YY-CHR also has ADF files, which allow you to change to order the tiles are drawn in.

Setting all three "color emphasis bits" darkens the entire palette, Rockman might want to look into making codes to do that as well.

Yet Battletoads manages to pull off full paralax background effects, PCM audio streaming (for some of the sound effects), high scrolling speeds, two player coop, and many simultaeous on-screen sprites... all with no noticable slowdown (at least, I don't remember the game ever slowing down).

They sure don't make 'em like they use'd to, do they? Speaking of which, Battletoads was fairly early in the NES's life, wasn't it? I wish developers would push consoles to their limits like that nowadays...

Wonder if he actually hacked the ROM or just shopped together some screenshots. I was working on a beta hack/hoax for a while, but I stopped, I have too many projects as it is.

Oh, and that Rush Drill is the laziest thing I've ever seen

I agree with the two syllable part, they should at least call it the Nintendo Wii, like the DS. Even then it still sounds weird, but at least it's better.

Of course, I'm going to keep calling it the Revolution.

So far, from what I've seen, MZME is shaping up to be a great editor. It's still pretty rough in some aspects, graphics are a little garbled, some rooms don't load, but that will change in time. I'm really looking forward to making a hack with this editor

Zero looks decent, you'll need to change the other graphics for him to really fit in though.

The X3 armor looks great, you should hack it into X2, I've never liked X2's armor for some reason.

As I said in the other thread it looks really good but maybe a little too hard, I'll have to play it to see. The music changes really interest me though, not many hacks bother with that.

I tried to catch you on AIM tonight, interdpth, I thought about something after I signed off last night. I'd like the ability to copy an entire room to another one, it would help making new rooms that replace older ones.

Palette editing would be nice too, I'm not good with graphics but a new palette can give an area a fresh look.

Also, has anyone looked into the starting point? Will it be possible to start at the ship, like Super Metroid?

There's Metroid Legacy, I didn't get very far in it but several people confirmed that it was complete before I added it to RHDN.

You could use it for effects, like having it on when you pause the game or something. I can't think of any games that actually used it though.

Hmm, that means I can add a lot more to this hack I have planned than I thought... I may just be able to make a believable "city" area.

I wouldn't doubt it, I recognized just about every area of Legacy, part of the reason I never really got too far in it.

Ah, so that's why most emulators don't flash correctly, I never even thought about it using monochrome to achive the effect.

If you want the patch head to Dbi, I won't be making a thread about this hack here.
