Okay... I'm a newb with ExGFX, so maybe somebody can help me... I tried asking this before the board got reset but when it reset... well you get my point... I'm looking for a rip of the background in Yoshi's Island used in the forts... Would anybody mind getting that for me? Thanks...

"Ummm... a bit more precise, please. There were many forts and many different backgrounds for each section of the fort.
Tell me the level, and I can try to get it for you... or at least attempt to try... I am not the best (or most patient) ripper..." Sorry... Heh... It could be either from Burt the Bashful's Fort or Bigger Boo's Fort... Those levels have the one I want... |

I've had this problem myself... What I did was I went through the tile pixel by pixel and move them over juuuuust enough to align them in the game... Kind of a guess and check thing... I was a noob back then; but I haven't experience this problem in my new hacks... (I haven't changed Rex for a while...) Umm... I don't know about two pixels off though... I mean look:
Here's a screenshot from Lunar Magic... The top frame isn't in line with the body... You're gonna have to move it over to the left manually... Sorry... That's what I had to do... (about 4 pixels should do it... at least I think...) (edited by JJokerDude on 01-19-06 05:22 PM) |

Okay, I'm no newbie to SMW hacking... But I've never actually bothered to solve this problem. Whenever I make a hack that involves large enemy sprites (Banzai Bill, Big Boo, etc) Mario disappears. Normally this isn't a problem... I just ignore it... But now I'm making a serious hack and this problem has to be solved. So, let me cut to the chase...
What are some reasons that this may be happening? Seriously... This is agitating. Thanks. *EDIT: Oh, and by the way... It's the only sprite for like... 20 screens, so don't tell me to take out some sprites. **EDIT: Ugh... Never mind I solved it... Forget I ever posted this... Just wondering... Erm... I can't seem to find the bone that Dry Bones throws on the sprite list... I know it should be a sprite, since it's something that is being thrown... But I can't find it... A little help, please?

Well... Actually I meant I wanted to change the sprites properties in MWR... In order to do that I need to know which number the sprite is, so I checked in LM... Couldn't find it there... And I can't find allgfx.bin... AARRRRRRRGGGGHHH...

I'm working on a hack where you play as Luigi. Everything is going great... Except every now and then he... Well... He keeps sticking his leg out as if kicking something. Whether walking, jumping, or just plain staying still, his sprite remains. Whenever this occurs (pretty much at random) sprites around him start messing up as if it's using a lot of data... Can somebody help me fix this, please? (edited by JJokerDude on 04-23-06 06:34 PM) (edited by JJokerDude on 04-23-06 06:36 PM) |

Actually... I ripped them from Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World, and since the tiles were in the exact same places for both games, I just copied them in Tile Layer Pro... But okay, I'll try that...
*EDIT: Dammit, it didn't work... It has nothing to do with his actions... When it's not messed up it works fine... Maybe it's something else? (edited by JJokerDude on 04-23-06 07:14 PM) |

Sorry for posting another "seemingly newb-like" question but... Well... I'm not a very advanced hacker heh heh...
Alright... So my idea is to create a sort of relay race "mini-game" for my hack, where you need 2 Players. The object is to cooperate and finish stage under 100 seconds while taking turns. This is possible with the help of the Mario Block and the Luigi Block. (If anybody likes this idea... Go right ahead and use it... Unless somebody already beat me to it... Oh well... Anyway...) Just imagine that the highlighted blocks are invisible. They are for people who think they're 1337 enough to jump over the flags and think "Ha ha... I don't have to switch players." Trouble is, however, they're always solid blocks for me... Is there a way to make them change you and let you pass? |

The only way you'll learn to do it on your own is to... Well... Not do beg others to do it lol. (C'mon... Even I was hackin' roms at age 13... Yeah they sucked though hahahah...)
But Cjuarez, just keep practicing. The only way to not be a newb at something is to get better at it... And sending it to somebody else won't help. Seriously, my hacks used to SUCK. Now they just... Suck less heheheh. And about your parents; tell them its a SMW Hack Emergency. They'll understand. |

Uh... I have an idea too.
I'm not saying it's a good idea though, because you already did a great job on Yoshi... But remember in the SMAS version of SMB3, how in one castle one of the kings was turned into a Yoshi? Well it resembled that of SMW2's Yoshi. My point is... If you're gonna make it more SMAS-ish... Why not modernize Yoshi a bit to look like SMW2? Like... Take a SMW2 Yoshi, modify it a bit so it would fit into the blocks used for Yoshi in SMW, and insert it (diagram below). 1.) SMW2 Yoshi 2.) Modified 8x8 Tiles 3.) New Yoshi sprite 4.) New palettes 5.) Other 8x8 Tiles - Running, idle (blinking instead of opening mouth) Yeah... Probably a lame idea... I know... Just a suggestion |

Okay lol. (And I saw Icegoom's Yoshis... They looked good, but I'm sure they wouldn't fit in either... Let's keep it classic.)

Yes... Much easier to use than MWR! Can't wait to see it when it's finished! (Sweeeeeeeeeet...)

I was messing around with the tweaker and sort of messed up my shell-less koopas. (I didn't actually change the Koopas... They were fine until I modified a few other enemies... I checked the game and for some reason the Koopas wouldn't move...) While this may be a cool effect to use in a hack, I certainly don't want it in this one lol...
Um... A little help, please? |

Heh... Sorry. I'm pretty sure I modified spiny and bob-omb to attempt jumping into a shell. I might have also modified Big Boo Boss to be beatable after being hit by 5 fireballs. What could these possibly have to do with the koopas, though?
And yes... I should have made a backup. I have one, but its not so recent; I'd lose quite a lot of data, but I might have to do that. My bad... (I didn't modify any other koopas besides blue and green shell-less, but for some reason red and yellow shell-less are also affected.) |

Alright... Problem solved. Lesson learned - We make backups for a reason.

Heh... I'm workin' a graphics hack. While a lot of you are using SMAS graphics for their hacks, I'll be faaaaaar more classic...
I'm talking old-school SMB graphics! Sure, it's not very original; but holy crap it's comin' along great! So far, I've only edited some of Mario/Luigi's graphics and palettes. The rest of the graphics should be pretty easy, though! So... Tell me what you think! Am I wasting time or should I finish this like others before me haven't? |
|||

Yes... I'm pretty sure there were a few, but the last one I remember playing only had a few levels changed and only a few sprites and objects changed. And yes, there's practically been no progress whatsoever lol... It shouldn't take TOO long... Then again I'm not necessarily the most reliable when it comes to working on anything for more than a week. Heh, don't worry, though...
However, I might need a little help if I want to get his ASM code at least close to the original Mario's... Hahhah that's if anybody's bored enough. And as for not liking NES graphics... Heheh who wants to look at 8-bit graphics when they can see higher detailed, sexier 16-bit ones? This is just a tribute to the classic game lol... That's all. Well... I'm gonna go work on some more now. |
