God hopes Ortiz won't do the same. I might lose all of my recently-regained team spirit if that happens.

Hello y'all! I'm Metal Knuckles in case you didn't look to the left of this post. I've been in the ROM hacking community for over a year now, but didn't know about this place until recently. I can tend to get a little annoying, but I've been told that I can make good points on the occasion, and my typing skills have never been littered with u's, ur's, or pwned!!1!. Well, they have on the occasion, but usually to make fun of someone. =/

My main project right now is a Legend of Zelda: LttP hack called The Picori Blade, and my second project is a Sonic 1 hack with Shadow called Shadow Alpha. It used to be the other way around, but I'm actually making some progress with the Zelda hack, whereas with the Sonic hack...

*cough*

So yeah, hope to see all of you... around...

TWEAK! SHDAOWTAILS! PEOPLE I KNOW, THANK GOD!

By all accounts, the game seems to have improved a bit. And here I was thinking that Nomura's "superflu" was the reason it took so long to make.

The gummi ship idea has been fixed, which in all truth I found strange. I really did like the, if a bit bland, starfox-esque minigame idea. Now there's an optional roller coaster-like minigame that goes at thigh speeds. Same basic idea, though.

The idea of character combos sounds really kickass as well. You have Sora and Auron preforming a Bushido attack (omg where's Auron's sake jug!?!), Jack skellington tossing him in the air and doing ah... ghost... thing. Even the Mulan combo looks reasonably cool.

The new summons kick ass on a major level. Screw Bahumut, who wants to summon a laser shooting dragon when you can summon Stitch! XD Also, the inclusion of a YuRiPa summon is pretty cool as well.

Of course, the story... ah, who the hell really knows what's going on? Even if you played Final Mix and Chain of Memories, all you know is there's the organization which is doing... something... And the BHK (blonde hair kid) has been confirmed as playable, and I suspect that it's right at the begining, since in the trailers he's shown going through the same exact awakening/tutorial as Sora in KH1. Also, I'm not sure but I believe that Sora's new outfit is received in Disnet Castle from the Fantasia Magician guy, because screens show Sora in the castle with both his KH1 outfit and KH2 outfit. Not to sure, just something I've been speculating on.

Ansem's returning. Cool beans.

And to finish my rant off, reports have said that this time around, Cloud has his own little side quest. There are screens of him talking (not word bubbling =P) to Leon and Aereith while wearing his Advent Children clothes, and Sephiroth has been confirmed as being in this game as well. Sequel to Advent Children in the form of Kingdom Hearts 2? Who knows.

So yeah, no more speculation after tomorow I guess. And god knows, someone is going to have the game beat and story posted by the end of the day. -.-

Whoops, nevermind. Someone already did so and has a bunch of cutscenes, including the first and last one, posted here http://www.kh2.co.uk/. Oh, and Tifa's in it? So maybe the rumors about Vincent are true as well!

Me? Far along? Nah, further progress is defined by a story, some scripts planning on being rewritten, transfers of sprites between games, new designs, but nothing definate yet. I'm still trying to figure out how to fit it into the Four Swords series. I think I'm gonna go for it being a sequel to Minish Cap.

I'll post something when I make an actual accomplishment. =P

Thank god, it looks good! the last person I heard talking about making a hack of Mario Kart was considering making fan characters (crosses between megaman and sonic, megasonic, being an example) as drivers, and I had to swiftly push them in a better direction.

But I like the title screen, and the sprites look good. Are you planning on replacing all of the original characters?

Also, I'd like to take my 50:50, Regis. =P

Necron was a bitch to beat, plain and simple. Jesus, I had an easier time whooping Sephiroth around the bench then that boss.

Uhoh, there's no voting option for Ansem! Or Smithy! Argh, FF spinoffs, what happened to you! =/

I'll give you that, Ansem wasn't that hard to beat. But my god, he sure did take long. =P

But Smithy from Mario RPG (in my mind, a FF spinoff aince it included that Culex guy with the FF music). Now he was a boss.

"WRAR!!! I am Santa, hear me roar! Oh wait, now we've dropped down into Hell, and I shall change between a tank, magic chest, and wizard thing!"

Now that was a challenge, as I recall. Or at least without the lazy troopa shells.

Well, err... my first anime's weren't really so cool as much as... yeah.

I don't even remember their names, since I was five or something, but on Nick Jr they would play 2 animes every day. One that was basically the adventures of this girl with her pink and blue stuffed bears that could talk, and the other was just super-animefied fairy tales.

I then started leaning towards the Rocko's Modern Life side of animation, and completely forgot about anime. However, my sister's friend, who was anime obsessed, got my sis to buy FF7, and she didn't like it so she gave it to me. And then I was sucked back into this foreign finger trap again.

But the first real anime I ever watched... would be Gundam Wing. Probably one of the better ones to get hooked with, IMO.

ZOMG! I just realized that I do believe in something divine, but only listen to Darwin's theory! Yegads, what a developement!

The common misconception people have is that Intelligent Design is simply Creationism without any reference to God in name. So let me define these three theories as I have seen over the years:

Creationsim: The belief that God created the universe, seven days, apple, yadah yadah

The basic proof creationist show is excerpts from the bible, and only so many sentences can be pulled out of there. And oh yeah, the bible's recieved revisions up the ying yang before the king whatitsname bible was published. So with that problem, the main idea behind Creationism is disproving any other theory that comes along, not supporting their own. "But what about dinosaurs?" They got killed in Noah's flood. "And the close relation to, oh say, chimpanzees?" Coincedance.

Intelligent Design: The belief that something divine created the universe, or the real creationism argument.

Above, I stated that there is a difference in Creationism and ID besides reference to God, and here it is: ID supporters gather scientific evidence. In turn, these are the real arguers of Creationism, AKA the threat. They point to scientific evidence and say that there are to many coincedances (the golden ration being an example) for it to all be random. All in all, actually a really good argument when viewed from a neuteral point.

Evolution: The belief that humans evolved from a lesser form, monkeys and such, and that no holy influence happened at all.

The other side of the argument. Darwin came up with the idea that human's evolved from lesser beings, one things worshippers of God disliked about him, and that no God influenced the creation of anything, another knife in the side. Just like ID, this is a real argument with scientific evidence, and therefore must be viewed by both sides heavily before being disproven, something that many ID believers and all Creationist seem to not do. The point does come up that near the end, Darwin believed that there was not nearly enough proof to support such a major theory, but in no way does that mean he didn't believe in it.

So now that we got all three sides covered, let me go over another common misconception. By banning a theory of human creation from the biology class, in no way does that make discussion of it impossible. It just means that it can't be part of the mandatory school carriculum (help with spelling that please B/). So the argued point isn't being able to have it discussed in the class, but forcing it to be discussed.

Now, I know that there is no such thing as a proven scientific theory, and that there is no absolute truth. But Darwin's theory does have substantial proof when compared to the other theories, and since many of the things taught in science are just theories, and many other potentially right theories are just waiting for more evidence to be taught in a class, the evolution theory being the only one taught is perfectly alright. ID and Creationism just need more proof, and given the way their activist go on about their research, it shouldn't be a problem.

Second point. If one theory of human creationism based on a religion were to be taught, shouldn' that mean ALL theories of human creation from EVERY SINGLE RELIGION OUT THERE should be taught as well? And there simply isn't enough time in a school semester, or year for that matter, to discuss every one in detail. So in all reality, avoiding the mandatory teaching of a religion based theory might give a clearer image of the theory.

By no means is the teaching of Creationism and ID not allowed in schools at this point. History and religion classes can cover these in any school. And without enough scientific proof, the theories should remain in a history or religion based class. I'm not saying this as a believer in evolution, or as some aetheist, but as someone looking at it with common sense. Anything that doesn't have as much scientific proof to prove it shouldn't be taught alongside other theories with a substantially higher amount.

But I do believe in Christ! Merry Christmas!

Doesn't Star Ocean for the SNES have a translation patch? I'm pretty sure that I saw one at Zophar's Domain once.

SNES
Mario RPG
Umm... wow. Everything else for this system was already mentioned. =P

GBA
Golden Sun
Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age
Pokemon (ok, ok, it's crap, but the idea is good)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories

PS2 (these are the good ones)
Kingdom Hearts
.Hack// parts 1-4
Xenosaga 1-3
Star Ocean: Till The End of Time
Dark Cloud 1 and 2
Lord of The Rings: The Third Age (I found this one fun, but those who like to rip the movie apart due to innacuracies with the books would say otherwise)
Full Metal Alchemist: The Broken Angel (good if you're a fan of the series)
Full Metal Alchemist 2: The Crimson Elixer (ditto)
Dragon Quest VIII (BURNINATION)

Above list would take, oh, I estimate... 1.25 years to finish.

Aburrrr! =P

Actually, as I recall reading in a Nintendo Power way back when it was the cool thing to do (oh, I think the one where they covered LoZ: Oracle of Seasons), someone sent in a letter asking whether it was legial to own ROMs at all. I don't know if they were BSing or just telling the real story, but they responded that whether you owned the game itself or not, it would be illegial for any amount of time you owned it.

Apparently, in some places like Australia, this rule doesn't apply at all for now-defunct systems (NES, GENS, ect). In fact, it is entirely legal in those places to own a ROM of a dead system for any amount of time whether you owned the hard copy itself or not.

Yet not once have I heard of ROM downloaders being tracked down like those who pirate music, and honestly, it's a completely different method (click on link, OHNOS PORN, download ROM). So tracking downloads would be a lot harder.

Also, just thought I'd toss in that IPS patches are just as illegial. Don't know why, guess I should look into that.

But you know what that makes us? Interweb pirates, YAR!

Back in my DBZ days (shudders), I do recall this english patch for DB Gokuden, aka the only game based on Dragon Ball. The text was translated wonderfully, it stuck to the series, and I believe it covered the entire Dragonball series. However, it was extremely hard to find as I recall, and for some reason I could never knock the enemies health below 1 HP. Glitch or special attack requirement, I know not. But it's at least worth a shot, IMO.

Well, SonicStrike has links to ROMs on it's site. Mostly defunct ROMs, but a fw more recent ones, such as the Sonic Advance series. Anywho, they put up the Beta version of Sonic Advance 3 on their site for download, and low and behold, SEGA gives them a call. But you know what they said?

Please take that ROM down, kthxbye.

That's it.

I already heard that SEGA doesn't make nearly as much a big deal about ROMs as Nintendo, but that was a good showing of it. They didn't even threaten to press charges against the owner of SonicStrike as I recall, showing their lack of caring. So it must not be a big deal to the game companies right now.

Also, I couldn't help but wonder:

well unless u get ur cpu confiscate and even then according to jomb even then they dont care or unless they really wont to catch you but i havent heard anything about ppl getting caught and put in prison for downloading roms and i guess its nowhere near as popular (prolly more like infamous for those of u who actually know the word) as pirating music and movies because businesses lose alot more money where as with roms they usually only lose little because most only download older stuff that ppl have prolly nvr heard of

What?

I considered adding Yu Yu Hakusho to the list, but realized that most people probably had never heard of it and would just toss it aside. Mind you, I stopped watching it right before the last episode, and that was a heart breaker.

Naruto just seems to sum up everything great about anime these days: good music, good animation, great stories, big twist (ZOMG Naruto changed his clone into a shurikan and then threw a knife that's the ROXORS!!1!), and wityness up the ying yang. There's a marathon of the first twenty or so episodes coming up this New Years Eve on Toonami, so go watch.

One Piece never hooked on me. Seems a bit childish, despite all the action. The game is fun though! =P

And Generic... Holiday... Username, guy. I did mention Read or Die, cuz holy shit, look at her. She can make a sword out of paper. Talk about a paper cut. Mind you, I haven't had time to watch the series, but the movie was definantly up there with the top ones I've seen. And Wolf's Rain... I dunno, I guess I never got hooked. That guy who dressed like a jigalo in leather scared me away, I guess.

Witch Hunter Robin, I forgot to mention that. That's a good series. Not the story, or the characters, or even the animation. But for some reason, it just rang of total goodness.

And let me re-elaborate on Case Closed. Best-show-ever. Screw the fact that the animation is from the '80s, or that the chances of that many murders happening in their vincinity is highly unlikely. No matter how hard you worked at solving the murder, they would always toss the real culprit at you out of nowhere. And then here would be the clues, and you know what? They were there the entire time! Awsome! Plus, the fact that there's a bajillion episodes and a munchkin detective hiding his identity helps to.

But you know what? I can't believe I forgot it, and I'm so ashamed.

GIGANTOR!!!!

Wow... you really are new at this, aren't you?

A flash cart is a cartridge designed for a specific system that can hold several ROMs for that system at a time. So if you had a GBA flash cart, you could have, let's say, Kingdom Hearts: CoM, Mario and Luigi: SS, and Mario Kart all on it at the same time. When you put the cartridge into the player, you can select which game you want to play.

Hopefully not. The magazines you want to be heard about in are ones like EGM. Being in Nintendo Power would be like "Now this guy, he got all the Pokemon".

DigiPen, congradufuckinglations. My jealousy is showing.

Right now, I'm applying to Champlain College and UAT in Arizona. I'm sure I can get into UAT, but I'm really looking forward to Champlain. By all accounts, it's the nearest thing to Digipen on the East Coast.

Also, for all future game designers: Don't go to Full Sail. Just Don't!
