Since 12 people bugged me PMed me that they support the new rankset, I decided to make the thread early instead of the original date which was next Sunday is tomorrow. It's about time we had a new rankset, the Mario one is pretty old. It took me 4 months to finish, mostly because the majority of the time was done during the school year. Well, without further delay, it's time to show it off.

Incase you are wondering why the hell I have some animated SMRPG sprite in my custom title, it's because I've made a complete rankset on SMRPG. I was inspired into making a SMRPG ranklist because of Zachio also had a SMRPG ranklist but the sprites weren't animated plus it was missing a lot of enemies. Here's the ranklist.

You want to know how they are organized? Simple, I averaged all the stats of every monster and then organized it from weakest to strongest. That is what Average Stats mean. Terrapin is the first rank after newcomer because he has the lowest averaged stats in the game. I averaged the HP, Attack, Defense, M. Attack, and M. Defense. The last five ranks which are the main heroes of the game were put in no particular order.

I skipped Jinx and the fake chest because they both don't have animations when it's your turn.

I also skipped a bunch of pallete swap monsters because I don't really like pallete swap monsters. Bandana Blue and the Crystals were the only exceptions because they are boss characters.

Megasmilax is bigger than 100x100 pixels so that is why I didn't put it in there and so were the other bosses.

I fixed the Sparky sprites since I heard from someone that setting the duration of a animated sprite below 4 will slow it down. So here's Sparky.



That makes 99 ranks. I think 100 should be the max. My rankset is already has the most ranks. The other ones have 92 ranks.

So, I will let you decide which one will be the 100th rank.

Trapster, Sonic 3 had a different mini boss music. When you play Sonic 3 and Knuckles, then the Sonic 3 levels will have the mini boss music from Sonic and Knuckles.

I've been searching for graphics all day today and here are the notes that contain the addresses as well as descriptions of the graphics. Maybe it will be useful for editing the graphics sometime. I found these graphics by using Tile Molester.

$A4C80 - $A507F: Spike Ball graphics
$A5080 - $A523F: Lighting Graphics that some of the cannons from Panic Puppet Zone Act 2 shoot out.
$135A20 - $13C420: Flicky Graphics. All of the Flickys graphics are here and they rotate 360 degrees as you scroll down.
$13C9E0 - $13CCD0: The pictures that you see in a item box. They order they appear in are: 1UP picture, 10 Rings Picture, Yellow Shield?, Blue Shield?, Invincibilty, Shoes that increase your speed, and Flame Shield?
$13CD50 - 13CF90: The points graphics you see when you send the Flickies through the Dimension Ring. The points are listed in order like this: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600.
$141DE0 - $143DDF: Pause graphics that appears where you rings are when you pause the game. All of it's frames are there.
$143DE0 - $143EDF: The graphics for the little Sonic picture that you see in the bottom left of the screen which is where the number of lives are. The blank space is where the number of lives goes.
$143EE0 - $143FDF: The RINGS graphics which appears in the top left of the screen in the actual game.
$143FE0 - $1440DF: The Flicky picture graphics that appear in the bottom right of the actual game. The first picture is a Flicky that is still captured by a robot while the one next to it is free.

Note that some of these addresses may not be exact but are close.

Using some of the limited data that was found in Sonic 3D Blast just recently in this thread, I decided to make a boss rush mode in Sonic 3D Blast. In this hack, you will fight all 8 bosses in a row. That means you only have 4 lives, that's it. It's a little bit challenging.



I'll give cookies to the guy that notices something different about this screenshot.

One more thing. I want to see how fast you can beat all the bosses. That's why it's called a time attack. Be sure to post 8 screenshots, 1 after every boss fight when you get your points. Here are mine.

Before I forget, the ROM crashes after you beat the Final Fight. I did that on purpose. If I didn't do that, then the game would have moved on to the 9th level which would be Spring Stadium Act 3.

DISCLAIMER: This thread has nothing to do with ROMs or emulation for that matter.

Wow, I can't believe it's been a year since I asked such a n00b question such as that one. I came to the board 1 year ago to play some hacks because I was getting pretty bored with my old games and had nothing better to do over the summer. One of the first sites to appear in a Google search was this one. I downloaded a few hacks that Acmlm himself made but couldn't get them to work.

This is where this thread comes in.

Yeah, that's a n00b question because I didn't bother looking at the other forums like the ROM hacking forum where my question could be easily answered in this forum announcement. A common n00b mistake.

Once I got that question answered, I started browsing the other forums, mostly lurking the hacking forums because I was waiting for new hacks to show up. I eventually started posting in other forums and here I am today.

That's my story.

So yeah, happy 1 year anniversary to me.
