| I've been away for a very very long time. I'm wondering if there is a place anywhere that archives ROM hacks. Back in 1999 there used to be, but i've been away since then, and i cant find anyplace like that now. When you create a new hack, how do you unleash it upon the unsuspecting world now-a-days? | |||

| I dont really have the time to make such a site either (too busy working on hacks and an origional game). It just seems like a no-brainer that there should be a big giant site where people can go that archives ROM hacks. It would be so much simpler than having to hope you see it on a message board somewhere, or having to seek out hundreds of different locations to see whats out there, which i just dont have the time to do. If such a place doesn't exist, it's just begging to be made! | |||

| I'm 99% sure the ips patch is legal, even if just putting up a ROM might not be.
I can see it would be a big job. Maybe if it only had complete hacks which have a significant number of changes or dumber ones which somehow managed to get popular it would'nt be as much work. I still think someone who has the freetime and interest ought to tackle this someday. Till then I'll probably be mostly in the dark about whats out there. |

| Hello, I'm Jomb. I'm the creator of a notorious ROM hack. I've been away from the scene for many years. Now i'm back. I have limited internet time though, so i will only be popping in once every couple days at most, until i get my situation straightened out. I have a second even more disturbing ROM created, but have not released it in any real way because i'm not sure how to go about that at this time. I'm also working on an origional game which i'm making from scratch. It's got a long way to go yet though. So far all you can do is scan around on a randomly generated world map and buy things at a store. If it turns out how i want it to it will be cool, especially to people who like retro-gaming. | |||

I've never released a hack here before, so be kind if i'm not doing this right. I dont have regular internet access, so i dont have the opportunity to post screen shots, sorry. Anyway, they would be highly disturbing in nature. A long time ago i made a hack called Pussy City Pimps. This one is much worse  So check it out at your own peril. I was going for highly offensive/disturbing, and my aspiration was to make the absolute worst possible hack. If you are willing to try it out you will either be offended and pissed off, or laugh your ass off, depending on your personailty and tolerance for obscenity. This link, if it works (i've never uploaded a file that way before), will get you the patch. Apply it to the Little Nemo: The Dream Master ROM. This is the complete and final version. Read the readme in the zip.

At least it seems that some people have been able to successfully download Little Remo. No it does'nt have Michael Jackson in it, but there is a guest appearance by Charles Manson if you look closely. Dr Mario: Yea, I sent this one to them recently to, and got no response. I think it was actually too obscene for them. Setser: How about Fritz the Cat? Heran_bago: It was'nt easy making every scene in the game just reek of sickness, but it got done. Apofisu: I'm going for a strong negative reaction, thats what the hack deserves! Alex: if it makes you violent dont even attempt to play it, the thing would be one big black censor mask if you censored it. Mack Daddy: "You Pube!" | If there is going to be an Adults hack section you can put my hacks there, they are both very complete. I just posted one here recently, and the other can be found on I-Mockery.com. I have third in production, but it will be awhile before its done yet.

| Actually no, I dont think I was ever on any of these boards. I was last active in ROM hacking in 1999 and have not had internet access since 2000 until just recently. Was this place here in 1999? If it was and i was here i dont remember it. | |||

| Yes, of course most ROMs are illegal. Just because something is illegal, does that necessarily make it wrong? I can understand why a ROM of a relatively new game is illegal, but after it gets old i no longer agree with the law. Term of copyright was origionally much shorter than it is now, way back when. And rightly so. What happened was greedy corporate lobbyists have managed to extend the term of copyright to an absurd degree.
But why do we as a whole accept this? If i was a house-painter and i painted your house, you'd pay me then and it would be over with. No one would stand for it if i kept coming back demanding more payment for that house i painted years ago, or insisted all new owners who buy the house have to re-pay me or my heirs because i painted it 30 years ago. Why we accept the notion that people who make intellectual property should continue to be payed for it essentially forever, while any other working joe only gets paying for actual work being done is beyond me. |

| Its not a perfect analogy, but what if you did'nt get a new paint job, just bought an old house, should you have to pay for the old paint job again? Or re-pay the architect who designed the house? Have to pay each seperately for each person living in the house, or who visits? If i gave you my old car, should you have to pay a stipend to everyone involved in making the car and anyone who did repair work on it? People who make intellectual property should get paid nicely WHILE THEY ARE WORKING. Not for over a 100 years after the fact. | |||

| Here is how much they care about old ROMs.... many years ago i had the honor of having my computer confiscated by the authorities. On this computer were thousands of ROMs. I even had a couple Playstation ISOs. They never mentioned anything about the ROMs to me and gave them all back a few years ago. Obviously old ROMs are not big on their agenda of things to do. | |||

There are lots of reasons it could happen, messy divorces with wild accusations used to gain custody of children, being used in a criminal case, being used as evidence of criminal insanity, being turned in by other people who have something against you (and lived in the same house as you), etc. Bottom line though, mine was confiscated with gigs worth of ROMs on it, and nobody cared. Has anyone actually been charged for emulation related crimes? I'm not 100% sure what the case would be like, but i would assume that if you arent involved in actual piracy (selling ROMs for profit, etc.), then it is at most a civil case where you'd get sued by the copyright holder for money. If you are selling the shit then you're facing up to 5 or maybe 7 years, in a low security prison, which aint shit, at least compared to super-max. |

| I would so love to so Bush impeached. But my confidence in my governments ability to even know what justice is, let alone go after it, is so low that i highly doubt a damn thing will be done. Whats even worse is the vast majority of the public wont even care, or will blindly believe anything the government tells them anyway. Bush will probably find some non-issue to bring to center stage and get the attention off of him (such as gay marriage) | |||

| You're 16. You may think you're really in love, and who am i to tell you you are'nt, but i have my doubts. Most people dont really know what love is yet at 16, even though they think they do. I was that way myself back then. A long distance relationship is hard as hell when you are an adult and can actual visit each other once in a while. It's going to be next to impossible for it to work at 16. When you're 20, if you still feel this way about this guy then maybe it was for real. But you'll still have all that distance to deal with. Are one of you willing to leave behind all your friends and family to be together? Thats whats going to have to happen for this to work out you know... For me, the one time i was in love, i could'nt think of any other woman. And the thought of trying to tell the woman i loved that i was seeing someone else would have broken my heart. | |||

| What a parent may perceive as a spanking, a child may interpret as a beating (being much smaller and everything). There are tons of better ways to deal with misbehaving children other than this. I was spanked as a child. I was not beaten, though it seemed that way to me at the time. What it taught me was to fear my father, and that whoever is bigger and stronger can do whatever they want and beat up anyone who does'nt listen to them. It never once made me think about what i had done wrong, but instead created an enviroment of resentment, i felt that i must not be loved because how could you hurt someone you love. I've since had all kinds of problems with the law in my teen years. I've had to live in group homes before, so i've talked to hundreds of boys who were also in trouble. Violence in the home and corporal punishment were an extremely common thing to hear about, right up there with parents who simply dont care at all. It was very rare to meet someone in one of these places who had loving parents who never hit them. If i ever have kids there will be no spanking. |
