O_o How come I haven't heard any of this? Is it proven, or another one of those conspiracy theories?

Anyway, I can't see that genetically altered plants can help world hunger. Most of the farmland is already taken up and the world does produce enough, but unless these altered plants were grown in like labs for 1/10th the time it takes to grow it normally, i'd say no.

Metroid: Final Repercussions

Chapter 1
"Any objections, Lady?"

"My name is Samus Aran. My occupation is a bounty hunter for the Galactic Federation. I am recording this autobiography of my life and latest adventures because I am not sure if I will be around to conduct any more. When I last fought the vicious gelatinous X parasites on Biologic's Research Station, I was being used as a tool for the Federation. However, going back to the beginning, I had earned my reputation with the Galactic Federation for eliminating the nuisance of the Space Pirates, and their leader, Mother Brain, who had controlled the life-energy sucking parasites. Metroids can literally take the life out of any creature they want to feed on, turning the victim into nothing but a dust statue. After eliminating the Space Pirates and Mother Brain on Planet Zebes, I had turned to the Metroid's homeworld of SR388, destroying every last one. However, as it turns out, I came upon the last stock of Metroid eggs on the return path to my ship. When the Metroid Larvae hatched, it followed me like a confused child, assuming I was its mother. The Galactic Federation got wind of this supposedly 'tame' Metroid, and had asked that I deliver it to their research labs. I had barely gone beyond the asteroid belt surrounding the Ceres Research Colony when I got a distress call, signaling that they were under attack! It was there that I came to realize that Ridley, second in command to the Space Pirates, had stolen the Metroid hatchling, and taken it back to Planet Zebes. Furious with this, I tracked him down, and eliminated not only the dragon himself, but a reincarnated Mother Brain. During the fight with the gigantic resurrected organ, the Metroid Hatchling, now a full grown Metroid, had sacrificed itself to help me finish Mother Brain once and for all. Noting its noble sacrifice, I crushed Mother Brain once again, and realized that Planet Zebes was tearing itself apart. Escaping from such a disaster, I was asked to look over Biologic's research team on SR388, to collect data samples from the remaining life forms the Metroids didn't wipe out. It was there that I was attacked by a life form I did not encounter on my previous visit to the Metroid homeworld. The X Parasite can rapidly reproduce, killing the host body, once its infected, and it gains the knowledge and ability to impersonate the host. I myself was nearly killed by the X, until it came to light that someone had developed an antidote to destroy the X. The serum was created from a Metroid cell culture that the Federation had preserved from the last hatchling. As the X had already rapidly reproduced within me, also infecting the nervous system, I was rendered unconscious, and parts of my Chozo Power Suit had to be surgically removed, dramatically altering my physical appearance. The metroid vaccine was injected without delay. It worked quickly and effectively, destroying the entire X in my system. It also affected my DNA makeup. I would never be infected by the X again. This also leaves me vulnerable to cold, a common weakness Metroids have. After destroying the X on biologic's research station, I came to realize I was now an outlaw, having also destroyed the Federation's illiegal Metroid breeding program.
They also regarded the X as fascinating, but knowing that if they actually boarded the station, the X would destroy them, I set the station to self destruct and piloted it into a collision course with SR388, completely eradicating the Metroids and X. I am now on the lookout for any surviving Chozo. As the nomadic aliens had raised me and granted me with a power suit of incredible power, so had the Space Pirates sought to wipe them out. I seek to find out more about these people, as I remember very little."

As Samus stepped away from the computer console of her ship, Adam Malkovich, the personality of the spaceship, came online and projected a hologram of him. Wearing spectacles, short, blond hair and brown eyes, he was Samus' former Commanding Officer back when she was battling the Space Pirates on Zebes. After Ridley had destroyed his base and him along with it, the Federation created a synthetic personality with all of his memories and uploaded it into Samus' ship.

"Hello, Adam." Greeted Samus as she sat down in the pilots seat, riddled with weariness and exhaustion. The previous days of Biologic's station had taken a lot out of her.

"Hello, lady." To Samus, from anyone else, lady would have been sarcastic, but Adam made it sound dignified. "Are you all right?"
"No, I'm not, Adam. Running from the Federation is nothing I'm used to."
"I understand. Why don't you go take a rest? I'll keep an eye on the radar for incoming Federation ships."
"Thanks, I think I'll do that." Samus smiled weakly. Tapping a button on her right arm, her power suit seems to turn digital, then the suit itself was sucked into her wristwatch as if it were a vortex. "This gadget is handy; I can activate or deactivate my power suit at any time." She muttered to herself as she flopped down on the ship's bed. She fell asleep almost immediately.

Samus found herself in a blackened power suit...Except something was odd, it wasn't blackened from a blast, it was colored black...lowering on an elevator into a huge crater-like structure...Metroids everywhere...A huge beast...Fighting to stay alive against the creature's inner body...an arm like her own forming out of the defeated beast's body...A flash...Warning sirens, but where...Someone speaking but what are they saying...growing louder...

"Lady, wake up, we've got trouble. Samus. Samus!"
Samus jumped up from the bed in a start. She was suddenly hot and sweaty.
"Wh-What happened to that creature..." She said, somewhat detached from reality.
"Samus, snap out of your bad dreams, we've got major problems here." Adam said strictly.
"What, Adam?" Samus said, touching the Chozo bracelet on her arm, singalling it to activate, her suit swept over her once more. As the suit's systems came online, she saw in her visor a warning from the ship's uplink. "Oh this isn't good."
"No, it isn't. No less than five Federation battleships have dropped out of hyperdrive and are taking an aggressive stance against our position. I suggest we open communications to them to buy us time. Any objections, Lady?"

A work in progress fanfic i've had stuck in my head for a long time, more chapters to follow hopefully. I also hope I posted this in the right place.

Recently, Monsato (A huge MNC, that made Agent Orange) had a hormone additive that allows cows to produce more milk. This is insane in the first place because there is a world wide excess of milk. However, the hormone was still put on the market without adequate health testing. The additive caused horrible suffering for the cattle. A side effect of the hormone was an illness that could cause the cow to pass on puss and birth fluids into the milk, making it highly dangerous to consume. Even worse, some studies linked the hormone additive passing into milk, possibly causing cancer. Two local Fox News station reporters investigated the story of Monsanto's hormone additive. However, both Fox and Monsanto tried to "lessen the blow" by straight out falsifying the news report and bribing the journalists to do so. In what should have been a landmark case, the reporters sued Fox News and Monsanto for attempts to falsify news that relates to human harm. At first the reporters won on the grounds that falsifying news was illegal. However, an appeal proved it to be legal to do so. It also dis-credited the story under Food Disparagement laws, which makes it illegal to question the safety of staple food products. These laws are absurd and unjust.

What in the hell? Why do people do things like this when it so morally wrong? That's abyssmally retarded beyond the normal greed level, if they still go ahead and do this. I still don't get why people supposedly tell farmers not to grow crops just to drive prices up. This kind of thing makes my head spin.

Chapter 2
Sitting tight

"Incoming transmission from the lead ship, displaying on screen." Adam announced.
And with that, the image of deep space was replaced with a view of the battleship squad's captain.
"Fleet Admiral Nacherov." Samus greeted, acid in her tone.
"Samus Aran," Replied Nacherov. "You are ordered by the Galactic Federation to stand down, and turn yourself in."
"Over my dead body. Not after what you and the rest of the Fed Board decided to do. Countless lives could have been lost had I not interveined."
Silence followed between the two.

Fleet Admiral Avexi Nacherov, my old piloting instructor who I used to despise. I see that he hasn't changed at all since I left for Zebes. Not only would I not turn myself in for anyone in the federation, but especially not him. Hell, if anyone else was around, i'd do it for them just to spite him... Thought Samus, Looks like we're going to have to do this the hard way.

Samus resumed the talk, "Alright, Avexi, here's what i'm doing, and neither you nor your lackeys can stop me. If you dare to try to board my ship via transporters or any other means, said borders will be dead within seconds."
Nacherov laughed, a cold bitter laugh. "I see you haven't changed in your aggressive statue, Samus. That threat doesn't give me pause. I have five of my ships trained on yours, ready to fire at a word. I highly suggest you don't try to excape."

At this, Samus punched in a few keys on the console that were out of view of Nacherov's monitor, signalling Adam to get ready to fire the hyperdrive.

"Alexi, you weren't very bright were you, from the start you've always thotght you've had the upper hand," At this, Nacherov tensed, sensing something was going to happen, "This ends here." Hitting a key, the transmission cut off, and Adam engaged the hyperdrive, rocketing the ship out of range of the battleships' lasers, which prompty fired on the spot where her ship had been seconds before. Something happened though, warning lights went off, and an alert sound started blaring.

"What's going o-" Samus began in frustration, when all went white. She felt the outside shell of her suit begin to compress, the result of a loss of air compression. She saw the console of her ship melt away to the dark reaches of outer space. All went dark.

When Samus woke up, she was in her quarters' bed, except it wasn't on her ship...Rising up with incredible speed, taking a look around, she saw the room was mostly empty. A few flower vases by the window, a bedside teble with a light. She also noticed that her suit wasn't activated, and seeing guards by the door exiting the room, she instictively realised that she had been captured during the ship's explosion. Reaching for her chozo bracelet and pulling her right arm in a direct line to fire at the guards when the suit matrialised, she realised she didn't have her bracelt anymore!

The guards simply kept staring through faceless security helmets of the Galactic Federation. One of them went to a nearby comm panel.

"Admiral, she's awake."
"Excellent, i'll be right down." Said the electronic voice, but easily recogniseable, and what Samus heard sent chills down her spine. This wasn't good. All she could do is devise a plan to get out of here, after all, she made it past the space pirates without a suit once. But until the opportunity presented itself, she had to sit tight, and wait for Nacherov to walk in the door.

Quote from my email to tech support on blizzard, since I thought you all could help me while I wait basically a full day for them to get back in their offices and mail me back.

Hello Blizzard,

Recently i've been experiencing a problem playing on-line or even over a lan with my dialup connection. I recently applied the 1.13 patch, and the following occurs every time without fail.
Any time in-game the dialouge for "Waiting for players" appears, usually within seconds, or 3 minutes. and as it reaches the final few, the actual dialup connection I have disconnects entirely, saying the link to my provider failed. This is only happening with Starcraft. One other thing, all 1on1 games work, and do not disconnect me, but with more than one player it's very likely. It might have something to do with the number of player controlled units being ordered around that could be overloading my dialup. But this hasn't happened before...So any advice you can offer at this point would be appreciated.
