OK, I take that back. I actually had more problems with standard enemies (like Tashroombas and such) than I did with the final(-final(-final)) boss.

I just needed to gain a few levels (to 28) and it was piss-easy. Seriously, red shells (and Mix Flowers) kick. ass. p.s.: the final(-final(-final(-final))) boss is the best boss ever.
