I feel sorry for these people: 2 people named Phil McCracken 22 people named Anita Dick 1 person named Seymour Butts Parents just don't think things through some times. |

| Or maybe its just because the country is still very conservative. Especially socially conservative in large regions, like the entire south and most of the Great Plains. They weren't voting for the Democrats because they agree with their politics, they voted for the Democrats because they were the only other choice. Which really shows how upset people really were with the Republicans. | |||

| TV, movies and mostly advertisements, have to occasionally change things around, or focus on a new fad, to keep people interested. If you look at pin-ups girls from a few decades ago, they show a rather different idea of what's supposed to be attractive. For that matter, just watch an eighties movie. The character that's supposed to be the most attractive girl in the school, that all the guys are after is rarely very good looking. Then, just look through a magazine now. All the models a skinny, pale, and flat in all the wrong places. Kind of similar to what was "attractive" in the 20s.
Basically, there is no reason to feel pressured to look like people in movies, TV, and ads. Because, as usual, that is a fantasy world. It has no bearing on reality. What's actually attractive doesn't really change, it's all hormones and genetics. |

| It's one thing to say unrealistic images in the media make people feel bad about their appearance, and pressured to look a certain way. It's different to claim that it actually causes anorexia nervosa. That's right up there with saying violent movies and games turn people into homicidal maniacs.
Anorexia is a complex psychological disorder that causes people to literally starve themselves to death. No otherwise mentally healthy individually in going to become anorexic just from seeing skinny people on TV and in magazines. |
