| On the one had its nice that something like that's possible (it wouldn't be on most boards), on the other it strikes me as bit of a security risk, it would be a cinch to steal someone's password.
By the way, another trick to this layout is that it doesn't stretch the page if I post a long line, or wide image. |

| I'm pretty good with Perl, for CGI, and also GUIs with Tk.
I can also write G-code for Tsugami CNC swiss lathes, but I got a feeling that isn't going to help anyone. |

Technically, its The Ghost and Mr. Chicken, but close enough. Alright, let me try to get rid of the rest of these once and for all, for 2 point each:
This movie's "experiment" is "This Island Earth"
The main charactor is arrested for vagrancy at the start of the movie. He escapes into the woods.
Mathilda fires randomly out the window.
Hoo-Wah!

I had also set it to give Mario a mouth, but then I realised it would only look right to people with the same resolution as me and a maximized window. |

Good, someone finally got Goodfellas, I thought "What do you mean funny?" was a dead giveaway. A new one, for 10 points:
And since it doesn't look like anyone is going to get them, here are the answers to the remaining four:
This was "Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie", it's a shame nobody got this one, it was my favorite of the bunch.
First Blood (aka "Rambo")
Leon (aka The Professional)
Scent of a Woman Hoo-Wah! (edited by emcee on 12-01-05 11:05 PM) |

2. door floor 3. dragonfly rye 4. deer beer 5. | When traveling from the local networks to Comedy Central I flip by the religious stations. Out of pure curiosity, I normally stop and watch for a few minutes.
These channels really only have three types of shows: they have acted out shows that reinact (or just inact if you prefer) the Bible or a religiously themed story, they have faith healers (they heal people [or atleast appear to] and ask for money from the veiwer, or just ask for money), and they have sermons. The sermons are normally trying to tell you how to better live your life, which with or without the God aspect generally makes sense (better than anything that comes out of the mouth of Dr. Phil), or they're debating the validility of different interpretations of the Bible, which I can understand, even if sometimes they're a little off base. However, what I see more and more often doesn't make any sense. They seem to be continually attacking scientific views, not because they conflict with the Bible, but from a logical standpoint. They are literally trying to prove through logic (albeit somewhat flawed most of the time) that they're idea of creationism and intelligent design makes more sense then evolution (not to say evolution and intelligent design must be mutually exclusive, but they tend to take issue with anything that conflicts with a literal interpetation of genesis). However, it strikes me that as soon as you begin to use logic to show why your religion is right, it ceases to be religion. That's the difference. There are many different scientific theories as to the creation of the species, and the formation of the universe, but what makes them scientific theories is that they are based on observation and logic, religious beliefs are based on faith. If you feel so threatened by the logic of scientific theories that you feel you must present logic to support your own beliefs, maybe the real issue is your own lack of faith. Originally posted by Vystrix Nexoth Although I understand where you're coming from (a little more than why you have a half naked pubescent girl for your user picture), I have to say, a Christmas tree is still a Christmas tree, even if you call a holiday tree. It shouldn't be repurposed as some sort of catch all early-winter holiday decoration, and I see no reason why a Jewish person would accept it as representive of their holiday anymore than a Christian would accept a menorah as representive of their holiday, even if you called them holiday candles. In short, if a city is worried about offending it citizens with a Christmas tree, they should just not have one, not try to pass it off as something else. (edited by emcee on 12-02-05 09:24 PM) |

| EDIT: Ah, crap, I spent so long trying fix the color you posted the answer while I was typing. I thought I needed closing tags.
Ok, I get it. Taking your example: 1 8 5 4 7 9 6 3 2 0 Add up ever other number starting with the first one. 1+5+7+6+2=21 Now starting with the second: 8+4+9+3+0=24 The total of these is more, so those are the ones you want. Here they are color coded: 1854796320 You want the blue ones, so you take the zero: 185479632 They now have to take a red one. It doesn't matter which they take, but lets say they take the 2: 18547963 You of course take the blue: 1854796 They must take a red: 185479 You take a blue: 18547 They take a red: 1854 You a blue: 185 A red for them: 18 You take the last blue and they're left with the red, as long as you get all blues you win because they add up to more. For clarification, the color were for demostration, the "blues" are simply in the group that adds up to the most, and the "reds" are the others. (edited by emcee on 12-03-05 12:27 AM) |

5.) "You know what I like about mud? It's clean and it's dirty at the same time!" (2 points) Super Mario Bros? 7.) "I'm an excellent driver! Yeaaah..." (3 points) Rainman 8.) "Nice work, bonedaddy!" (1 point) Nightmare before Christmas? 12.) "We dance, we kiss, we smooge, we carry on and go home happy..." (2 points) Animated Hercules 15.) "A man shouldn't live off carbohydrates alone, complex or otherwise..." (2 points) Ok, I didn't know this one, but I was curious and looked it up so I guess I'll recuse myself from this one. 17.) "Honeykins! This machine is calling me an asshole!" (5 points) Maximum Overdrive (wow that movie's ancient, I only remember it because of the AC/DC soundtrack) 19.) "I'm like King Midas in reverse. Everything I touch turns to shit." (10 points) Actually I think I remember this line on The Sopranos, maybe it was taken from the movie you're refering to. |

| The problem is that it has to create a new connection for each image, combine it into two or three images, and use a image map to link each button, it should load alot faster. Or if you really want to get fancy, just make one image, and overlap it with a scolling div for your text. (edited by emcee on 12-07-05 06:00 PM) |

| Christmas means different things to different people. For some its religious, others its completely secular.
I don't think anyone here is claiming Christmas is only celebrated by Christians. The fact that it is a secular holiday as well as a religious one is the very reason it should be called a Christmas tree. Those celebrating Christmas as a religious holiday identify Christmas as a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Those celebrating it secularly see Christmas as just the name of the holiday, the concept of Christ disassociated from it. But reguardless, of it's orgins hundreds of years ago, or how you celebrate the holiday, a Christmas tree is the symbol for Christmas. Not Kwanza, Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice, New Year's Day, St. Nicholas Day, or Pearl Harbor Day, just Christmas, hence the name: Christmas Tree. It's stupid to think renaming it will make any difference. Anyone actually offended by it, isn't going to think, "Hey, its a holiday tree now, that means its a symbol for my holiday as well". It has nothing to do with any other holidays, and no matter what you call it, it's still a Christmas tree, no one is going to accept it a symbol for their holiday just because it's called a Holiday Tree. If a town is really worried their tree will offend someone, they should A: take it down, or B: put up a menorah. |
