Gb of memory, and Sis-600 series video and sound cards... It's quite gruesome from an observer's point of view, I'm sure.

Now, Champlain College recently sent me a list of the basics that I'm going to need for the Bachelors in Electronic Game Programming. And everything is exponentially better then what I have at the current moment. What I'm looking to do now, is to buy a PC with all the requirements taken care of while keeping the buying price $1,500 or less. I could probably do with a whole new monitor as well (Samsung SyncMaster 770 TFT ain't bad, but I mine as well go for the whole package). So can anyone please help with finding some desktop PC's that fufill the following minimum requirements? Going higher then the required specs while keeping it reasonably low cost would work just fine as well. =P

* Intel 3.2 or AMD 4000+ (dual core)
* 1 CD/DVD-RW drive
* 200 Gb of disk drive space
* Any moderately good Video card, 256 memory
* A gig of system memory
* 19" flat screen monitor

Spiderman, how much experience with asm hacking do you have? If it's for the enemies and bosses, those can be changed my simply messing around in hex and TLP (unless you plan on making completely new ones). cutscenes/special scenes... err, good luck.

Though KeiiChi, I do like that garden idea. Haven't seen that in a hack yet...

Do you mean an IPS patch? I'm not sure what you mean by code. But you don't even need to ask Orochimaru to lend you the tiles (although that method is undoubtadly simple). Just go into Four Swords with your favorite tile editor, find the sets for winter/summer trees, then move them over to LtTP. Palette adjustments probably needed also. And I don't know whether you would have to decompress anything or not to locate the tree tiles, but...

...

GC tools...

Oh, I guess that Orochimaru ripped those graphics from the Gamecube, si? Well then, asking for an IPS patch might be a helluva lot simpler.

It's to bad Project Chaos is never gonna grace these boards. I'd fear everyone would be stunned into post silence (play on words!) after seeing some of that Sonic hacking.

But yeah, it's good to see some progress, Hapi. And it' nice to see that Tweaker's improved (with Stealth's help) the homing attack to a degree.

First of Four Evangelion Movies due out Summer 2007.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to the October issue of Newtype (Japan) (On sale September 10), four new Evangelion movies are in the works. The four movies will include a prequel, a mid-series movie, a sequel and a "final" movie. The prequel movie is due out early summer 2007.

While the new story will be set during the same time frame as the original TV series, Newtype states that it will be an entirely new project, not be a remake or improvement of any sort. Newtype also mentions that viewers will not need to have already seen previous Evangelion material in order to understand and enjoy the new movies.

Hideaki Anno will write the scenario for the first movie and will be the general director and manager for the entire project. Kazuya Tsurumaki will direct the movies while Yoshiyuki Sadamoto will provide character designs and Ikuto Yamashita will provide mechanical designs. Shinji Higuchi will provide storyboards for the first movie.

Khara, a new studio that shares office space with Gainax, was recently set up and is seeking production staff to work on Anno's new project.

So, whad'ya think? Is this gonna be just another mashing of scenes from the television show together? Will they make one of the movies based on the 'Girlfriend of Steel' game? Will the sequel finally answer all the questions End of Evangelion left?

Discuss.

I'm just interested in the inclusion of a sequel, really. I understood what was happening in the EoE perfectly fine, but as to the end... well, I've drawn my own conclusions, but some officialness supporting what happens would be nice.
