what do they have the power to do, though? they aren't the distributors or the lawmakers, all they can do is rate the games as far as i know.

sorry about capitalization, my left hand is dealing with a large bump on my face and the shift key isn't easily reached.

Well, the least they could do is set up advertising campaigns to inform the citizens of yours and my country about what is contained in games like GTA and Halo and Silent Hill. It would be a start, anyway...Other than that, they really have no power to do much of anything.

Nevermind actually getting them run somewhere - I can only recall three video game advertisements in this area in my entire time living here (actually, I can only recall there being three, I only remember one of them - FFX2 - because it kept playing all the fucking time), and I'm honestly not sure the ESRB would do much more, especially considering that it could wind up working as essentially free advertising for the games...

Well it's not really so much as people actually paying attention to the advertisements (Not many people do, anyway), but something is at least better than nothing. That way, one person sees it, they might possibly go so far as to bring it up at the dinner table, or when company is over. From there, the whole idea of mature rated games becomes more introduced into society.

The best thing I could see happening is a legal requirement that M rated games not be sold to anyone under 17 (some stores already have that as their policy, I even ended up getting carded at Gamestop, and this may be law in some places), and that any people buying an M rated game with minors accompanying them be informed of the game's content. There may still be the issue of the older brother, sister, cousin, or whatever else buying the game, but at least it'd cut down on the number of ignorant parents. Hopefully.

I like the idea of the store clerk informing the adult about the game content when there's a minor present. It might be hard to keep on top of all the games in stock, so maybe a list would have to be compiled for the games they have in stock.

I knew they would eventually come forward. It's been such a long running war, and I think ALOT of good can come with this new development.

And yeah, I'm rubbing it in the bush administrations face

Thank you for wasting 10 minutes of my time. All I essentially got were:

- Kim Jong Il is leader of a gang
- He likes missiles more than fireworks on Independence Day
- He should be removed from power because he's a good dictator in a nation torn into two pieces
- America must yet again flex it's muscle (Though unknown to you, this didn't go over well with the current war)
- You have no concept of what human rights really mean
- You apparently don't understand the massive trade sanctions put in place over North Korea.

Because I pointed out in the linked post that these insurgents attacking the coalition forces wanted peace all along, not war.

and how is this somehow not what the Bush administration wants?

From the fact that the United States does not negotiate with terrorists in the first place, making the war even longer than it should have been.

this means the could end sooner. I highly doubt Bush wanted the war to last this long. All that this means was that the war worked, the continued efforts of soldiers eventually outlasted that of the insurgents.

It's about time it did, no argument there.

Peace only works when both sides want it to. We could have offered peace at any time and they might have taken it temporarily. However now that they are asking for it, it may turn in to a lasting peace as opposed to a more temporary one.

Peace was out of the question the moment George Bush said we do not negotiate with terrorists. It's what he should have done in the first place.

Essentially I just use my D: drive for storage. My personal shit goes in My Documents. However, I do have a temp folder in C:/temp for any files that come out of an archive file.

Well, in all honesty, this is not a matter of free speech. This is a matter of national security, and it looks like we caught the "Federal Authorities" with their pants down.

What we just caught them doing: Interrogating a minor without A) A lawyer present, or B) the parents and/or guardians.

Does this consititute a breach of some kind of juvenile offenders act or something in the United States? If so, I might question the "Shoot later, ask questions first" policy of the FBI or NSA.

Aside from that, I haven't really heard much else about the peace talks in Iraq, has anyone else? No doubt the outcome will be on CNN, but something tells me they are just buying time to rergroup.

Well, not really end. It is the end of the human civilization on Earth that is being questioned here.

I've had dreams for the better part of 2 years now that have slowly described the end of the world as know it. In detail, I will go over them and try to piece together the sequence of events.

In the coming months, aliens will come to Earth. It will come to us by surprise, much like you would expect when you visit a villiage. They'll just be there, looking for something. Eventually, there will be communication, and a group of people from earth will be sent up to the vessel the aliens reside on. At this point, there will be mistrust from one member of the group, and problems ensue. The aliens grow tired, and they leave earth.

This, however, sparks new interest in space expedition. After the aliens leave, humans begin to develop technology for space, which will be availiable to the military, mostly, and the rich.

In 2008, a muslim is elected as the president. There is much controversy, but he eventually settles many disputes in the middle east. However, terrorist cells (Who they are is vague) sneak a dirty bomb into Los Angeles, and later on there is a nuclear fission explosion somewhere else in the United States.

During this madness, the US and allied forces attacks North Korea, but is repelled by superior placement of soldiers, cunning tactics and military skill. The US and allied forces eventually retreat.

This sparks new interest in leaving the Earth. Governments fall to the ground as countless millions expedite out into the vastness of space through the technology gained when the aliens came.

------------------------

So yeah, thats about it...I find it believable because one part I left out has already come to light. It was a dream of me standing in front of the ocean, on a dock, with the words "Steven Harper" eachoing in the back of my mind. Well, not really echoing, I just knew that Steven harper had some relevance to it.

The reason this has relevance is that Steven Harper recently passed new legislation on something to do with BC's port security. I'm not sure exactly how far it goes, but it has relevance.

So, when all this comes to pass, what would you do? Would you go to space like many other humans, or would you stay on earth?

It might not happen. It could just be something for me, with a higher meaning. Like in the one dream I mentioned at the bottom, I did see that in my dream, but all it meant was something else. It resembled a metaphor of what would happen. So perhaps these are metaphors on my life, who knows.

I just think it's bound to happen.

I feel sympathy for Sadaam Hussein. I would never order him to be killed for what he did. We all know what he has done, or at least a fairly accurate description of events that led to his downbringing, but does anything really constitute a human being killed to make things right?

One word: Exile?

By the same logic that a fetus has no feelings or desires, every cell in your body is useless and should have no say when it comes down to it being killed.

Picture a single cell organism. It has a purpose, but if you killed it, it would be unable to fulfill it's purpose and therefore whatever it was doing would never get finished. This single cell organism's only desire is to complete its objective and split into 2 brand new cells, or simply die. That is the course of life. The only desire a fetus has is to grow and evolve into a human baby, whether it consciously knows it or not.

What right does ANYONE have to take that away?
