| See that "Mail bug report" button? You should probably click on it. | |||

| Crap, I just noticed that the "Mail bug report" function was set to use an email address that has been mostly inoperational for months now, so I haven't received any bug reports for a while. Anyway, the problem with crashing on startup doesn't occur here. Anyone mind copy-pasting the bug report (click "Show bug report") and posting it here so I can see what's wrong? | |||

| BlueCar, Andrew got it right - it seems to me that you've actually made a copy of the SMB3WS executable on your desktop instead of a shortcut. Thus the program can't find its necessary data files and crashes. | |||

| You did what exactly? How is it not working? Don't be so vague. | |||

| Yeah, I'm here. Though I haven't touched anything SMB3-related stuff for a long time so I'm starting to forget things...
As for the first question, the Limit size feature is kind of badly implemented so it's not too helpful. Beneficii's answer was good. Are you sure you aren't adding too many objects, thus overwriting the next level's data? And as for the background graphics, there are certain objects that are used to change the background. See how other levels use them. I seem to recall said object must be the first object in the leveldata, and located at the top left corner of the level. Finally, everyone please note that my hukka@despammed.com email address has been defunct for months now, so you can now only reach me at hukka nic fi (add the punctuation yourself). |

| Yeah.
I basically know nothing about how SNES graphics work, but if it's not too complicated I guess I can add support for SNES ROM graphics in SMB3WS. Someone'll have to point me to some information on how the graphics are stored in the SMAS ROM, though. I'm currently having some hardware problems with my PC and also have other projects to work on, so it'll be a while until I'll touch SMB3WS. |

| I haven't written any proper help files because English is not my native language; writing sensible documentation would take too much time and effort for me. If someone else wants to write some documentation on its use, I'd be happy to complement it and ship it with my editor (with due credit of course).
As for modifying colors, open a level, then open the Palette Editor and it will display the colorset the current level is using. Choose a color in the bottom box (NES palette), then click on a color in the upper color box to change it to the color you selected before. (See, this is why I don't write manuals.) When done, click Apply to view the changes you've made to the palette. You can't change enemy colors with my editor right now. |

| Klinsk, the closest to such I think is smb3ws\data\data.dat.
Actually, my reluctance to write proper documentation is more attributable to my laziness than a lack of English skills. I already have another project which requires extensive documenting, and I just can't be bothered to do it with SMB3WS right now. If someone else wants to write a core documentation for it, I'd be glad to fill in/correct information in it. |

| Fixed - I was only reading 4 bits from the relevant part of the header instead of 5. | |||

| Hi, I'm unable to reproduce this - it doesn't crash here. Which version of the ROM are you using and which value(s) have you tried for the byte?
I did, however, find some oddness in how the dialog works, I'll revise that for the next release. |

| Hi,
I'm the author of the SMB3 Workshop level editor. I'd like to be able to post on the ROM Hacking forum to post the occasional tip/note regarding said editor and SMB3 in general. (edited by hukka on 01-15-07 12:01 PM) |

Psst, AlexAR, judging from the screenshot you're not using the latest release of SMB3WS.
Also, you can stick this updated config.ini in the program's data directory and then you'll be able to edit the items Princess Peach gives you from inside SMB3WS (Edit -> Edit Miscellaneous). Hack's looking nice, can't wait to play it. |
