The longest I've gone without a computer would have to be about a week, although that happened several times in the past. See, our parents used to enforce this rule where every other week, we were allowed to use the computer / watch TV / play videogames as much as we wanted, but any of the other weeks, we had to bring home schoolwork that we got 80% or higher on, and for every piece of work shown, we were given an hour to do whatever we wanted, up to a max. of four hours

After that, back in 2002 or so, our old computer simply stopped working, right out of the blue. I couldn't format it or anything, so we took what parts were salvagable, and set out to get a new computer. It took exactly one week for that new one to be brought home, but even then, my friend ended up staying at our house for the whole entire week, and had his XBOX with him, so coupled with that, Gamecube, and TV, there was plenty to keep us busy

That's not even mentioning that about half the time we did have a computer, we had no internet connection to it

In short though, one week is the longest I've gone without using my computer, and although there's the option for that amount of time to get longer, I don't want it to

Nice work I gave Heavy Mario a couple tries, and the best I can manage to get right now is three Greats away from an AAA Anyways, I'll let the screenshots speak for themselves, as usual:

:: Emerald Sword; Heavy
:: Heavy Mario; Heavy
:: Sensual Data; Challenge
:: The Struggle to Survive; Challenge
:: Trip Machine Survivor Megamix; Challenge

I'm quite proud of Emerald Sword, seeing as the readme for it says "This is f***g crazy. It's got many long 16th runs that really drain stamina." The only problem with that is that the readme also lists the title of the song as being "Holy Thunderforce". That may just be a mistake though, as the description of the song varies between the two on Bemanistyle.

I just downloaded that song, by the same simfile author, and here's my result for it:

:: Holy Thunderforce; Heavy

Better than Emerald Sword, and a bit harder too

Anyways, I'm going to end that off there for now, as I'm going to go find more simfiles made to Rhapsody's songs right now, as the ones I've listened to so far seem like they'd lend themselves nicely to at least an 11 or 12. Well, except for Lamento Eroico. That'd pretty much be all hold arrows

asdf: If you're using uo_snes9x, set the clock speed to 333mHz, and the frameskip to 4 (you can access the menu by slidingd the analog stick to the left). That works like a charm for me, but it drains your battery a lot faster, and it can be a bit choppy, seeing as the frameskip is as high as it is. If you're using a different emulator, just look through the menus for options to change the clock speed and frameskip

As for the topic at hand, let's see. Getting last Thursday off work is one that comes to mind As well, finding out that I'm getting two days in a row off in the coming week.

Other than work though, buying a GBA Micro so I no longer have to put up with my SP's horrible screen (there's dead pixels all about it, as well as plenty of other small foreign objects that somehow managed to get in there), having company over just earlier today for supper

Unfortunately though, I have to leave for work right now (yes, midnight), but that's another thing that's pretty good. I'm only scheduled for a 4 hour shift tonight, which is half what I normally work. Yay

I can't see a keyboard going for any more than $20, unless you want a really fancy one

Last time a new keyboard was needed for this computer, it cost about $20, but I'm sure we could've found one for less. That's not a worry now though, as there are two keyboards that get used for this computer (the one I'm using to type this usually only gets used for playing StepMania or FlashFlashRevolution), then there are still three more in the little storage area of the cabinet that my Dad found on the side of the road (not the cabinet itslef - the keyboards) I don't care where he got them, as long as they work

Last time I spilled anything on a keyboard, it was apple cider at a friend of my parents' house. All I remember was that pressing keys simply made the computer beep, and, fearing that I'd ruined the whole thing, I ran down to the basement and hid in the crawlspace Someone came down a couple minutes after me, wanting to see if I'd lost any money (a $2 bill (yes, this happened back when there were such things)), but fortunately didn't say anything about the computer.

Anyways, have fun with your sort of working keyboard. You could always use the onscreen keyboard (and it seems you already have), but where's the fun in that?

Can you actually hear the song playing, or does the progress indicator just skip ahead to the end of the song? I know that's happened to me in the past, and the cause of it was me forgetting to disable the Diskwriter plugin, so each and every time I tried to play a song, it'd end up converting it to the specifications I had set, and saving it to the hard drive

Open the Preferences window, and click "Output" under Plugins. Make sure "DirectSound output" is selected (and even if it is, click it anyways), close the window, and try playing a song again.

That's about the only thing I can think of that would be causing that problem, so outside of that, the only other thing I can really think of to recommend would be to completely uninstall Winamp, and reinstall it again

That's good to know, but there's one other thing you should do now. Find the directory that the songs were written to (I'm pretty sure the default is c:\, but select the Diskwriter plugin, and click "Configure" to make sure, but don't forget to change the plugin back afterwards), and open it. Chances are all the songs you tried to play in between having the problem and creating this thread are saved there, and unless you really want to keep them for some reason, they can be deleted.

Otherwise they're pretty much useless files taking up space on your hard drive

Agreed. I did the same thing, and put them on my PSP's memory stick, then went searching some more and found another torrent with albums that weren't in the other one, as well as some albums by a "Luca Turilli". Half the songs are either .wma or .mpc files, so some converting is going to be necessary first

What's your favorite song, out of all of their albums? Mine would have to be either Lamento Eroico (either the live or regular version) or Holy Thunderforce. The live version of Emerald Sword is alright, but it really seems like it's missing something if "Gran Finale" isn't right after it in the playlist i ended up looking up the lyrics for Lamento Eroico, so now I constantly find myself singing to it at work, and worry that someone else might hear me singing in whatever language it is

Nice work on your scores as well. I can't help but feel horribly bad at StepMania looking at them, but then again, you play spread as opposed to me with three fingers

As for you, cpubasic, good luck with Emerald Sword whenever you do end up getting a chance to download it. It's sort of like Hiryuu's (or Minnowia's - whichever you prefer) Super Shooter (if you've gotten that one from Bemanistyle), except it's a good bit faster, and has more 16th runs as well. Nothing extremely difficult, but it may take a bit of practice first.

Anyways, see the time? Yeah, 5 in the morning It's time I went to bed

Is it just me, or has the board seemed to speed up quite a bit more (in terms of loading time) now that Log Size counter has disappeared?

Anyways, the red was rather annoying, but nothing too bad. It was just strange to log back onto the board this morning, and see everything outlined in red After the initial curiosity as to what was going on (looking for new announcements and such), it simply becomes something you have no choice in seeing whatsoever. It's obviously gone now though, which is definitely a good thing.

Interestingly enough, while in newreply.php (and possibly elsewhere), the Color Chart link at the top of the page points to "http://board.acmlm.org/newreply.php?id=reply number here" That could very well be a bug, but it's still strange, seeing as the error messages posted earlier in this thread both involved colors.php, as did the code that sent the old board to it's doom (look here if you don't know what I'm talking about). The only thing out of the ordinary with it from here is a missing close bracket (I can't remember the proper name right now), in this line: <.td class='tbl tdbg1 font center'.

I'd like to think there's not a connection between that and what's going on now, and given what Kyoufu Kawa posted, it doesn't look like it, so I'll leave it at that for now

I don't know how to really describe them, but you can mount them using either Alcohol 52 or 120%, then interact with them just as if a CD was loaded in your CD drive. Basically, the bigger file (I'm pretty sure it's the one with .mds as the extension) is an image of the CD, and the .mdf file is used to mount the image.

So, to answer your question, the "emulator" for those files is either Alcohol 52 or 120% (or any other CD image mounting program you prefer). From there, just treat them as if they were a CD inserted in the drive.

Hopefully that helps

Right now, I'd say your best bet would be to simply tell this girl how you're feeling, and Myspace may or may not be a good choice for that. See, I've never bothered with the site, so I don't know whether it's possible to have private conversations with people there, or if everything done at the site is open to any random person that happens to view what you wrote. It'd make sense that the former is possible, but once again, I don't know whether it is or not.

Barring that, have you given any thought to actually face-to-face talking to her about what's going on? If that's to difficult (and given what you said about being an introvert, it very well could be), give some thought about writing her a note about how you're feeling and such. It doesn't have to be anything really fancy. Just tell her how you're feeling. That way, you'll have plenty of time to make sure you've written / typed everything you wanted to say, and you'll also be able to avoid the whole "I don't know how to say what I want to say" feeling of actually having to talk to her.

Back when I was new to my job, and desperately wanted to quit, I had a couple "resignation letters" typed up, and had planned full well to leave one on the general manager's desk one night, but I couldn't bring myself to do it, because my friend was the night manager for that night, and once he saw the letter, he'd have assumed responsibility and would've never let me hear the end of it. The point being, it's alot easier to write or type your thoughts and feelings down onto a piece of paper, and then give them to the person they concern, even though it may not seem like it.

Even if something happens and the letter never makes it to her, you'll feel at least a bit better from actually having gotten how you feel out in the open.

Consider this scenario: you go into work tonight, and see the girl you're talking about suddenly hanging around with someone else. You work up the nerve to walk up to them and ask what's going on, and get told off for being too weak and such to have said anything before. How would you feel if that were to happen? A whole lot worse than before, I'm willing to bet.

The longer you wait to say anything to her about how to feel, the more likely the chances are of something to happen that'll turn the tables on what's going on between the both of you.

I'm not trying to scare you into making any sudden decisions or anything, but it's just something to think about. Ultimately, the choice of what to do is up to you, but if I was in your position, I'd consider writing her a letter of some sort before it's too late.

It's in your hands though

You're quite right with what you said. Maybe the two of you will turn out to be "incompatible", but the thing is, even if it comes to that, at least you'll know you tried and did what you could. If you were to write her a note, end up talking to her eventually, and find out that you really have no mutual interests, or that she considers you to be, as you said "dry", that's not the end of it. This line seems horrifyingly cliche, but anyways, there are other fish in the sea. If things end up not working out with this girl, it doesn't mean you're doomed to live the rest of your life without anyone to love and care for.

In short, if things don't work out with this girl, it doesn't mean you've lost your only chance at loving and caring about someone.

When it comes to the pressure you'd have to deal with afterwards, don't worry about that right now. Take things one step at a time. If you look at things in an everytning-at-once perspective, you'll likely scare yourself out of doing anything at all before you even start.

As for what you said about having nothing to lose, right now, that's pretty much what it seems like. The only thing that'll happen if you don't take any sort of action as to the way you're feeling right now is that things'll continue exactly as they are, except that if things get bad enough (in terms of your negative attitude at work), you could find yourself out of a job, which is, in my opinion, a whole lot worse than simply having a hard time figuring out what to do about how you're feeling.

Finally, what you said about "What is it about me that she could possibly like?". I don't know. You don't know. Nobody else in the world would know except her. The only way to find out what she thinks of you is to ask her yourself. Either that, or you could get a trusted friend to initiate things for you. The only problem with that idea is that you need to be sure the person you're making the request of will respect your privacy. If not, you could end up far worse off than you were before.

So basically, as you said yourself, there's really nothing to lose at this point.

The only thing that may throw a snag into everything is your workplace's policy towards employee relationships themselves. Once again, I'm not trying to be mean by mentioning that, but it's something you'll have to take into consideration. It'd be horrible if you finally got this girl to notice you, and found out you couldn't do anything further without risking your employment. It sucks, but you'll have to find out what your employer's views are on that subject first.

If things were to work out between you and this girl, you could very well agree to have a relationship outside of work, and act professional while at your job, or you could ask the person(s) that make the schedule to give you shifts where you won't both be working at the same time, so complications won't arise.

Anyways, listen to me. Here I tell you to take things one step at a time, and yet I can't follow that rule myself

I'd worry about the possibility of writing her a letter right now, and not give a second thought to anything after that quite yet.

Once again, it's your choice though, so don't let anything / anyone influence you as to what you actually do. We can give you the ideas, but it's your choice whether to act on those or not

I have no intent to click the link, but now I'm worried my brother or sister will click it when I go to bed tonight I've already tried fiddling around with Platypus (the lololol extension) to make the link point somewhere else, which is easy enough, but I don't want to risk clicking it to see if the changes actually worked

I feel sort of sorry for the people that clicked the link without realizing what it would do, but seriously, it'd make sense that, when you see a suspicious link, to check what the status bar says on mouseover, and in this case, I think the "banme" bit of it is warning enough

To my understanding, one of the levels that area is covered with a ceiling of blocks, with one space left empty. Using a cloud, you can float up through that space (or you could do it with a code), and (presumably) run over to the right, where you'll eventually fall down, and see blocks or something similar that spell "SMA 2". Note that some of that, or all of it could be wrong. I'm just going by what I remember reading in another thread some time ago, and before you ask, no, I haven't yet been able to find that thread again

Interestingly enough, you can access the following message box text in Crystal Secret, with the message box one of the brown question mark boxes gives you. The text for each is as follows:

As far as anyone currently knows though, FuSoYa is the only person who knows exactly what's going on with Lunar Magic and Super Mario Advance 2

Hopefully that helps you with the second question

Quoted from the guide for the game I got from GameFAQs:

"Well... the problem actually lies in how you get to the vine. When you load Wario Land 3 with an emulator (I don't condone piracy!), make sure you DON'T load a saved state (such as a No$GMB .sta file or a Smygb .mgb file or a Rew .st# file), which means DON'T go to the emulator's menu and choose load state or snapshot. Instead, just let the game get to the title screen, and from there, choose Continue. After that, just make your way to the Pool of Rain and you should be able to climb up the vine. This glitch may be present in other stages, but so far the only one I've confirmed is N1 Out of the Woods (you won't be able to climb a ladder inside the tree)."

I ran into the same problem with the game a while back, and the above solution worked perfectly

If I remember correctly, there's a secret exit quite high above the Water Secret mushroom house. It may take a bit of work to get up there, but at the top, there's either a key and lock, or one of the level-end objects, that, once you use, will send you to the pipe next to that mushroom house on the world map. As for where that pipe goes, well, it should be obvious enough

You're misunderstanding See, when you install Alcohol, Daemon Tools, or whatever program of that sort that you choose, it'll create a virtual CD drive (if that's the proper way to describe it). From there, you can use the .mdf and .mds files in conjuction with your program of choice to trick the computer into thinking there's a CD inserted in the virtual drive, that CD being your .mdf or .mds file.

Try reading here, if that's still confusing (and it sort of seems like it), and if that doesn't work, well, we can always give you a step-by-step set of instructions as to what needs to be done with those files

Well, from here, you can either try to run the game in your emulator of choice, and if you want to do that, look through the menus for a "Load CD" function of sorts. However, as we've already covered, most current PS2 emulators aren't able to play commercial games properly, so it may just be better to burn the game.

I was able to find something that says DVD Decrypter works well for the types of files you have, provided it's in "ISO WRITE" mode, but apparently Alcohol 120% is designed to be used to burn those filetypes, so it might be worth it to do a bit of research of your own, just so you don't go out, buy a blank DVD, and burn the game to it, only to find that you missed a step that's crucial to having the game work properly

Hopefully you don't mind links now, as I just found a quick tutorial on burning those filetypes using Alcohol 120%, that seems to be geared specifically towards PS2. It can be found here

That sounds like it'd work without problems, but you're going to have to give it a try for yourself to see I would, but I don't have a DVD burner

Sorry for dragging you through all the trouble of getting the image mounted, even though it's likely not going to be needed in the end

I don't know whether putting that file there is really allowed, but it's only going to be availabe there for a week, so get it while you can

Another way to get it would be to go to filemirrors.com, and fiddle with the searching options there

Well, I copied them directly from the game By that I mean I played through the game with a code enabled that set it so that the message box was always the item you had in reserve, and simply used it in each level, and copied the text down into Notepad as I went. If you read the tooltip text for the message box sprite in Lunar Magic, you'd know that (and I quote) "...will display one of two messages depending on it's X position". So given that, you can access both message box messages simply by moving to the right or left one square before using it again. Hopefully that isn't too confusing.

Anyways, check the attachment for the list.

There are some that aren't in the proper order (as in, b should logically come before a), and that some of them only have one message box (and all those levels either had only one bit of text set, or both positions displayed the same text), but those are about the only things I can really think of that should be pointed out.

For some reason, I can't help but have the feeling that this is a couple text boxes short of being fully complete I know last time I touched it I added the Pipe Star World text in, but that was 4 months short of two years ago

Nothing particularly fun or useful, but you wanted it, so now you've got it
