What the hell! I dont remember the Midway Entrance and the Entrance being proportional to each other! Sure it's been about a year or two...But since when do you have to have the Midway Entrance proportional to the Entrance? I want to have a Midway Entrance near the top of one screen, and my start on the lower of another!
Help!

...Yea. I think I might just work on the SNES Editors some more tonight, but uh...

On another note, have we tried subliminal advertising on places like Zophar or Emunet(I think thats what it was...)?

That will increase people, once they see its...well....It's POTENTIAL is better then Zophar...

After 2 3/4 years away from SMW Rom Hacking, I have reemerged. After my first failed attempt at SMW Hacking (Mario's Chance), I quickly attempted other ideas, and failed to show any effort on those eather. These ideas ranged from Sonic in Mario, Time Trial Races, and some stupid Stickman...In Mario. After these ideas died and dropped from my mind, I learned that, maybe SMW just wasn't right for me. So I moved on. I looked into many different Level Editors for something to edit Yoshi's Island(Of course, with constant help from GoYo on the way ), Sonic 2, Solomon's Key, Snoopys Magic Show, and a few others. All of these failed, and soon after, I lost interest. Till one day, someone named Gil came along, and boosted my confidence and spirit. He tried to teach me ASM 6502, and I took writen notes, and got about half of the basics done. Then he dissapered one day...I never attempted ASM again. But, thanks to these lessons, I learned how to Search for Codes(GG/GS), and Corrupt and Find Data! I took off with these learnings, and tried my hand at many things. Donkey Kong for the Game Boy, to Super Mario Land, and even Kirby's Dreamland, which I soon found after from someone, that it had the most confusing encryption out of most, if not all Games. Things slowed down, as I tried all kinds of games, and never really got anywhere with them. Eventually, my interests in Rom Hacking died. I browsed the RH Board every so often, I stayed out of the SMW forum, and most importantly, deleted everything, if not all of my past attempts at Rom Hacking. The dark ages...had come. I came to the conclusion, I didn't have the patiance, or the time to edit such rediculus, most likely unplayed, unenjoyable games. After weeks upon months of nothing, I woke up one morning after a rather enjoyable dream involving a hack of YI with things that would never be possible in the game. This jumpstarted my want to hack, like one would jumpstart a car. I started up my PC later on, and went straight to Acmlm.org. Downloaded Lunar Magic, a Rom from another site, and made sure it was a clean Rom. I planned the idea of my hack and everything soon after. It would be, about "What We Loved!". After about 2 hours into making my first level, I though about what I would do when I go to my other parents house during the week... This was one of the factors that killed my older hacks! I thought in sorrow, as I knew that transfering the hack back and forth was less then fun, and I did not want to go through with back forth. After further contemplation, a spark was lit, and it came to me. "Two editions! One for each house! Each with about fifty levels, different maps, different levels, different everything!" Of course, the only thing NOT different, would be what they were imagined to be about...

"What We Loved!"
--------

Now that I am over with my life story about Rom Hacking, here is the first LevelShot(LevelShot meaning larger then a regular screenshot and showing more of the level) to be released to anyone, of "What We Loved! - Red Edition".

Rather Large LevelShot PNG

Wait...No ExGFX? Nope. Not on my watch. These are Hacks about "What We Loved!" Remember when a Rom Hack was a simple level hack with maybe a few graphic changes and it became an instant classic, enjoyed by the masses? Well I do. Specifically GoYo's early hacks, and a few other stray ones I played back in the day.
These Hacks will be centered around Level Design, and basically Level Design only.

So that LevelShot is whatever level it becomes to be in the Red Edition. You may notice that there are only 4 Dragon Coins, and this is because the level continues far past this LevelShot. Also, hidden things are not shown, as to not spoil anything, and thus, are missing from the LevelShot. And last thing, in the top left part of the LevelShot (That word is annoying now isn't it ), you notice that there are some ropes dangleing in mid-air. This part has not been added, but you are not missing much.

Progress on Blue Edition is also into production, sadly, with no picture. It almost has a level done also, and the start of a changed overworld.

So, if you have beared with me this long, then I would like to say thanks for reading, and hopefully I can get some feedback on what I have so far, and what is going to be done.

...Yea. Thats why they are being updated still....The descriptions are far from done YD, so they just contain the name of the zip file. Its part of the code Xk has, where if there is no description, it reads the name of the file. Or...At least thats what I assume.

Mario Paint....The Fly Swatter game....Not only was it weird enough, but the bugs make like...Voice clips from people...Like "Blip." and "Pew!"...And then like, Level 3, you start killing flys that make woman sounds....

Also the most weird thing I ever DID in a Mario Game, was in SM All Stars, when at my friends house, we got pissed and threw SOMETHING at the system, and when it made contact, the game froze to a black screen and was playing the song from the last Bowser or something...It was definatly like a final boss music. We were able to replicate it, but I dont recal ever pinning where the music came from in the game...

Well, the aim wasn't to just make a hack with no ExGFX...

If I wanted to, I very well could! But, to keep with the theme, I want to stay stray of ExGFX, and make a hack that is based around good gameplay and solid level design, as those are the two things early SMW hacks had, BEFORE the wonders of ExGFX and other things that were later implemented.

I want to make this fun, unlike some people who want to make SMW hacks with character replacement, impossible levels, garbage levels, or into a whole new game etc.

Im not going for something unique here, like hacks that are MENT for no ExGFX. I am going for what we loved when we found out about Mario World hacking way back when, and how we saw peoples hacks and dreamed of becoming as good as them. Trust me, I used to think Acmlm's SMW hack was god-like, and I always wanted to be like Ace. So instead of make a hack that replicates older hacks and their style, Im making one that reminds us of them. Kind of along the same lines, but different in terms of design.

Thanks for the feedback though, replys encourage me to work more on things like this

If you read, you'd notice I covered why the two ropes arent finished.

Yea, I figured I would get these kind of reviews...
And yea, what I ment was that my HACKS failed. Should of made it more clear. It wasnt the programs that failed me, it was my interest in the hacks. And I didn't give up on ASM, the person who actually cared to teach me has been missing for awhile, and I would gladly pull out my old notes in my notebook, and learn more, but I need to be tought from someone else. Reading for learning dosn't work for me....

And unoriginal? Yes. Red and Blue isnt original. What else do I have to choose?

I felt this comeing. Tis ok...I dont want to work on a hack that noone cares about then.
Maybe I should take up programming then and make my own games.

Mods. Please do the close warp. This hack is shelved and dead now. Noone cares, noone thinks the idea is the greatest. Meh. Then I agree. I dont do this for ME. I do it for PEOPLE.

EDIT: Changed my mind, thanks Grey

I want to make love to this game.

I didn't realise until about 20 minutes in that it was by the maker of Sim City...

Heh. Anyways, he said other "players", so wouldnt that mean there would be some kind of MMO on it?

Damn..."The game will periodically go onto the net and automatically download stuff made by other players. Apparently next to everything you see in the game will be player made as opposed to being included on the CD. You can even get a little thing that tells you how your creations are doing with other players, how many people have seen them, how many people have destroyed them or made alliances with them, etc. This way, says Wright, you'll be able to play with other player's creations (and they yours), while still being able to do anything you want and not ruining the experience for the other person. Ex. if you're powerful enough, you can blow anyone to smithereens. So it's not true live multiplayer"
