Originally posted by Apophis Exactly, I mean, if they could just go fill out form before they come and be legal, I'm sure they'd all do it. Besides just the tests and fees, you have to be some sort of "professional" with a degree, or in a management position. |

| Let me see if I follow your logic: Illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, they drive the cost of labor down, take American jobs, and if they attempt to obtain documentation, they should be deported for being illegal.
That makes no sense. There's always going to be illegal immigrants. And as long as they can't obtain legal documentation, they'll continue to do cheap under the table work, which could be done by Americans for much more, and that can drive down labor costs, and without paying any taxes. If they can easily get legal documentation, they can get normal taxed jobs, that pays normal wages, meaning it won't drive wages down, and there would be no more incentive to hire a Mexican over an American, and since they would have proper documentation, they wouldn't even be illegal anymore. Problem solved. |

Originally posted by Dracoon They can't obtain documentation in their own country Or any country. The laws are set up so you have to already have money to legally reside the US. Originally posted by Vyper Yes, I know that's the issue. You're completely missing the point. They're illegal because they don't have the option of becoming legal. So they can't pay taxes. If we let them become legal, they can pay taxes. |

| Are you using a router? You probably need to set-up port forwarding. Or you can move your computer your router's DMZ. It should say how in your routers manual.
Or, maybe your ISP is blocking incoming connections on the ports your trying use. Or, it could be like the ISP I used to have that blocked all incoming connections. |

Originally posted by Dracoon We need a new class of work visa (not citizenship) that doesn't require the holder be a professional or in a managerial position, and doesn't require large processing fees. This of course doesn't deal with the 11 to 12 million illegal immigrants already here. Well, we obviously can't just round them all up an deport them. It's economically unfeasible, would cause widespread civil unrest, and they would likely come right back anyway. The only reasonable solution is to give these people amnesty so they can obtain legal documentation, and get legitimate jobs. Once it becomes possible for the average dirt poor Mexican to easily obtain legal document from within Mexico, illegal immigrant would likely all but cease. | This is only somewhat related, but, isn't it crazy how in some countries people are starving to death, while in others they're having contests to see who can eat the most?
Anyway, not that I'm real anxious to get back on the subject of victimizing animals, but what happened to the original topic? (edited by emcee on 04-19-06 05:08 AM) |

| Does it count if I just set a scheduled task for my browser to open to the board homepage at the scheduled time?
Probably not. Antway, it would probably work best at the time of the week that already has the highest users online. I'm not sure if the board saves that statistic, though. |

Originally posted by &93;GGS&91; Cruel Justice Some things that are generally enjoyed more by males may have something to do with hormones, but most are just arbitrary distinctions created by society. I doubt there's any genetic reason why I would like video games more than a woman, or why I would be better at math. I don't really buy that out of two women claiming to be straight, one who enjoys soccer, or plays Dugeons and Dragons would be more turned on by women and less turned on by men. Any more than I would believe a man likes to cook is more gay than one who doesn't. |

| People are oppose to abortion, because they feel that a fetus, even at the point of only a few hundred cells, constitutes life. Therefor, destroying it is murder. It's really as simple as that. I don't think that the millions of prolifers are all hiding some secret agenda.
Ever try to argue against the war in Iraq, and the person you're arguing with starts telling you why you're really against it, even though you just told them why? They say you're just still upset about the 2000 election, or you want the terrorists to win, or you just hate America. Infuriating isn't it? Besides, what difference does it make whether they think a few hundreds cells count as life, or they feel a woman should be punished by child birth, if they're wrong either way? |

Originally posted by SilvershieldOriginally posted by emceeOuch. Brilliant argument you've posed there. I didn't pose any argument as to why both those ideas are wrong. I've already said why I thought the first one was wrong in the other thread about abortion, and there is no need to agrue against the second point since no one has actually made it. I was simply saying, if you think someone's arguement is flawed, then say why its flawed. Don't make up new arguments, and argue against them. |

Originally posted by Rydain Yeah, that made me wonder too. I just kind of figured, based on his living conditions and situaton, that at that point he had pretty much burned up most all his money and didn't have much more coming in. But then, after that scene, he's suddenly rich again. Even bought a fancy new tractor. I guess maybe he eventually got that check reissued and cashed it. And it was really big. It also bothered me that it showed him as an adulterer and drug addict, who was always on the road, but they still somehow managed to blame all his marrage problems on his wife. I'm sure she was likely atleast partly to blame, but the movie seemed to go out of its way to show him as an innocent bystander in every situation. I just didn't buy it. |
