These are a lot of fun to watch, but on the other hand, I'm mad that somebody had to go program the tools that one could use to create such a movie, 'cause people like me who used to make savestate incapable .nsm movies have a shitload of worthless .nsm's right now. I could submit my dramatic speed run of Smb2 where I played all 20 levels with no powerups or deaths and it'd get spit on because somebody did it 10 minutes faster by cheating.

Well at least it revealed all kinds of things I didn't know about. I thought you could only get hit 3 times with the magic wand suit. I don't know what he did there. And that trick where you could go through walls, I didn't even know that was possible (probably easiest with the wand suit). I've done wall jumps a few times, but never wall skips.

Well that's one regard in which you have failed. . I think this is even more different from the original than M_A was.

I did get a couple strange one-time events to take place. In Luigi's 1-1, the game crashed upon picking up a red coin. No idea what caused it; I was sliding when it happened, but I've slid every other time I've passed through that level, and the game survived it just fine.

And in Luigi's fort, after I shattered one of the dry bones, it revived into a kicked upside-down beetle shell which actually hit me. Again, it only happened once.

As for the game, obviously there's a ton of potential here. I agree that Mario does seem to have a bit of an advantage by being able to hold a backup powerup, and it was a huge struggle getting through just the first level of each player with seemingly no possible way to gain extra lives, but I'll wait and see how the rest of the game plays out before I get all judgemental like that.

I don't like the conference championships because not all conferences have them, and I'd rather go without 'em than with 'em. Although if all conferences did have them, it'd essentially be a playoff system of its own. I like what the Pac 10's doing...having every team in the conference play each other. Too bad the rest of the major conferences have too many teams to be able to do that.

I'm tired of all the people crediting the BCS for "getting it right". There's two undefeated teams in all of division 1-a football, and when the Bcs decides that those two teams should be the ones playing for the championship, it gets praised as if it just cured cancer. Why does nobody seem to see that any idiot could have put the 1 vs. 2 together and get it right.

Well, I'm just as excited as anyone for the Notre Dame/Ohio State (not "Ohio"; last I checked the Bobcats went 4-7 and aren't going bowling). Gotta think the Buckeyes are going to be favored, as they're playing just as well as anyone out there. And of course hoping that Toledo (and to a lesser extent, Akron, however the hell they made it into the picture), can represent for the MAC.

Well, it is world 1. You make world 1 ridiculously hard and by the time world 8 comes, you're all out of ideas.

I opened the rom in a few editors a while back and could see all of the redesigned map levels (although I could only actually open 1-9). I also glanced at a few levels to see if I've missed anything, and found a couple levels I didn't recognize, but I wasn't looking too closely 'cause I don't want to know half the game inside out by the time the final release comes. So it's probably best to just leave it be, I'd say.

Quite the thing of patchable coolness.

But how does one load up map screen Tsa in the Tsa Editor? (excuse the dumb question but I just acquired the program yesterday and see that option nowhere on the menus or the readme. Is there a newer version than 1.0?)

Ohio STATE (jeez, people can be so picky)

Lol. Sorry, but Ohio U is typically a doormat team (although they did handle Pittsburgh this year) and I don't prefer to have my teams associated with them that way. I've actually seen apparel in discount stores that have "Ohio State Buckeyes" printed all over them, except that the colors were green and white, which are Ohio U's colors. Probably just some 6 year old kid in Taiwan who opened a book to see which colors to make the clothing he's creating, only to search under "Ohio" and not "Ohio State".

Buckeyes are an early 4 point favorite. That's about what I expected.

And I do agree that Oregon should be given a shot in all of this. Obviously that's what happens when you play Houston and Montana as your out of conference schedule. But it must be really hard for them to get good teams from the east to come all the way out there to play them. A few years ago a pretty good Michigan team went out and got their asses whooped at Autzen, and they pretty much decided they'd never go out west again after that. Oregon basically has to either play lesser teams looking more to collect a paycheck than to win, or go on the road themselves.

The "...?" level of SDW-TLC renders all intentionally glitched levels and hacks obsolete. If you can't do it better, do it right.

The Tigers opted for 41-year old Kenny Rogers to be (likely) the #1 or 2 starter, and 37 year old Todd Jones to be their new closer. I guess it was better to do that than to shell out ridiculous sums of money to get Bj Ryan and Aj Burnett, although this team has a knack for making such high-risk transactions, which both of those are. At least this time they're only 2 year deals. The signings aren't going to make things much easier for them, with 57 games coming against the White Sox, Indians, and Twins.

I think the White Sox have to be the favorites for 06 so far. On paper they look even better than last year at this point.

I dig 'em and think they're one of the more underrated bands out there right now, and noticed nothing wrong with their live performance a few months ago. "We've Had Enough" and "Time To Waste" (the latter especially) should have been smash hits.

Yep, and now they only have to eat Percival's salary one more year, unlike when they were paying Bobby Higginson and Damion Easley multi-millions to bat .200 and/or play golf.

Lol at the Royals...I guess all the players they're signing means they're giving up on a lot of their young players. That franchise has a serious deficiency of talent, though. Hard to believe they're only 2 years removed from an actual pennant chase. The teams of the last two years haven't really been too much different from that contending team.

Never seen the show. But yeah, you could tell just from watching the previews that the movie was going to be rather critically unacclaimed. Because I've seen about 5 different previews for it, and none of them even came close to explaining what this film could possibly be about. Because if they did, it'd probably deter people from spending their hard-earned money on watching it. They just wanted what the movie was based on to sell itself, and that was just a huge red flag for me.

My girlfriend was totally suckered into falling for the previewed special effects though, so I'll probably end up having to watch this against my will as a rental. I guess I'll try to keep an open mind. Wouldn't be the first time I liked a movie when everyone else thinks it sucks.

The city of Cleveland is more cursed than Boston or Chicago or any of those championship-deprived franchises ever was.

Seriously though, I must admit I was pulling for the Tribe to make the playoffs last year, despite them normally being my second most hated team besides the Yankees. I like the make-up of that team, and they were far more deserving of a playoff spot than the Red Sox or Yankees were (and proved to be), even with that complete meltdown they incurred during the last week of the season.

The Indians and White Sox just might be the two best teams in baseball now, and it's funny because only a year ago people were saying 80 wins would be enough to win the Al Central.

If an album gets released late in '04 and makes a significant impact in '05, I'd say it's gotta be fair game to be counted on '05 list-mania. I'd include Three Cheers on my top 10 of '05 list as well.
