| Mel: "So the flood it is..."
Mel glowed light blue as she released her next spell. Water began to pour from the sky at an insane rate, water rose out of the ground and swept along unknown rivers. Mel: "Flood!" Water washed over the entire field, Mel retreated to a nice cozy tree branch, escaping the rushing water. The water would be dangerous for things unable to swim, which she was hoping the lizard men and women couldn't. Mel: "And Ice Platform for the next spell..." Mel started to glow deep blue, a lot of her water and ice magic was dependent on each other, and soon she'd reveal how strong they could be. |

| Difference between watching TV, is that you aren't forced to do it. It is illegal for a kid to not be in school, it is not illegal or a violation of your rights to leave the room because you don't like something, it wouldn't put you in a bad situation and in fact would put you in a better, more comfortable, situation.
If you don't like what's on T.V. don't watch it. I can't say the same about school. (I'm 16 by the way and this was talking about introducing it into a public school district, which makes me think elementry, middle, and high school. Like little kids have a strong hold on their beliefs anyways.) Yeah, I've pointed out the prime differences to the situation, one is a violation of my rights that is reasonably unavoidable, the other is just a violation of what you want to watch.
How did God get there in the first place? How did this superior being come into existance? Was it just always there!? Maybe matter and energy were too!!!
I'd have to take a test in it, and have you ever tried to take a test when you believe every single thing is an absolute lie? It would be unfair to me because I wouldn't want to believe it. Again, change the channel and don't listen to commercials, I sure as hell mute the T.V. and just ignore them flat out. You have a way to avoid it, students wouldn't, that is the big difference. Now, if there was an elective curriculum, that was completely at the choice of the student, about learning the different theories of the universe, sure teach it, that'd be great. |

| Mel jumped into the air and her magic touched the flood water.
Mel: "Ice Platform!" The water froze over where she was going to land, giving her a safe evasion from the daggers, for the time being. She hid behind a tree that was now frozen in place. She needed some time to work out a plan, electrifing the water or find out a direct attack, they'd both take time. |

... I'm surprised someone didn't do that yet. Every once in a while, when I eat to fast or get in a rush, or hell, just when I don't chew my bread enough. |

| Mel: "Damnit..."
Mel jumped further back, into a tree and started her charge. This next attack would be a big one. Her aura was emmiting an incredible amount of electricity and almost caught the tree she was standing on on fire! Mel: "Beasts... prepare yourselves." |

| Mel moved quickly and jumped into the air, her sword behind her, imitating her father's attack, but with a lot more power. Lightning struck the blade and a huge crash of thunder drowned out her shout.
Mel: "Thunder Fury!" Mel brought the sword forward and another huge crash of thunder drowned out all sound, hundreds of big lightning bolts started to strike crazily towards the two lizards, with each strike a ear damaging thunder clap followed. Mel fell towards the earth, lightly cooked from her own attack. She landed on the top of a tree and felt the same pain from her own attack which she did all the time. More lightning then her body could handle had slightly burnt her, it was far from devastating being on the attacking end, much like getting a bad shock from an outlet, except all over the body, however, anything on the recieving end, wouldn't be to happy. |

| Mel: "I'm not giving you time for that."
Mel rushed the blue one, trying to stab directly in its heart and take a quick kill. She had the swordsmanship and the grace to go through bones if she really needed too. OoC: I'm off for the night ![]() |

If ID is shot down, what happens? Nothing. If evolution is shot down, what happens? We're reverted back to an illogical and completely based off faith answers. |

| Anyone played this? I just beat it, and I think it is awesome, really awesome. Although a little easy, this is one of those games that kept me entertained so I beat in like 4 days, where as some others, it takes a while to get through them because you aren't that interested.
Really though, if you haven't played it, get it, SNES game . |

Originally posted by Squash Monster So, long knives are swords, long daggers are swords? Katanas aren't swords because there are multiple types of katanas, katanas are a catagory, just like swords, knives, and daggers. However, if you do want to get more specific, katanas, along with sabres and others, are actually back swords. Y halo thar wikipedia |

Learn to block sometimes too, although just slicing through attacks works just as well. Still, R block is required on certain attacks. If you want to make the game obscenely easy,, over level. I might actually get into rom hacking and make it more difficult if I stop being lazy. |

| Surprised there isn't a topic on this.
Yeah, I'm not very far into it, maybe 3 hours, but it seems like a great game. Some of the monsters actually made me laugh just by their names and appearences and sudden randomness, but seriously, it's a great game. Traditional to other DQs that I've actually gotten into a little, never beat one sadly. So uh... what do you guys think? |

| Rectangle's are a type of quadrilateral. It is four sided and falls under the catagory of quadrilateral.
Square's just happen to fall under the same rules as rectangles, but are in fact rhombas(rhombi? rhombases?) also. Type's of shapes are categories, because categories share a multitude of of simliarities, in te case of swords, shape. Alastor is right though, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to a lot of things though, and I do make uneeded efforts to start arguments. |

| Yeah, except you know, katanas have a much more curved blade, are single edged, and come from a completely different culture that made their own weapons. Swords are also known for a more balanced way between a thrust and a slash where as a katana can't really thrust half as well as it can slash. | |||

| Wikipedia also points out that people don't believe katanas are swords.
You're right though, it is how wide the definition of sword is, but when the only similarity is that they have a blade and are somewhat long, the definition is to big. |

| Because the definition that people are presenting basically says any long bladed weapon is a sword, which simply isn't true. | |||

Originally posted by Squash Monster Right, people is plural, maybe person would've worked better. (btw, another reason this is a bad definition is that "slightly" is all objective, but a falchion/cutlass/sabre/katana do not seem slightly curved to me, that is one big damn curve to make.) | More specific, katanas aren't the only things that shouldn't be named under swords. Hell, katanas are cool in their own right, but I don't believe they're swords. I don't believe sabres are swords either, I believe they're sabres. Falcions are falcions, cutlasses are cutlasses, etc.
Swords refers to the european/roman weapons that were used to both slash and thrust effectively, although there are many types of these swords such as gladius, two handers, and just middle/short/long, etc. You know, arguing this much really just makes me realize it's completely pointless . |
