No, I've read it before:
|
"Tetris (GB) contains a little-known undocumented 'feature' -- the game keeps track of how many times you rotate each piece, thinking that the more you rotate it, the more problems you have with it, and then gives those pieces out more often. Of course, you can turn this to your advantage by simply rotating all the long pieces as much as possible before dropping them." (of course, that isn't this game) (restricted) |

Well, it was mostly just to see if it would matter -- truthfully we don't have much of a need for it right now, heh.
|
Of course, if we ever did need one, we could always stick it to the right of the board.

I'd rather see games in the style of back then. See also: Link's Awakening, Oracle Series.

If it's anything like "Minish Cap" (which sucked)... ugh. (restricted) |

YY-CHR has a feature that auto-aligns tiles for you in certain pre-set ways. I suggest using it, especially if you're a newbie. |

1.92: Doesn't use $root or other "here's a big handout of exploit juice" variables, still full of exploits, generally the same coding style (which still isn't that good, but whatever)
|
-> A branch 1.A3: uses $root but tries to make it defined right, certain scripts broken/not working properly, schemes not working right either, absoloute barf of about 5 coding styles from 4 people -> 9 branch 1.92.9: Most exploits fixed (there's still one, but I don't know where it is so I can't do anything... generally only 2 coding styles, one of which (mine) is considerably more readable, some old code improved and reformatted, etc I have a copy of 1.92.08 laying around (hint: my version numbers are arbitrary) if anyone wants it, since I suppose I can just re-check the RAR and make it distributable, if I can remember whatever it is I left out.

Originally posted by Squash Monster I had my Horeshoes, 4-leaf clovers, and other lucky objects around... Kidding. But it was 50% luck, I'll admit to that.

Xkeeper presents:
|
Lesson 1: Everything you know is wrong. No, really. - In the original game, your goal was to build up a tower and clear 4 lines at once. This is not your goal. - In the original game, your secondary goal was to stay alive as long as possible. This comes secondary because as the game progressed, it became harder to score big points, so you wanted to get those early (and would generally do stupid things for them). This -is- your goal. You want to last as long as possible. Forget setting up multiple clears -- if an oppertunity to clear lines presents itself, TAKE IT! Obviously, setting up an easy line clear is always good -- just don't go out of your way to make more than one, since it's very easy to screw up and be out one, two, three, four, even six or seven rows because you coudln't get the right piece or the right piece wasn't. That 3000 point tetris at level 1 looks tempting, but don't -- single lines are worth that much later in the game, and you have no control over how fast the point values rise -- just stay alive and you'll score huge points. Lesson 2: Do things before you can do things. Right. Holding the rotate buttons will rotate the piece before you get it -- if you're holding the clockwise button when the piece drops, it'll have been rotated when it drops (note: this doens't mean you can rotate it multiple times -- see below.) ... this also applies to left-right: holding one before a piece drops will move it to the left or right one when it drops, which could give you that critical edge. However, there's an undocumented 'feature' -- holding BOTH rotate buttons when a piece drops will cause it to be rotated TWICE... so you can access all 4 rotations with only one rotation, before a piece even drops. Lesson 3: Stack building for dummies. There are several ways to build your stack here, though the best ones usually involve not having any dips from the center out -- you want your tower to be in the middle, so that there's a rough /\, without any stupid dimples in it (e.g: ....[] []..[] [][][]) or falling pieces WILL get caught on them and you will be screwed. Lesson 4: Jam. Turn the fucking music up to max volume and RAWK OUT~! (really, it helps)

- Counter fixed. Now it works right if it should be reading '1' (it wasn't earlier, so I had no idea someone submitted something)
|
Sadly, the RHA theme is falling behind, so I'll try fixing it later on. (see, now we're getting somewhere -- keep it up, this is as active as the site's been since... well, ever ) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
