Bah, stop bring politics into this, redrum wants to be credited for his work, credit him. I've posted hacks without the creator's permission, but I also printed who made it and linked to their page.

By the way, redrum, how've you been? Haven't talked to you in ages.

It's funny, I just learned this myself not to long ago, I never noticed that, I always assumed the battle formations were hardcoded.

Win(d)Hex32 is great if you do a ton of text-related work and its a good all-purpose hex editor as well. It's liked a beefed up Thingy32.

I couldn't care less about graphics, so long as it has great level design

Right now it just looks like minor edits to the existing levels, these hacks almost never get played, try to spice things up (a lot).

I was a huge Traslhextion fan after Thingy32 stopped working correctly (And before that Hexsposure owned all... too bad it doesn't work on 2K/XP) but its much easier to do text-related work with WindHex32.

Final Fantasy IV has an unused magic-casting animation for Kain, and an extra magic menu presuably for him. Early Japanese screenshots show him with a White Magic command.

There are also many unused "who can equip" combinations, many of which include two unusable character (Golbez and Anna), its been speculated Golbez may have, at one point, become a playable character for the last dungeon.

You'll have to scroll down some, but's VERY hawt :3

Hm... that IS pretty good.

However, I'll need to know how to change teh GFX index of the level in the rom, as well as add new ones

Not really, just hack the graphics that are already there.

Animal Crossing is an upgrade of the original. Why would you want to play an inferior version? Now, the Japan-only Animal Forest +E had a few more upgrades, so I could (somewhat) understand, but I'd rather have the DS version coming out Monday.

If I developed a game, spent a year or more perfecting it, and then the day it was released it was already available on the internet as a ROM I'd be pissed. That's the current state of GBA/DS emulation (Even though the DS isn't emulated properly yet the ROMs are out there, maybe I should say GBA/DS piracy)

If I developed a game ten years ago, it's not sold in stores anymore, I don't make a cent of it, and a fanbase wants to emulate it I have no problem with it what-so-ever. My guess is this is how most developers feel about everything prior to N64 emulation.

It's still illegal no matter what.

There's a lot of SMRPG info here. There should be a text inside the zip showing the addresses of text in SMRPG (i think it's called smprpg_text.txt or sth like that)

There are magical things called pointers

I doubt he has the skill to edit pointers, but they're there.

...why not just use an NES emulator to play NES games on your computer? What's the point of running an NES emulator in a GBA emulator?

This doesn't make any sense, you're not messing with your configuration setting or something are you? Deleting SRAM files? Anything?

You need to explain it in more detail for anyone to answer, what's the actual problem? Saying it's breaking doesn't help anyone help you.

If you want a good emulator use FCE Ultra (Or FCEUd or FCEUXD, although they're made for ROM hacking-related purposes)

It's not possible, that boss uses three colors, plus transparency. It's not possible to display any more colors on the NES.

As for the hack, I'll wait for the final, I hate demos.

Posted on 12-04-05 03:04 AM, in How do you create a demo? Link
Demos... aren't fun. If you release a demo of say half the game, chances are the player will not bother with the final version. When you get to a point where you could release a demo you should make a beta and send it to a few private testers instead. They can find bugs and make suggestions, at this same time publicly release screenshots of interesting things, but not too many, it'll be just as bad as releasing the demo. Build hype, but not too much hype (People shouldn't be disappointed), and finish the hack.

So many hacks come out as a demo and are never finished. It's sad.
