It is true, I have'nt used a Mac in at least 5 years. If i ever get an opportunity to use one again I'll give it another shot. But I'm not going to buy one as my next PC unless i get to try it first!  |

| I just found out that Arthur Lee died last week. He wa sthe primary musician behind the band Love.
Love has been very important to me personally. Their album "Forever Changes" is one of the best albums of all time, and was one of the few things i had with me that helped me survive the worst years of my life. Arthur Lee, RIP |

| Just because you did'nt say something does'nt mean it was'nt implied. Until after my post when Snow Tomato chimed in, you basically told everyone who tried to give you advice that they were wrong and what they were suggesting was foolishness.
if "being super nice and friendly and holding back physical attention" works so well, then why dont you have a GF right now? Why do you want advice at all if that is the path to sucess and what you are already doing? Should'nt this be you giving everyone else advice on how to be super nice and friendly and hold back physical attention as a technique to attract women? If you attempting to date a girl causes her to hate you and never want to be your friend, then one of 2 things is going on. either 1) you went way too overboard with the "being bold" thing and she thinks you are a stalker, or 2) she is a prissy jerk and not worthy of your friendship anyway. About the kissing thing, I could swear you said earlier that you did'nt want to kiss anyone until after marriage, if i misread that somewhere than my apologies. I'm not suggesting you walk up to a girl you are attracted to but dont know and say"hello baby" then immediately french kiss her. I would'nt even do that. I dont normally kiss a girl until the second date, or maybe the end of the first if it went extremely well. By the end of a date or 2 you know her well enough to like her. You dont have to me madly in love with her to kiss her. Its very obvious to me that you have little to no dating experience. You actually somewhat remind me of me when i had little or no dating experience. I used to not want to date anyone unless she was "the one", then i would invest a tremendous amout of emotion in my GF about a month or 2 after we started dating. In my opinion you are setting yourself up for some serious depression when you do meet a girl and start dating her. Its very very rare for that first or even 2nd or 3rd or 4th one to be truly lasting. If you happen to date your soul mate right off the bat you a basically a lottery winner. You dont have to date multiple girls at once, but you're better off dating without a whole lot of emotional investment right away, this is not to say treat her badly, but be realistic about whether or not this is the girl you will one day marry, or would really want to marry. Most girls are not looking at dating the way you are, even if they seem to be or pretend to be. Being at a Christian College full of conservatives does'nt necessarily mean what you think it does either. I dated a girl who went to a Christian College full of conservatives once. She was very conservative when other people were around, but it was a sham, she was extremely kinky and perverted in the bedroom and at any time when no one she knew was around. She was the wildest woman i ever dated when you get down to it, but she was like another person when her family or friends from school were around. Human nature is human nature i guess, no matter where you are in the US. |

I wont say much because we can both be very long-winded
But one thing you should consider is that dating and serious relationships are two seperate, but related, things. To get a serious relationship you start by dating the person. Casual dating is used to get to know the girl better to find out if you are compatible enough with her to enter into a serious relationship. I think you are trying to skip this step and go directly from regular friendship to serious relationship, skipping dating entirely. And like i said earlier i can relate to that somewhat because thats what i used to try to do way back when i was new to girls and dating. I'm sure alot of the people at your school are genuinely conservative. But i also know for a fact that many are not and are there because that's where their parents wanted them to be, or because its a good school and they just want the education. Any girl who wants to only date a guy she knows she will marry is a fool and is most likely setting herself up for a bad marriage. Because you have to get to know someone before committing to such things, and you do that by a period of dating/courtship. Unless we move to India and get arranged marriages |

| I think minimum wage is essential, it should protect us from ending up like we were way back at the beginning of the industrial revolution when the factory owners paid out pathetic wages from back-breaking labor, and people ended up working 16 hours days to get by, plus had their children doing the same.
The best idea i heard is tying the minimum wage to inflation, because right now you hear shit like "minimum wage is higher than its ever been, quit bitching!", but what they dont say is that although technically it is higher, when you look at how far the money goes, it does'nt make it nearly as far as it used to, due to inflation. Personally i have no trust what-so-ever in big business or corporations to do the right thing by their workers. I think if they could get away with it they'd pay the workers far less than minimum wage. Maybe there should also be a maximum wage
If we got some kind of universal health care for all our citizens, then minimum wage would be less important. I know many people who have no health care and never see a doctor for anything because they simply cant afford it. |

| I think you are right, the main reason you got so much stuff that seemed like bad advice to you is because to you dating and serious relationship are the same thing, but to most people dating is just the getting to know her with the option of a serious relationship open if you end up being compatible.
I dont know much about Taiwan culture, but in lots of places to the East it is common for the parents to arrange the marriages of their children. So perhaps she really is expecting her mother to have a hand in coming up with her husband. Maybe you'd do well to talk to her mother and get on her good side if you want to date the daughter? | I'm confused, is this a hypothetical situation, or has it actually happened? If it is real, did it actually happen to the poster, or is it being posted on behalf of someone else?
It sounds like something that actually could happen, based on my experiences with the legal system. Sometimes they will come up with any excuse to slam you ("look she is unrepentant about her love of Sprite, proof she is pure evil and a menace to society!"). |

| Go look in a prison sometime, at least 60% of the people in there are black. Considering they make up about 10% of the population.... So it becomes a case of which came first, the high crime rate amongst blacks, or the racial profiling of blacks? Prisons in general are getting ridiculously over-crowded in the US, we are talking about millions and millions of people, we lock up more people than the rest of the world combined, including China.
So you can only reach one of 2 conclusions, either the USA is a country over-whelmingly full of dangerous criminals, more so than all the rest of the world, or we have a broken justice system and a "lock em' and throw away the key" mentality. |

What we need is less lynch-mob mentality towards people who commit a crime, and more trying to help people to overcome whatever problems caused them to commit the crime in the 1st place. Once we lock someone up for years in a monster factory with no honest attempt at rehabilitation, how is it surprising that the man returns to us as a monster? Rehabiliation wont work on every single criminal, but it does work alot better than what we do right now. We as a society are extremely focused on the victim, and helping the victim, and thats great, but the offender probably needs help to. Helping the offender to become a decent person prevents future victims. Locking him away for 2 years (or however long) and treating him like sub-human garbage the whole time makes future victims more likely. " I wouldn't mind my bags being searched if it made everyone else on the plane feel safer. Like if you're innocent.. it shouldn't really be a problem." It would bother me greatly if i was being singled out for some bullshit (like searching my bags), just because of my race. Over time it could fuel a persecution complex amongst the race which is being singled out. Once you feel like nobody trusts you and you are under constant suspicion for things which are out of your control, that can be used as justification for committing crimes. You might figure "fuck it, this is what they all expect from me anyway...". |

| I think that, although it is possible to improve your status in this country, the game is very skewed against you if you dont already have money in your family. If you come from money, your chances of maintaining that level of wealth are very good, even if you are unmotivated and/or stupid. But if you come from poverty, your chances of one day being rich are very very small, no matter how hard you work.
I know guys who are dumb as hell, but were born rich. They got bought into good schools/jobs that much smarter but poorer guys were excluded from. On the other hand I grew up with a guy who was rather intelligent and did well in school, but his family made just enough money to prevent him from getting any kind of college assistance, but not enough money to realistically put him through school. |

| Somehow this does'nt surprise me, the paranoia in our country, especially about the dreaded "sex offender" is spiraling out of control, and has been for many years now. The very idea of having any registry of people is a bad one. It benefits no one, because real serious predators simply offend in an area other than where they live, where no one knows about them, and the people who really could have had a chance to turn their life around are denied that by the registry. Its basically anti-rehabilitation legislation.
In my opinion what needs to be done is the removal of all registries, but the civil commitment of people with uncontrollable mental disorders causing them to rape people. |

| It's very messed up that you have to pay for someone else's debt, especially when it was just a BF (you were'nt married were you?). Even if you cant directly get the money from him, could'nt you charge him with theft of the items he bought using your money and maybe get them back and sell them to help cover the debt? (assuming he bought material things with the money). I'm not sure i understand how this could happen, why cant you just charge him with stealing from you or identity theft or something similar? I'm not familiar with how the Australian legal system works. There is just something funadamentally wrong with holding someone responsible for the debts of their BF, you did'nt co-sign on his loans did you? Are the collectors also after him? | |||

| In my opinion, if you have to wait more than 6 months for any sort of sexual contact you are wasting your time. If the issue is that the girl wants to save her virginity till marriage then i'm willing to compromise with her if she'll meet me half way
Sex is important in any romantic relationship, if you dont think it is, then why wait at all? If its something trivial then waiting even 1 day is silly |

Terrorism is like a bear/shark attack. The chances of being eaten by a bear/shark are miniscule, many many times less likely then dying in a car accident or from smoking, yet when it does happen it generates lots of publicity. The publicity makes it seem like its more common and threatening than it actually is. People start getting scared and acting irrationally. What's messed up about terrorism is that certain politicians are harnessing this fear and paranoia to do some frightening things. |
