You know what's ironic? This picture depicts exactly what I'm trying to prove. The two faced mentality that the internet presents to us from the lack of real identity. And just because this is the Internet doesn't mean that we're all suddenly separated from society. THIS IS SOCIETY! The only difference here is that there's a mask between who we really are and who we want to be to other people, and it pretty much just causes problems such as this. I do have a correction to my original post, though. Bush bashing doesn't really fall under flaming, but when it's all one can do to present a point than they're just biased, which falls under the same category as "ignorant" for me.
I didn't really mean get rid of it completely. I just think that those in charge should know that they're the role models of this place. If they act like they own the place and can do whatever the hell they want, then others will follow in line and take from their examples. Graduated learning, like I mentioned, is a good idea and should be adopted. Simple warning for first offenders are a good start, but for people who blatantly break the rules should be dealt with swiftly because they're just out to have fun, they won't take a ban very seriously. Anyway, I just wanted to get that rant off my chest. Didn't mean to insult anyone. PS: Cheveyo, if you want proof try looking around the Pit of Despair, or just read some locked threads, like this one. I have no quarrel with why it was locked, I understand why it was, but the second post should identify a point I'm trying to get at. At least the mod who locked it was serious about it, rather than mocking me. |

| Smoking pot is different for different people. Some people smoke it to have a good time, like drinking beer. Some use it as an escape from reality, like kids with broken homes or punks who want to prove that tey don't care about authority. Some people use it to block out a physical pain, like a broken arm or cancer.
Speaking of cancer, pot is ALOT healthier from a vaporizer. All you get is pure THC. No tar, no nothing. Just smoke (Hence, it's not completely healthy, but your lungs will thank you). |

| It's already decriminalized here. You can have under 30 grams, but if it's all in dime bags then they'll probably bust you for trafficking. Anything under 30 will be confiscated and you might be given a fine, depending on how much you're caught with.
I personally prefer Salvia, largely because of it's after effect: Mass euphoria. That and it's a natural alternative to Acid, and probably much healthier, so long as you don't use a vaporizer. |

I can agree that sometimes the law can be a real pain in the neck, Jomb...5 points if you can remember where we discussed this topic last...
Originally posted by Skydude I myself hate prescription drugs, simply because of the fact that they don't heal your problem. They interfere with your body's natural functions so that whatever you're inflicted with will eventually die out. That doesn't cover ointments and some prescription drugs, though. Only most of the drugs they make you pay for. Things like Tylenol and Caffeine actually help people overcome their ailments, whereas things like Benadryl will never cure your cough, only produce a thin layer of film on your lungs to keep them from going overboard, and produce a lazy effect to stop the body from getting rid of that too. |

| Non Smokers just see it as "Just another useless drug". Lest we forget that alcohol is a "Controllable Substance" and apparently that makes all the difference in the world to the legal system. Unfortunate yes, but I can bet it might change eventually. | |||

| The world is comfy with the way it works. So long as people can make ridiculous sums of money nothing will change.
And nobody cares about Africa. Nobody but the bleeding hearts who can't do anything and those who have an obligation to make the worls problems their own, like the WHO and NATO. That much has been proven with Rwanda and Algeria alone, along with tons of other unstable countries. Most Europeans have grown accustomed to the way things are run so much that those conditions will never change. The nexus of civilization is America, and because of that nobody from America will spend their hard earned money on a poor country's development or stabilization. If it were up to me, there'd be a convention in place to keep a globally stable environment in place. But that would cost money, which (Yet again) nobody will put into that. God forbid the corporations who profit into war agreements lose some money. The church has no real power anywhere outside America, so that can be ruled out. But in other parts of the world, faith has alot to do with the way things are run, especially in Arab countries. They have very strict mantra's that they stick to like glue. Hell, most Islamic people pray 3 times a day, whereas christians rarely even go to church. A church would be lucky to see some people visit even on Easter and Christmas, the 2 most important days in the year. But God Bless America, for our wars are justified in the name of the god and the people. (edited by Rom Manic on 03-21-06 12:59 AM) |

| I smoke it fairly often, at least when I get the chance. I won't go out of my way to get some, but I know people who just love the buzz and smoke it every day, kinda like an addict but won't flip out if they don't get any that day.
The buzz pretty much makes everything feel slower. During your first times smoking, your sensory perception like touch, smell, taste and sight are altered, some more than others or some not altered at all. Colored and flashing lights catch your attention much more so than when sober, and your appetite for something tasty will increase. An itch might feel different and feel better when you scratch it, and I've found that your smell receptors are pretty much wiped clean. If you're not trying to smell something, you won't smell it (Especially the natural pot stink, you almost will never smell that for a while). Some of these altered perceptions do not change with time, but for some people you begin to lose your interest with trippy lights or munching out and just chill around. Hell, with some people it makes them want to go adventure somewhere. Also, I've found your physical stamina is increased, like your walking ability. I can walk for hours in the cold when I'm stoned, and won't complain about it. I'll be thinking how shitty it is walking in that cold, but I won't say anything, just keep walking. I guess it kinda makes you more focused on one thing. It can also affect your artistic ability. Your imagination is at it's peak when you're buzzin, so if you like to draw then you'll probably be able to whip up something pretty creative while high. |

Originally posted by RedFlameZero Actually, that solves two problems. We no longer have to worry about illegal shipments of Pot coming into the homeland, and then people can start to focus on getting some good homegrown going (Ours kicks ass, not sure about America's). EDIT: 3 problems, actually. No more black market economy for the import of foreign pot, thus putting more money back into the system rather than sending it overseas. | I'm pretty sure border control is tight with importing pot from Canada (Where I currently live), so I didn't think it was a big issue. But yeah, canadian pot is awesome. | |||

| Oh I'm sure there is alot of it, but I meant the quality of it. Generally speaking, imported shit grows much better there, and thus there's a little bit of demand for it. | |||

| I perosnally listen to music when I'm depressed, pot doesn't really help or hinder my mood setting. It just numbs it away for a bit, unlike alcohol which makes me feel so happy and carefree and ignorant...It's a great feeling, but I don't drink when I'm depressed, I've seen what kind of bullshit people are capable of when they're drunk and depressed.
But I do agree with the fact that alot of people who smoke pot use it as an escape from reality. I don't see how it blocks it out, but thats just for them, I guess... |

My own version of how the world should work. You work, you get paid a set amount of money each month to spend on whatever you want. If you own a business, you get quadruple that amount to spend on your business alone, plus your own salary for whatever you want to spend it on. Anyone who does not take advantage of this new freedom and do what their passion is will be placed in a job. If they still decide to not work, their salary is reduced for a period of time. Continued abuse may possibly result in reposession of assets NOT provided by the government. Jailtime/execution/sodomization is not an option. Assets provided by the government include a house for any person 18 years of age or older, electricity, cable, internet, running water, and a mode of transportation (AKA a car). If a person is married to someone else, both partners share said assets, and whichever spouse moves in with the other returns all physical assets to the government for further use. All profit a company/busness/you make(s) is deposited into a national bank run by a group completely separate from the government, as does all the money earned by import and export, along with any other source of funds. The government (For once) does not really have much power, and therefore it is possible to completely eliminate a government entirely once the new system has been implemented and become stable. And thus, anarchy can finally reign like it was meant to be. But essentially, the government is there to make sure everything runs like it's supposed to by sending out little messengers who's sole job is to interrogate and seek out anyone trying to take advantage of the system. Every year, there is a form issued to everyone who is of age to own government assets and report how much they spent (On average), how much they didn't spend, etc. This is to determine if everyone is spending their money appropriately. And since whatever you don't spend builds up gradually, you can buy more expensive things over time. If the need for government becomes apparent once again, there will be an election to choose candidates the people want, not who the leader of any party wants. This is all theoretical, of course, but this is indeed the system I mentioned that I made up in one of my posts here a while back. Incomplete, of course, but it's yours to criticize at will, as it's a work in progress. (edited by Rom Manic on 03-31-06 12:10 AM) |

| Pot is damaging to the human body, I don't doubt that at all. But since it's such an effective painkiller and mindsetter, I'm surprised it isn't encouraged by Psychologists and Doctors more often.
Feeling down? Smoke a bowl! Got MS? Smoke a bowl! Headache? Smoke a bowl! Dislocated arm? Smoke a bowl! I think you get the point there, though...And I think the issue with saying those things (For psychological reasons, at least) is that you NEED the drugs to get over it. God forbid you might live in a broken home on welfare with a crackwhore mother who bitches 24/7 about every single thing and have bitchy, bratty siblings, not to mention teasing at school as a youngling. And the sad thing is that I bet there's more than one person in this world like that. So why not? Is it not respectable? Getting stoned just to get stupid is the same as drinking just to get drunk. ...Sorry, tried to be as unbiased as I could there... |

Originally posted by mattp That theory can't really be connected to reality because there hasn't been a real revolution in a while where we can compare political notes, see what was wrong with the pre-revolution state and what they changed. We live in a completely different society today than from the last time a real revolution did. We now depend on computers, internet, and a high enough income to keep us off the poverty line. But alot of things I didn't mention we can get rid of to make that theory work. Government in general, to give an example, but the main focus was to eliminate Capitalism. Without Capitalism, everyone would make the same amount of money and nobody would be poor. Yes, the mantra of the communist and socialist parties ensues into this version of democracy. If we taught ourselves to be independent, there would be no need for a government at all. This system is a guideline towards a great system where everything is run by people outside the government, but the government remains the watchdog. It defends us, it trades for us, it provides us with valuable assets such as a house and a car, and it even keeps everything running smoothly for us so that we don't have to. I'll admit that sounds awfully close to a dictatorship, but if you use your imagination, you can see that it is indeed a democracy. You see, the governments role is very simple, as I just outlined for you above. Most things the government used to do are now run by the separate states/provinces (Such as police forces), and individual companies within them, rather than one corporation controlling the entire country. This is helpful to eliminate any corruption the government would have as a monopoly, and those companies power can't exceed past the border. In essence, we could definitely move towards a safely established Anarchy by switching to my system. Yes, it's incomplete and just a theory, but I'm just a 19 year old , and I'd like to see your better idea. |

| Immigration is the best thing you could do for a country. Control is needed, yes, but what is needed more is spending time teaching these immigrants how to properly integrate with our culture. In my personal opinion, it is in their best interests if the immigrants like to become legal residents of that country. Mandatory, perhaps.
I mean, without trying to be too mean here, how many mexicans do you see doing very successfully that came to America on a boat? |
