Your layout is completely unreadable, and I use a superbright monitor.

Fix it.

Then can you make a hack and let us see what is different from every other hack ever made?
Don't dodge the bullet. This is like saying you shouldn't criticize art unless you can draw a Mona Lisa.

Common sense says that SMAS graphics are too fucking overused, and there's nothing in these screenshots that make me go "Woah." It's just the same shit you see in every single other hack on the planet now.

I need to get a tripod (or other stable area), since a lot of my photos come out blurred. I have a shaky hand, and with higher exposure times (needed for dark imagery) it ends up really, really bad. (There was a good one last night of the Luxor's beam lighting up a cloud, too:

...but my shaky hand made it come out pretty badly. )

Another thing, I don't know if it has been mentioned but I can no longer access acmlm's board by the url "acmlm.org" I have to type "board.acmlm.org". I think it was done on purpose but I liked having that because it was such an easy shortcut to the site. I hate typing in the entire url but if you guys can get that on again I would appreciate it.
it redirected to "new.acmlm.org/board", which was outdated. I guess I forgot to put in the redirect, oh well... it's fixed now.

There's nothing I can do about this.

My account won't stay in past the "logged in" screen. When it transfers me back to the main board, it shows me as logged out ._.
That's strange, the same thing happens to me.

I don't know, to download any programs it was either:

- Hope that they distributed an actual binary (HA HA HAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHHA)

- Compile it myself (AHAHAHAHAHAHAH no.)

- Figure out which sequence of "apt" or "pck" or "pkg" or whatever the fuck it was commands will actually download and install (and then make it actually work, probably by downloading more required packages etc etc ad nasueam)

I agree with Hyperhacker on all points.

Actually, considering that 90% of the time my screen was completely fucking illegible, yes, it was.

(Don't give me that "bad videocard' bullshit, because 2000 and even 98 ran fine on it, and still do)

(P.S.: That menu didn't exist)

Hyperhacker, your point number 3 is the weakest. If you used Unix before Windows, you probably would complain that DOS is limited and awkard.

Also, if you have some oddball hardware (like my laptop) it can be good idea to test severeal distros. It was ironic, but that 3D demo desktop thing worked much better on my laptop than most other distros did. XD
DOS is automatically easier to use:

DOS/Windows:
Edit file -> "edit fliename.ext"
Move file -> "move file1 destination"
Copy file -> "copy file1 destination"
Copy disk -> "discopy a: b:"
Rename -> "rename a b"
Delete -> "delete filename" (or "del", for short)
MakeDirectory -> "mkdir name"
Help file -> "help [command]"
Help/Syntax -> no arguments or "/?" or "-?"
Loading program -> "program name"

Linux:
Edit file -> "vi [filename]" (or whatever stupid editor is installed)
Move file -> "mv file1 file2"
Copy file -> "cp file1 file2"
Copy disk -> "dd ?? ??" (?)
Rename -> "rn file file2" (EXTREMELY EASY TO CONFUSE WITH DELETE)
Delete -> "rm file1" (EXTREMELY EASY TO CONFUSE WITH RENAME)
MakeDirectory -> "md dirname" (?)
Help file -> "man [command]"
Help/Syntax -> various between every program in existance ("--help", "--syntax", "-h", "-?", etc)
Loading program -> "./program"

In short: stupid

So what if they don't make sprites from scratch. The SMAS graphics are for all intents and purposes all recolors of their NES graphics, yet you don't see people saying WHY DIDNT THE ARTIST CREATE ORIGINAL SPRITES FROM SCRATCH. For that matter, I've seen SO many SMB1 hacks that use SMB3 graphics, and I almost never hear the volume of complaints of graphic over-use as I do here. Keep in mind they are the same graphics as these, only 8-bit. It just comes off as a little hypocritical when I look at it like that and honestly, if people can be all WOW THTS AMAZNG to an NES hack with good level design and SMB3 graphics, why can't they do they same in these cases? Its just...I don't get it ._.; what's the difference, really.

And saying that there's more SMW hacks than SMB hacks thus making it more common isn't really a good excuse, I'll just say now...
I rarely see SMB1 hacks these days. Perhaps that's why?

And besides, using SMB3 graphics in SMB at least requires some effort. With SMW, you literally download a file and click a fucking button.

(Not to mention, on average, SMB1 hacks (or the like) require far more effort than "My First Hack" SMW)

In one level in world 7 of Super Mario Bros 2, there are mushroom blocks or something piled atop a cloud, like so:
###### <-- blocks
# #
# #
~~~~~~ <-- cloud
You can jump up through this cloud, getting stuck inside the structure. (Thankfully, you can kill yourself from the Pause screen, so you're not completely screwed unless you have no lives left.) The sucky part is it's a blind jump - you can't see the structure until you land on the cloud, triggering the screen to scroll.
I'm pretty sure there's a spark enemy inside there, so you die anyway.
