I have to say, I am a bit disappointed with this game. For one thing, I got it Friday and I am near the final boss already. I just thought I got to the last part way too quickly. It took me longer to get to the final boss in SS. I loved SS for it's really awesome plot, plus there were a whole bunch of crazy disasters and troublesome situations that sidetracked the bros, which PIT seems to be lacking. It just seems that one thing happens after another, and nothing unexpected really happens.

I did like some parts of it though, the addition of the babies was cool, and I was happy to hear Mario and Luigi's gibberish talk again . The bros items were a nice little change from the bros attacks in SS, but those Smash Eggs were a bitch to use and I never was able to make them work, so I sold them all to buy better stuff .

Anyway, this game was nonetheless entertaining but didn't match up to SS in my opinion.

Well I just got to the final boss and I'm pretty disappointed. The storyline didn't have that moment-to-moment crazy unexpected disaster element that SS did. Plus, the game lacked many characters...there were a shitload of them in SS...some good ones were Popple, Rookie, Birdo, Hermie, and Fawful. Partners in Time didn't have that many characters at all, just all those annoying shroobs . Plus, it seemed pretty pointless to have the game take place in the past. They could've made Peach get kidnapped in the present because having it occur in the past didn't seem to have any purpose besides bringing in the babies.

I got to the final boss and spent a couple hours trying to beat her with no luck, and I used up all my items, and ultimately died anyway, so I gave up . I don't think the game prepared you well for the final boss because all the other bosses were piss easy.

I work at Spencer Gifts and honestly it's quite boring. They trick you into working there with their "Life's a Party" montre and "cool" products, but it loses its novelty very quickly. I'm seriously sick of selling what is 95% pure crap in that store. I've been trying to get a job at Majesco Games as a tester for the past few months but they never called me for my second interview like they said they would, so I am hounding their asses.

The rips look decent, but you can definitely spruce up the appearance of the graphics a lot. Brightening up the colors in the FG might be a good idea, and adding a more detailed BG will make it look a helluva lot better.

And there was really no need to show the OW at all since there's nothing there at all besides the clock sprite.

Downloading the hack now...some comments on the screens in the mean time...

1. Are you going for some kind of curtain border in the title screen? Because if you are it looks terrible. It just looks like an ugly blob of blue. True to add some more detail to it and make it look more like a curtain if that's what you're going for. Plus, the "Mario's Return" text looks sloppy and squeezed together in some places...you can do better.
2. Wow, the original Star Road with a new castle and rock, impressive .
3. Not bad, but you can seriosuly do better with that one pixel level title text.
4. Looks good, but you oughta scribble some lines or something on the headstones to make them look like they have writing on them.
5. Same as 4.
6. Screen isn't showing for me.
7. Ditto.
8. Don't really get the text message...hopefully I will when I play it.
9. Oh noes...Mario and Luigi clones. Nice excessive use of those little pipes.
10. Zzzz...boring. At least from the screen alone. Also, if you look closely, the grass part of the left slope does not meet up with the grass on the flat ledge next to it. Oh...but kick-ass status bar text.
11. Also boring, but only judging from the screen.
12. I know you took this from the SMW+6 copy I gave you . Tee hee hee. But it looks good.
13. Nothing too thrilling here.
14. SMB3 Bloobers...only selling point of the screen.
15. Not sure what all those blocks do there, but it looks okay.
16. Good night.

Anyway I'll play it now and see how your level designs are.

I played through the demo, you have some good levels here. The new bonus game is very cool. The only problems I saw were the quarter circle that appears quickly at the top of the title screen, and in Teacup Isle 3, the screen starts at the bottom then scrolls up when you enter the level. Other than that is seems to be good.

Awesome job...finally great to see this game being hacked. From what I see in the screens, everything seems to be designed well without any glitches or anything, so you're off to a great start. I like your usage of SMB3 and SMW graphics, it fits in very well. Keep it up.

I was able to make a full hack of SMW2 with that editor, so you just need a lot of patience and effort and you can make something good out of it. If you have any questions at all you can ask me via PM since I'm pretty much the only person who can help you with this. I could use another SMW2 hacking "client" .

Wow, I love all your cusmon features! Especially the blue Map16 tiles in the 8th and 12th screen, great idea to bunch them all together. I absolutely love all the similarities to the original levels, you are some daredevil! I love how you compliment your own levels via the message bolks too, that shows a lot of confidence, great job!

Seriously, I'm on my last thread of hope for SMW hacking.

*Grunts*

Alright, since I have to be nice...

Problem 1: Too many similarities from the original game.
Proposed Solution: Delete everything in the level and start over. Add some new palettes and change the BG to something different.

Problem 2: Use of the Map16 blue blocks
Proposed Solution: Don't use them, they look terrible.

Those are the two major problems that should be fixed. Of course the grammar should be fixed but he can't help it, so I'll turn away from that.

Good luck.

There I was nice, and constructive.

*Kindness off*

I've been around here for 4 years, I've mainly hung around SMW and ROM hacking. I've seen my share of the rare good stuff and the abundant amounts of crap.

Hey Drac . Anyway, I can help you out with hex editing. Definitely with level names and adding more object/sprite data to the levels, but I wouldn't know how to change enemy's power. Anyway, let me see if I can find my old tutorials on that stuff. I'll PM the info to you once I find it.

I've tried that. The Pirahna acts in the same exact way as if there was water...so unfortunately you won't be able to make it do anything special in the absence of water.

Looks pretty good so far. Keep it up.

Also, you could try putting lava in the Pirahna boss room, but lava requires a specifc special effects setting, so that may conflict with the special effects needed for the boss. You can give it a try though.

My votes go to...

FuSoYa- LM and DWTLC did it for him .
BMF- Impressive ASM in SMO and cool storyline.
Ghettoyouth- Awesome graphics and storyline for PITMK...and not afraid to be controversial .
Ice Man- Great graphic rips and level design, level difficulty needs a bit of work, but other than that, great SMW hacker.
FPI- Very fun level designs in SRP 1 & 2, and hilarious Chaos Complex .
Juggling Joker- Fun levels and awesome candy tilesets.

Everyone else, you either are not so good at SMW hacking, or you don't bring anything too stunning to the table .

Ow.

Don't take what I say too personally. It takes a lot to impress me, having a decent hack, at least a demo, is something I prefer, along with fun levels and nice graphics. Don't expect me to go hullaballoo over animations alone, I'm looking at the overall scheme of things.

I wasn't particularly impressed with your hack to be honest. The level design didn't really entertain me too much and some graphics need work...

You didn't vote for me either, so you must have your reasons as well .

Well, fact is you don't have a demo out so I can't judge your overall abilities, now can I?

No no, now you're confused. Using graphics and level design in the same sentence isn't to signify which is of more importance to me, it's to show the level of quality in your particular hack. Both are mediocre .
