I can answer this one DD.

The 1st block on the left is seperated from the other 2 because it has a completely seperate function.

Block #1 is an item holding block that behaves the same as in SMW, anytime during gameplay you can hit 'select' and this item will fall from the sky.

Blocks #2 & #3 are your basic card holders, to display the cards earned while completing a level.

I've felt since playing the demos, that the art for the 2nd block should be either moved to the left of the "run bar", or have a different border, or use a different color for the inside to accent it's role as the 'item box'

BOBTHEVILA -

I was changing pallete adresses today in my Donkey Kong 2 hack, I found that what pallete sprites used was found very close to the pallete graphics. Try searching for the hex values of the top 2 squares of the hamburger (found using the PPU viewer in FCEUXD), and one of those numbers next to it may allow you to use a different pallete.

I'm liking the idea of a improved Wolverine game, the original wasn't too bad of a game, but the graphics sucked. It plays just like the Wolverine level in "Spider-man and X-men" for the Genesis. You might want to reference that game for ideas.

I think that display would be more usfull if it counted down, and displayed the amount of levels you havn't completed with the coin

I opened up the Wolverine rom to look for that sprite by searching for its tile values 02 04 03 05 and found nothing, then i searched for 02 03 04 05 and couldnt find that sprite adress anywhere. You might have to go through and look for every instance of the value 02, change the value, reset the rom, and look to see if it changed the Hamburger sprite. If you were able to change the sprite, than look for other values around that hex value location and it may be the pallete value.

I was only able to do this once ina very old NES game, it could be much more complicated in this rom, so theres no promise this will work.

I've been dealing with that first color in my hack also today. I found that, when I changed that color to blue , all the palletes also changed to blue as their first color. You might find that to be the same in Wolverine.

This is great information. I was trying to search through this rom for the music data so I could construct those sounds clips in another game.

Any clue where the Music Data is??

And to compinsate this BUMP here are some pics

your a funny guy, July 31st fooooooools!!!!!!
no really that blows that you dont back up your work everyday. No need to punish yourself.

Listen up! I'm sure you realize that all files never leave your hardrive no matter how much they are deleted or erased. Take your hard drive to a computer store and see if they can restore your files. It IS possible.

So to everybody! Deleting files from your computer only deletes the address going to the file! It is still there until something else uses that address. So when dumping out your computer don't just delete all those embarassing pictures you take of yourself, REMOVE the harddrive and take a sledgehammer to it.

I await Mario Adventure 2's return

Thanks, I'm working my ass off on this Nut's & Milk hack, finding and learning about all the data in the rom. So far I've been successfully crossing the bridges.

Q: Does anybody know what the story is behind those firey chicken looking things from the final DK level. that I made as the bad guys?? are the flamming pies? what going on there? What are they?

just think of what was lost... the functional Birdo, the fire storm, the thwomp suit, the open ended overworlds. It must be seen.

I found out how to tweak the palletes in a way so I could add the DK Jr platforms, but then I can't have any square blocks in the game.

Are the DK Jr platforms worth not having blocks?

Ive tried already and unless somone with a long expirience with hacking tells me i can, i wont change my mind.

As I was saying before it got deleted, I first had the idea of Predator being a good Halo hack. But then again Halo is very vehicle based as well, and Predator is lacking vehicles.

Another game worth looking into is Low G Man, in this game there are vehicles that could be converted into Banshees and Ghosts and any other if you can figure it out. Also he jumps extremely high like MC. In the game you also start out with a pistol and a melee attack like halo, and can select between weapons. The way you get the vehicles is by hyjacking them like in halo.

What do you think?

Can't wait for the new screen shots.

Q: What will you do with the "Large sprite auto-scrolling" levels?

I had a thought that the large sprites and auto-scrollin nature of these levels gives you the perfect oppertunity to make these "WARTHOG" levels.

You could keep the same size sprite for the main character, but have him driving a warthog (or other vehicle) with a gunner riding on the back.

Do you think this would work?

hmmm i bet those sprites are large enough to transform into a warthog without needing any ASM. Check it out.

later i might try to change some gfx to see what you mean by glitches. ltr

My Nuts & Milk Hack is comming along nicely.

I've added new jumping physics that allows me to make tighter levels
I've also added a working Pie Factory Level
Im almost done all the animations
then I'll replace all the music and sound with Donkey Kong compilations
then I'll finish designing the levels

Yes, one of the reasons it's going so slowly is because I get caught up in playing it.

This game is going to be VERY challenging
You are going to have to learn how to do several trick jumps
in order to shave time or beat the levels

I'm also planning a sequel using the DK jr platforms and themes with different bonus levels, graphics, enemies, and music

Once I release my 2 Nuts and MIlk hacks, I will release my documents on it.

I am able to change things like
Music, Badguy Sprite, Levels, Sound effects, Jumping physics, pallete address, and basically everything in the game.

But keep on trying.

Hows this comming along?

I was thinking that the Warthog jumping isn't the part that doesnt make since, it is when the warthog ducks that is the strange part.

I thought that during normal stance, the bullets shoot out of the turret, and while ducking, the bullets can shoot out of the passengers gun. But the warthog looks the same either way. Would that work?

But while ducking the warthog stops, so maybe it makes since that the bullets come out of the drivers gun. This is justified because the driver would have to stop in order to take aim and shoot his gun.

That's imaginative using hydrolics, but I believe your going to run into problems. The turret is the tallest thing on the warthog as you can see by the pics. In order to still use the turret while ducking, the warthog would have to be squashed down to fit within 1 row of tiles for the bullet to match up. That's all I was thinking when suggesed having the driver shoot while holding the down button.
