| First, the question:
Is smoking sexy? Well that depends. You guys are all hung up on OMG LUNG CANCER and OMG BAD BREATH and OMG ASHY SMELL and OMG TEETH. Well....yeah. But the question isnt "Is lung cancer sexy?" The question, as I interpret it, is "Can smoking be sexy?" or, more clearly "Can "smoking" (be it the act of smoking or the presence of a cigarette, pipe, cigar, or related ect) directly increase the sexyness, sensuality, ect of a person, scene, situation, or picture?" At this point I wish to pause a moment to inform you all that no, I dont smoke. I think its a disgusting habit and anybody I had any interest in dating would have to either be a in the process of quitting, willing to quit *NOW* or a very very very very very very light smoker. Let us continue. Well that depends on how you define sexy. Does cool count? In the first Charlie's Angels movie, the creepy thin man smoked, and he was pretty fucking badass about it. Would I call it sexy? Not really. But thats not to say it isnt possible. Cool isnt our only alternative. Ive seen pictures and scenes in movies where it certainly DID add a little something. Would I call it sexy or sensual? ...no, not really. But I have seen it add a certian casual flair, or a certain mysterious allure. A certian something that does, in fact, result in me being more attracted, sexually or otherwise, to either the individual or situation. Yes, I think its disgusting and horribly unhealthy. And ice cream makes people fat. What do you people want from me? This is called objective reasoning. Now that THAT'S out of the way, lets deal with some of this negativity. First of all, the bashing. Good or bad? You know what people? Leave people the fuck alone. I dont slam you and get up in your face about laying off the bonbons because youre larger than the average planet devouring space horror, lay off the smokers a little bit. If theyre outside and near you...fuck it. Move. Theyre well within their rights to do what they want to do, its not your place to "censor" them (for lack of a better term.) If you cannot get away *AND* have the "right of way" so to speak (youre indoors and you were there first, youre in a non smoking area ect,) then ask them politely to stop, cause its bugging you. If theyre dicks about it, I'll give you my phone number. Call me and I'll come bust some heads. This is called ettiquitte and protocol. On the other hand....they do, in a way, have it coming. Smokers getting treated like dirt while theyre actively smoking is just the way things work. If they dont like it, they should quit, because its not really their place to complain about it. Its like me bitching at the guy at the burger place when he gets my order wrong. A: He got my order wrong. B: Even if it WASNT his fault...he's a fucking burger place guy. I dont feel at all bad for treating him like garbage because THATS HIS FUCKING JOB. It is in his job description to deal with irate and loudmouthed customers, thats why the hell they hire you. If you dont like it, quit, because you sure as hell knew it came with the territory when you took the job, and if you didnt youre an idiot and deserve to be scraped off my boot anyway. Its like a movie star getting mad because fans keep mobbing him for autographs. Hey smokers! You *KNEW* people were going to treat you like dirt the very first time you lit up! It is a part of your job description! If you dont like it....quit! This is called pattern recognition and logic. I guess thats enough for now. Lets see what happens! |

First of all...jeez what first of all? I still dont know where to start....Umm....Lets begin with the why. Why is sex sacred? What is special about it? The *ONLY* legitimate reason I have come across in this day and age are the religious ones. So unless youre religious then I REALLY dont know where youre coming from. If you ARE religious, then thats cool. Thats really cool. I dont bash on religion, as long as you dont try and actively force who YOU are onto who *I* am. Im mostly talking about christians and catholics ect here, no use trying to hide it, so Im going to just come out and mention the bible. Which does say all this stuff about abstinence and marriage and sacred bond. But it ALSO says that only God can change the hearts of men, and a lot of other stuff that most so-called "christians" have a tendancy to convinently overlook. Basically, if you wait to have sex till youre married because of your religious beliefs..thats cool. That is VERY cool. I respect that. But it is not your place to FORCE me to adhere to YOUR moral standards. I am not doing anything that has anything to do with you, so you have no say in the matter. Period. Thanks for respecting that. If youre NOT religious...then what the fuck is the matter with you? Why the hell cant I sleep with whoever strikes my fancy? These days we have enough protection that the possibility of any unwanted side effects are damn near nil unless youre an idiot, and its not secret that idiots just fuck everything up. I have yet to hear the logic that forms the basis of your argument. For that matter....I have yet to hear your argument. My argument is condoms and birth control. Whats yours? While I'm waiting for you to formulate said argument, please allow me to go ahead and tear one or two of them to shreds. Namely, the whole "it should be special" thing. ......why? We've already done the religion thing...I dont see how its all THAT different than a hug or a kiss. Apart from this sentence, just because I like to mess with all of you, lets skip the part about how you hug and kiss your parents and siblings because I know a lot of you are EXTRA weird about that kinda stuff...I'm going to skip everything and go straight to the "You shouldnt sleep with someone until youre married" argument, completely ignoring the fact that spiroth says "it's just wrong to sleep for someone without a genuine affection that will at least last a week after the act." but ALSO says "Even if its your GF/BF you shouldnt just sleep with them for that reason." as though people dont have genuine affection for their gf/bf. Which he would no doubt claim to be true, which I then call bullshit on seeing as how he has never been IN a relationship and thus lacks the personal expirence with which to pass judgement on people who ARE. Right. So whats wrong with having sex with the person I am currently involved with? Nothing. .......shit, that was easy o.O Not hard to rebutt a point that never had a true reason behind it to begin with I guess, huh? ^^0 And now the cleanup. "People these days put too much emphasis on that part of the relationship." Ok, I will conditionally agree with you on this. Sex should not be the centeral pillar in a relationship that is precieved on EITHER OR BOTH sides to be serious. That is NOT to say, however, that there is anything wrong with entering a relationship with someone for the exp "but thats not what Im referring to. these days about 45-80% (depending on where you live, and what type of school you attend) of the people (guys and girls) are dirty filthy whores." Bullshit. Ive already dismantled the majority of youre arguments. The only group I havent touched are the people who have sex with complete strangers at the drop of a hat, which you admittedly seem to think makes up a large majority of these people. And I call bullshit on that. While there ARE more people having premarital sex these days, and it is happening much younger, it is still largely within "serious" relationships (ie boyfriend and girlfriend who see each other as their only romantic interest.) The idea that the larger majority of highschoolers are having random sex with strangers is ludicris (spelling optional) and I must ask for your source before I even entertain this idea. And finally, my personal favourite, (I saved the best for last here, folks) "but the new generation (those in high school and below) are degrading themselves, and ruining all the work our grandparents and their's before them did to have a moral, hard working society." I must laugh in your face here. Hahaha. *ahem* Now then. First of all, "our parents and grandparents" are all full of shit. Their generations, in their own was, were just as fucked up if not more than our own. At least our generations "sins" are a result of exercising (spelling?) our freedoms instead of opressing someone elses. Our grandparents' generation was full of raciests, sexists, and bigots. If you didnt have a problem with black people you had a problem with women or gays or the japanese (which I can sometimes understand seeing as how you probably saw your best friend shot in the face by a japanse guy, so youre excused.) Our parents' generation brought a whole new meaning to the phrase "sexual opression." With african americans now protected under the constitution, who else can we beat bloody or rape while the courts turn a blind eye if not women in the workplace and gays? As for your whole "moral" shtick...all I have to say is that moral is subjective, not objective. Everyone has their own personal set of morals, and not unlike religion, have no place forcing their shit onto anybody else. I would go into more detail but I really could do an entire post on why "moral" as a standard for rule is largely a crock of shit and this is the cleanup so Im trying to keep it short. I'll just say once again that if it doesnt directly effect you or yours, leave me and mine alone. All that said...in OUR generation, people are largely free to be what they want to be, weather youre black and want to be a doctor or female and want to be a lawyer or male and want to be a female. | What are you doing to exercise?
Ive got this friend....cutest face ever but she's pretty fat. I once said we could maybe work out together or something, to which she replied something along the lines of "No, thats embarrassing. I plan on taking a class with other fat girls in sweats." The rest of us pretty much collectively slapped her for that one. News flash: If the program is full of fat people....IT DOESNT WORK. If it worked, it would be full of thin people. I refuse to believe that, were it truely effective, not ONE person who saw results wouldnt think to themselves "Hey! This really worked! I should keep doing it!" and stay on. The trick to exercise is doing stuff you never see fat people do. I personally prefer martial arts, because its way fun, rewarding, builds lots of confidence, and makes you less scared when you walk out to the car by yourself at night. Do some research, though. Some disceplines are more active than others (Wushu as opposed to, say...Judo or Akido) and some are more useful for actual combat than others (Jeet Kun Do as opposed to Wushu.) And some are just plain bad (beware of tai chi classes full of old people!) I've got another friend. She swims, and SWEARS by it. Now...if you dont have a pool, this can be both inconveniant and expensive, depending on your situation. However, I myself can vouch for her, saying that she swears by it with good reason. The girl gets RESULTS. Something like fifty or a hundred laps a day or something in the summertime (her pool is outdoors.) Sounds like a lot, but she says it only takes an hour or so once you get good at it. And, again....great results. You could get REALLY good at DDR and play all the hard songs for an hour a day =D Tear your feets up though XD Or you could play a sport. I like volleyball, myself, though that might not be active enough, and hard to find a partner enough people. Try something like squash or tennis maybe? Anyway, Im rambling. In closing, I just want to say that...really? Its ok to be big. The key is being HEALTHY. Thats whats attractive. Big people can be really hot if theyre healthy. The issue comes about because being FAT is unhealthy, and thats unattractive. So...yeah. *nods* Thats enough outta me. |

And you come to a message board to post your opinions on topics while disregarding and prematurely invalidating everyone elses without even first hearing what they have to say? Brilliant. Learning is the root of intelligence, people. If you kick out all the newbies who are willing to learn without giving them a chance to do so, you will find an extremely low influx of new talent. Your old talent will get stale, and at that point it is only a matter of time before the whole thing dies. Its like if we banned children because they cant do math, and we dont want to bother teaching them. The human race would inevitably die out. It might take a hundred years, but it WOULD happen. Thats the community. The mods have to do even MORE to help. Go through the archives now and again. Say once a month. Or maybe a page a week, starting from the oldest, and starting over when you get to the newest. Weed out the dead worthless threads, while keeping the good stuff. Good stuff INCLUDES bad hacks where good critisism is provided, so that the newbies might learn from them. Unless, of course, the exact same info is given in another thread. This results in a clean forum we can all enjoy. Send out some PMs to people who are getting out of hand, or who just arent listening. Insist on a reply of comprehension and complience. Hand out bans to dicks and people who just dont want to learn. Yeah, its a lot of work. Being a mod is. If you dont want to put in the work, step down and let someone who IS take over. Those last lines arent directed at anybody in particular, Im just saying being a mod is difficult. Not everyone can handle the load, and some who used to may have a new real life situation that does not allow enough time for managing such a populated board. Life happens. So, please. My great grandmother is going through something similer, though its not from cancer. I'm sure its much harder for you, than it is for me. I was never particularly close to my great grandmother, however she was always a source of great pride for me. Not only is she the last full blooded italian in our family, she actually came over from italy as a little girl. I've always thought that was awesome, and derived a lot of my...lets call it "pride by proxy" from her. She was moved to a home early last year. I hadnt seen her for a few years, but when she went to visit, she didnt really recognise me. She did...but she thought I was someone else. Someone who was in the room with us. That was hard for me. And then, just the other day, I lost a cousin around my age to leukemia. I havent seen any of our mutual family since he died, but he was always loved by everyone and I know theyre hurting right now. My heart goes out to them all. I dont think anyone is really to blame. Your grandfather probably started smoking way back in the day, before anybody, even the companies really knew whats actually IN tobacco and what happens to people who smoke it. Back then, it was cool. The thing to do. A mark of society and culture. Its not anybody elses fault any more than it is his. True, he should have quit when he learned exactly what they do to people, but I dont think he's really "to blame." You might blame him now, in your blind rage and sorrow over his condition, and you'd probably be well justified to do so. But I hope you dont let it distract you from making the best of the time you have left together, and Im confident that you'll make your peace and forgive him, in the end. The point is that there are people there who love you to help you through the rough times, and even here there are people who understand what youre going through, and you know what? There always will be. Thats something that can be easy to lose track of. |

Nobody makes fun of you at my school if you're a virgin. Nobody really cares about anyone but themself. Then again, I don't hang out with the kind of people that party and sleep around every Saturday night, so maybe it's just the people I surround myself with that keep me out of the "omg virgin how lame" group.
